agep Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 I dug up an old friend of mine, the stupid robot I made a few years ago. I've been tinkering with SynthEyes the last couple of days. Basically I recorded a video of my desk with my mobile phone and imported it into SynthEyes, did the tracking and adjustments then exported it to A:M. I see there is some jittering on the tracking, but overall I'm satisfied. The animation is just an old and crappy action I made long time ago. Let me know what you think johnny6.mov Here is an small screen capture: Quote
3DArtZ Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 well for an "old and crapy action" its pretty good! Quote
cronos Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 wow !!! , very impressive , maybe buy it (SynthEyes) , how you making robot chain animation Quote
ptiversen Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 I have been thinking about getting that software, but you now convinced me that I really need (want it) it. SynthEyes that is. Great job agep. Quote
dougwills Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 I love your work - as usual. You never seem to disappoint. Great job. Doug Quote
Bendytoons Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 That looks great. The stutter in tracking is probably because your phone couldn't keep up a regular frame rate. I've found that using a miniDV camcorder and then capturing the footage gives the best results because the frame rate is rock solid. And syntheyes costs how much? about $400 bucks last I checked, a steal when you consider that competing (though not competitive to my mind) products go as high as 20K. Quote
jzawacki Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 And syntheyes costs how much? $400 according to http://www.ssontech.com/ Quote
NancyGormezano Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 old & crappy? I'm old & crappy. That was great. Nice breakdown as well - very clear I hate you....I mean that in a good way, of course. Quote
agep Posted November 26, 2007 Author Posted November 26, 2007 Thanks guys! wow !!! , very impressive , maybe buy it (SynthEyes) , how you making robot chain animation If I remember correctly, I used the same principle as explained in this thread for the belts That looks great. The stutter in tracking is probably because your phone couldn't keep up a regular frame rate. I've found that using a miniDV camcorder and then capturing the footage gives the best results because the frame rate is rock solid.I did export the recording to 25fps before I ran the tracking, not sure if that made it better though Quote
nimblepix Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 My word, that is so very, very good. It'll be sent to some friends in the next few minutes! Quote

animas3D Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Stian, You are a very talented artist. Just out of curiosity, do you have a day job or are you a student? Or do you strictly devote your time to your own 3D work? Joe. Quote
