A quick modeling test for something I've been itching to try: the "demon with squid-like wings", one of the many ghastly creatures in Michelangelo's painting "The Torment of St. Anthony" I tell ya, that guy must have been a saint to put up with all those demons chewing on him.

I'm not sure there is such a thing as a good school for it. There are lots of schools out there offering game degrees and stuff but they have bad reputations as very expensive diploma mills.

First animation with AM 64bit in windows 10
robcat2075 replied to johnl3d's topic in Tinkering Gnome's Workshop
What Nancy said. You can have both 32-bit and 64-bit versions installed and run them with the same key. -
I have never seen "Joyride" before! Created c. 1989-1991. Former Hash programmer Ken Baer has written some historical notes below the video. See "Joyride" on FaceBook

My computer died and I havent subscribed for years...
robcat2075 replied to entity's topic in Animation:Master
To clarify... Both versions are keyed to the computer you install on. They are not like the old CD version where you could carry the CD to any computer and run A:M. -

robcat2075 replied to entity's topic in Animation:Master
Hey, Welcome back Rich! Sorry hear about unpleasant events! Head injuries are very bad things. I recommend the $79 annual subscription. I'll note that the $299 version is not actually a CD-keyed thing. It is keyed to your computer and while it doesn't expire, it stays on whatever version it is on for that year and no more updates after one year. -
Insect Image Contest - Pre-Vote Exhibition!
robcat2075 replied to robcat2075's topic in Contests/Challenges
I have swapped in full-size images (when available) in the top post. Many of them do gain quite a bit with the extra detail and I encourage you to give them a careful look. Click on any of the preview images to bring up the full-size version! -
Here are the entries I have received, for your perusal. Click on any of them to load the full-size image. Actual voting will be next week. Check to make sure your entry is here! If anyone out there still has an entry they can get to me by Friday... I'll take it! Hey, these look pretty good!

My major complaint about Youtube for animation is that you couldn't step thru something frame-by-frame to study the motion. But now you can, at this site (and Vimeos too) http://anilyzer.com/ I'm not sure it's frame accurate but it seems to get most of them
-
And this was the "high-level" explanation. Imagine what the low-level details are like.

Wow! Can't wait to see some reports on your A:M doings with that. Sounds exciting!

Submit your Insect Contest Image - Last Call... Monday!
robcat2075 replied to robcat2075's topic in Contests/Challenges
Last call for entries: Monday August 10 Last call for do-overs, revisers, slow-pokers, laggards and The-Dog-Ate-My-A:M-CDers! There are enough entries to hold a vote so we definitely won't be extending this one out for another bunch of weeks. Don't sit on the fence, get your entry in on Monday! -
When I got v3 I was still on a Mac. I do recall installing it on Win 2000 a few years ago just to look at it again so i presume it ran on Window 95. I don't know if it also ran on Widows 3.1 The installer won't run on Windows 7.
-
I have it installed so it must have run for me. Save your work frequently and progressively just in case you hit a bump.

Photoshop or other paint programs are allowed for textures, as always. You can also use a paint program to composite separately A:M-rendered elements together. Would that cover it? -

While I'm toiling away on my entry I'll take a moment to note that ... You still have two days (and a fraction) to finish your entry! -
That looks wonderful, Kevin! (for some reason I've been calling William "Kevin" for ten years)
-
Great to see you back Jeff! She looks fabulous. Hey, you still have a couple days to get in on the image contest!

Jason has provided some examples of the Hash jackets from Siggraphs past. Not all styles are available in all sizes, in fact, most styles are available in only one size. The first place winner will need to discuss their choice with Jason. And maybe that winner will be you! You have three days to finish and submit your entry! -
Tech Watch: Automated Obstruction Removal from Images
robcat2075 replied to Rodney's topic in Open Forum
Terribly clever, none-the-less. I wonder if it is in any way similar to how our minds filter out the thing we aren't interested in when we look at such situations. -
Tech Watch: Automated Obstruction Removal from Images
robcat2075 replied to Rodney's topic in Open Forum
Very impressive. The limitation seems to be that the camera must move and must create a pretty substantial parallax change among the images.
