  1. How big is the sprite going to be? If you are doing something like Diablo, you can probably get away with decals. If you model the clothes, it usually works best to delete any underlying geometry. You will probably have more luck using CP weighting and Smartskin ranther than cloth simulation for most of the clothing parts. Cloth sim might be useful for something such as a cape though.
  2. Yeah, a tga sequence with alpha usually works best, thought I have had success with quicktime movies compressed with the Animation codec. I've had best results making the background behind an image of the person black after I create the alpha channel, and make the alpha channel 1 or 2 pixels smaller than the object. This helps to eliminate the fringe that sometimes results from some programs like Photoshop. You can create a Layer in the choreography in A:M to map the image or image sequence onto. First import your image or sequence, Right-click on the chor and choose New > Layer and choose your image. You can move a Layer anywhere you want in the chor.
  3. Cloth takes a lot of experimentation. First you should work through this tutorial to make sure you have the basics down. http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?s=&am...st&p=248996
  4. Happy birthday Mark! I didn't see you listed has having a birthday today ...
  5. This will get you started. It is for all kinds of trees, not just pine trees, but it also makes good pine trees. http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=30938 As for the foliage, Hair is your friend. http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=29738
  6. What does it looks like with no color map (color map set to 0%) ? How about when the bump is set to something like 400%? What does it look like with displacement instead?
  7. I could buy the highlights on the tall skinny rock, but I see what you mean about the other rock. Do you think it would look better if it was rim lit more, and the specular highlights were toned down a little?
  8. Oh yes. Love the water, and the fish. And I really don't think that the shoreline is lame, it's just that your image has the potential to be stunning, it's already pretty freakin' amazing, and in that context, the shoreline sticks out.
  9. Zero Slope Interpolation also works well.
  10. Very nice image. Here are some images of various shorelines on the open ocean. http://outdoors.webshots.com/photo/1050775382040195993LaRjae http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseact...logId=449530971 http://www.flickr.com/photos/awara/2604120860/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/peke_cheeks/123693068/ You could probably get away with less dynamic water/land interaction if you turn your ocean into a lagoon or inlet by placing another body of land out past the rocks.
  11. If rendering to Quicktime or AVI, that might be the problem, but surely 10 gigs should be able to render a series of 4k still images? ... if indeed A:M can access all that RAM...
  12. I never would have thought to use the skin shader to get a metallic effect. Nice idea.
  13. It looks like the body of water is an ocean, rather than a lake. One of the qualities of the ocean as it interacts with land is that the waves, no matter how small, are always either rolling in, or sweeping out. The water along the shore line is never in a state of rest, like you have in your image. Also David's suggestion of darkening the sand near the water line is a good one. Having said all that, getting a convincing water/land transition is really difficult. What you have already there looks beautiful. I love the colors.
  14. You can set this up with only bones. You don't need to make any geometry. If there is no geometry, it doesn't matter if it is active or non-transparent. It won't render and there shouldn't be any render hit. If you want to see the rig, just select it in the chor and go into Skeletal Mode. This will also allow you to animate it.
  15. I have no idea. I tried looking for the post that tells you how to completely remove A:M from the computer, including registry entries, but I can't find it. This might be a good one for support@hash.com
  16. Very nice Myron. You're our Art Deco "go to" guy!
  17. Web subscription or CD version?
  18. I haven't tried this, but you should be able to just render with "step" set to 2 or 3 to get that stop motion jerky look.
  19. Has someone done this? Or is this yet-to-be-achieved? As far as I know, it is yet to be achieved. I didn't try very hard. But with all the UV tests you have done lately, you could probably get it working.
  20. Still have no idea what's going on, but I'm enjoying the episodes.
