You know I always wondered why, with all that armour plating that almost every space craft in, and out, of science fiction is clad in, that the designers go and put all that delicate, vulnerable pipework on the outside. Bad design but it sure looks great. :)

Oh come on now Paul, what are the odds of hitting a tiny, itty, bitty hydraulic line versus the large piece of armor plating it's scurrying across :lol: Besides, Han never said it was a good design, just that it could haul...well, you know B)

I saw your youtube tutorial about the panels. It was great. You mention that the aproach is slightly different when beveling the edge of the panel. Could you go over that part?

I suppose there's a fan book out there that explains what ever single doodad on the exterior does, no doubt.

It probably never had all those extraneous parts on it when it was new. Han did say he had made a few modifications himself... :D

 

Thank heavens for deflector shields or most of that stuff would be ripped right off whipping through an atmosphere.

I'm looking a bit ahead and thinking about textures and decals. I wonder if 3DPaint would be a good app to use on this since I have to paint streaks of grime and oil over various greebles, such as you might expect from a beat up old ship like this - well, it will be beat up and old looking when I get done with it.

Question to ponder: When doing an AO render, the look is really cool, but can a model be rendered using AO and not come out gray? Specifically, I want the Falcon and something else I am concurrently working on to look bright white, like the pic below.

Add a strong light in addition to the global illumination.

 

 

That astronaut pic does have the Sun as the main source of light, after all.

 

 

Or, an EXR render can be smoothly level corrected to almost any brightness.

I've got so many projects going right now...hmmm, I sound like an AM forum member ;):blink: that I haven't worked on the Falcon since the last post. Trust me, I've put in too much work to put this one on the shelf. Just learning some new stuff about bones and rigging right now. I'll get back to the Falcon soon.
