MarkusAralius382 Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 Ok I finally finished my character here he is! I was wondering if anyone new of good surface settings for the eyballs and also the body of this guy to make him look even better. Quote
agep Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 LOL. Nice one. That thing reminds me of a character I made for my first animation If interested the surface for mine is: Diffuse color red 14 green 255 blue 14 Specular color red 255 green 250 blue 14 Spec size 60 Spec Intensity 50 Transparency 88 Index of refraction 1.99 Reflectivity 33 Reflective blend 100 Quote
paulmcg1 Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 Markus can you animate the eyes? If so let me know how you make those type of eyes I have no clue how to do it and Its really frustrating me heh. Quote
MarkusAralius382 Posted January 7, 2005 Author Posted January 7, 2005 Oh my god that's adorable! Thanks for all the positive feedback!, I created and easy charecter like him just so I could learn all the basic steps of modeling rigging and animating a character. I think he will just be a cute quite character who scurries around and gets frightened easily. Thanks for the surface settings Stian, and i'll keep you posted on how I animate his eyes when I rig him Paul! Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted January 7, 2005 Hash Fellow Posted January 7, 2005 congratulations on modeling your first character! I imagine him having scaly skin. A bump map could simulate that, or if you wanted to go crazy, v11 hair can do scales I think. Quote
Zaryin Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 He's great! That's real good for a first character, expecially being able to attach the appendages. Quote
dborruso Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 nice markus. smart to keep your first model simple, you can learn a lot with that little guy. Have fun Quote
MarkusAralius382 Posted January 8, 2005 Author Posted January 8, 2005 Thanks again for the replies! Now off to rig and animate him. Quote
lazz Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 I really like the look of him... or her... it? Who knows. Anyway, he looks great! Comical looking. Great job! Can't wait to see him/her/it walking around the place! -Robert Lazzarini Quote
dent_moosely Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 Reminds me of a cartoon alien I had in a illustrated story I did in a local rag 1992... "Parables of the Universe" (I hope to resurrect in an animated form once I get a good grip on the software.) Quote
MarkusAralius382 Posted January 12, 2005 Author Posted January 12, 2005 Well I didnt want to start a new thread but here is another picture of my character which I think is much better! Quote
starwarsguy Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 Wow. Such a simple structure, yet so much emotion and character could be conveyed through him, it looks. GREAT JOB! Quote
firekid1234 Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 Thats sweet. He kinda looks like a Pikman Quote
MarkusAralius382 Posted January 13, 2005 Author Posted January 13, 2005 Lol, ya I was surprised when I saw this picture rendered! It turned out much better than I thought it would. Quote
Newbert_Zero Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 Wow that looks simple yet awsome. how long did it take you to do that? Quote
Mr. Jaqe Posted January 21, 2005 Posted January 21, 2005 "do not worry humans, we come in peas" Quote
Xtaz Posted January 22, 2005 Posted January 22, 2005 Hi Markus : nice character ... my two cents, the next step would be to weld the legs to the body ... make a nice texture to him, and work whit lights can we see wires ??? keep the good job Quote
lazz Posted January 22, 2005 Posted January 22, 2005 Once again, that's a great character. I could imagine so many different personalities from it. Anything from the personality of a young puppy to a wise old wizard. Can't wait to see him animated. -Robert Quote
Mr. Jaqe Posted January 22, 2005 Posted January 22, 2005 Anything from the personality of a young puppy to a wise old wizard. or a devil in disguise... Quote
lazz Posted January 22, 2005 Posted January 22, 2005 or a devil in disguise... Why in disguise? Do you know how hilarious it would be to have an animation where someone is confronted by the devil and its him? I'm laughing just thinking about it! Like, you'd see this big shadow, And then a close up of his eye, and then it would zoom out to be him ! Markus, your character has just too much potential! -Robert Quote
Mr. Jaqe Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 I agree! he's simple, yet so...usefull! just like me Quote
MarkusAralius382 Posted January 23, 2005 Author Posted January 23, 2005 Wow, this is awesome I come back, look at the showcase and Boom! much more positive feedback about my character, thanks guys you just made my day . Newbert_Zero Posted on Jan 20 2005, 04:16 PM Wow that looks simple yet awsome. how long did it take you to do that? I finished him in a couple days of working on him, not sure exactly how much time I put into him altogether Xtaz Posted on Jan 22 2005, 05:06 PM nice character ... my two cents, the next step would be to weld the legs to the body ... make a nice texture to him, and work whit lights can we see wires ??? keep the good job Ya i'm not sure if i'm going to attach the legs, also what kind of texture would you suggest? ps. How do I render a wire frame of my character? Quote
DarkLimit Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 In the render panel / options / quality u can choose wireframe...... Quote
MarkusAralius382 Posted March 1, 2005 Author Posted March 1, 2005 Well after alot of procrastinating I finally finished rigging my character, here is an updated render. Quote
MarkusAralius382 Posted March 1, 2005 Author Posted March 1, 2005 I'm finding it hard to position his,eye stem thingies.... I want to get it so I can control them the same way I do for his knees (I control the knees by constraining them to a target null). Although if I try a similar technique for the eye stem's it doesnt really work because it causes a sharp 90 degree angle in them and I cant control them properly. Any suggestions? Quote
Paul Forwood Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 Check the chain of bones that the eye stems are assigned to. You may have some which are not attached to their parent/child. That would cause a sharp bend at the unattached joint when moving the nulls down. Quote
MarkusAralius382 Posted March 5, 2005 Author Posted March 5, 2005 Check the chain of bones that the eye stems are assigned to. You may have some which are not attached to their parent/child. That would cause a sharp bend at the unattached joint when moving the nulls down. Ok I fixed all that up and have no creasing. Accept! Which bone out of the many in his eye stems do I assign a aim at constraint for the null. None of them seem to work they way I want it to Animate him!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the positive feedback. I'll work on that as soon as possible Quote
