  1. I thought of Bertram when I saw this picture of Mary Kelly, a girlfriend of Jack Benny long before he married Mary Livingstone.
  2. Note for everyone... copy the master0.lic file from your current v19 folder to your new v19.5 folder and tht will activate v19.5 for you. Recall that 64-bit versions of programs are in your (C:)Program Files folder and 32-bit versions are in your (C:)Program Files (x86) folder.
  3. Hooray! And that's a modern Mac with an M1 processor? I'd be curious to hear what the results are for the Three Teapots benchmark, in v15 and v19
  4. V15 still has the OpenGL/Direct3D option v19.5 (not out yet) will have an option to not install AVX... However, I presume early versions like v15 won't have any AVX either?
  5. I suppose you already tried setting A:M to use OpenGL 1 instead of 3? Did you try a version of A:M that uses Direct X?
  6. So you can't even get a wireframe view? I presume render-to-file works. Do onscreen (Q or SHIFT-Q) final renders work? I wonder if previous versions of A:M would behave differently
  7. We are looking at starting in June, probably Sunday evening June 4. There is still time to inquire and/or join the C++ study group, where we begin learning C++ from scratch! It can be done, so you might as well do it! @Roger @Shelton @Rodney
  8. You want to transfer an A:M sub? Let's tag @Jason Simonds on that, in case he missed your email.
  9. AFAIK, the dump file is a set of information about what went wrong. When I can repeat a crash I send the dmp with my report to Steffen. I don't believe it contains project information. However you can recover your work after crashes by using A:M Back Up which I recommend everyone use. @yoda64 Is it possible to retrieve project data from a dmp file?
  10. I've also had a homeless person resident, but she was camped in the bushes instead of one of my rooms. I'm still awaiting for her to cart off the last box of treasures she left there.
  11. There was a lot of interest in the Cap Your Mo, Summer Mo-Cap Challenge! The most frequent question I got was, "Do I really have to show myself in the video?" "Why, of course!" I answered, "That's half the fun, right?" There the interest diminished quite a bit! That video rule does seem to have warded many people off. But we do have a fine and worthy winner! The First Prize of a $150 Hash Store Credit, for mo-capping, bravery, and getting the one entry in on time goes to... @Wildsided Dan Skelton! "Only Fools and Horses" A $50 Hash Store Credit, for his not-in-by-the-deadline-but-I'm-glad-he-got-it-done entry goes to... @Shelton Steve Shelton! "Suspicious Mind" And for $0, my non-contest entry... "Leap" You can still enter! There's still money to be won! Complete a Mo-Cap Challenge entry by the end of Summer 2023 and we'll add it to the gallery above and you will win a $25 Hash Store Credit! Let's see some more Mo-Cap!
  12. Yup. After watching the behind-the-scenes video it seems like the AI has appropriated the visual style of Pixar's "Monster's Inc." especially the "Sully" character... of which I'm sure there were thousands of sample images on the web to scrape and modify. The character designers at Pixar ought to get a credit on this film. AI creature... Pixar's Sully...
  13. Although I've never done it this way in 25 years of A:M-ing, those operations also appear in the Edit menu... "Group Connected" is introduced in "Exercise 9: Flower Power" in the TaoAM booklet of introductory tutorials
  14. Before you do that copy/paste, go to Tools->Options->Units to uncheck and zero these items, so that your paste has the same XYZ location as where it was copied from.
  15. I suppose you could select a portion, copy it, then paste it to a new model window when you are done with the three- in-one approach.
  16. Three models overlapping? In a model window... it's all one model. (It is possible, but very unlikely that your are modeling in the Chor with multiple models visible) Presuming you are in a model window... Select one CP in the portion of the mesh you wish to select, then press / (slash) to select all the CPs that are connected to it by splines. Other related shortcuts.. . (Period) inverts your current selection , (comma) selects all the CPs on same spline as the selected CP.
  17. Yay, we still have Dan Skelton to kick around!
  18. @strato New weird data point... I was going to make a screencam video to demonstrate this problem for Steffen... but the problem was gone! I could scrub and hear the audio even if there weren't two overlapping WAVS. So, I closed the screencam app (HyperCam6) ... then the problem returned. Something about running the other app is changing something about Windows audio for A:M. For now, my work-around is to include a silent WAV in my Chor. That causes the intended WAV to be audible while scrubbing. Silence30s.zip I don't have a computer running WinXP to test versions before v15 but I am unsurprised that the earlier OS doesn't have this problem.
  19. That is interesting and different from what I got. What I found was that I could play the sounds individually from the Sounds folder. I also could "Play" the chor and they would both be heard. But if I scrubbed in the chor, only the portions of the two WAVs that overlapped each other in the timeline would be heard. One WAV won't play, but two that overlap will. The odd thing is that this behavior happens now even in old versions of A:M like v15, where I don't recall this ever being a problem. I think something has changed about Windows to cause the existing sound code to not work.
  20. In an animation class about "overlapping motion" I recall they showed a very interesting slow-mo of how vehicles stop. After the wheels stop, the body continues moving forward slightly, then loops down and back up to its resting spot. The vertical element is most pronounced at the front of the vehicle and least so at the back.
  21. It's possible to do day-for-night well and possible to do day-for-night badly. Most of the "night" in Lord of the Rings was artificial but it looks right... But when I sample that white van in PS it seems to be absolutely neutral gray with no hint of blue in the light falling on it.
  22. Keep the artificial lights yellowish, but make the environment light bluish. And less sharp shadows from the environment light...
