The internet is only needed to create the license when you first install and not afterwards. Some file is created when you install, you take that to a computer that has internet and send it to Jason. He sends you back a license, you put that on the computer that has no internet.

Controlling an image sequence with a Pose or Smartskin
robcat2075 replied to robcat2075's topic in A:M Tutorials & Demos
Here is a brief animation with a Displacement Map whose Percentage is keyed in a Smartskin to go from 0 to 200 as the bone rotates to create the appearance of compression wrinkles. (You may need to click on it to see it animate) The map looks like this... -
Did you try the alternate method that uses the registry? Regarding current versions, it is possible to get the lic file process completed by email from Jason. Contact Jason@hash

There is a hitch with that. Partial solution... https://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=47589&p=408097 post #26

Yes, you can do that. You can tie the frames of an image sequence to a pose or a smartskin. Demo Project

Here is a brief demonstration project for controlling an image sequence with a pose or SmartSkin instead of time. ImageSequenceToSS.zip The image sequence shows numbers from 1 to 50 and fades from green to red The top decal is controlled with the "UpperSequence" Pose slider The top decal is controlled with a SmartSkin on the "Lower Sequence" bone below the square. Neither is controlled by time anymore. When you make a Pose or Smartskin there is a temporary Action created in the Actions folder. That is where you can turn on "Show More than Drivers" and make entries in the "Frame" parameter of an image sequence at certain Pose slider settings or certain bone rotations.

Voting has concluded, stay tuned for results! Vote now in the Animation:Master Forum "Summer Memories" Image Contest. Remember, you don't have to pick just one... you have to pick three! Anyone can vote, so call Grandma and tell her to give that AOL dial-up one more try! As always, you can click on any image see it in full resolution. This poll will run through next Monday October 23, 2017 Happy voting!

Just a bug in the poll to be fixed and then it should arrive soon.
-
They make one object? Constraining them all to a null in the chor would be a way to go. Or... pick one model that becomes the main one and constrain all the others to it. I'd need to see more of what you are doing to see what is not working.

"Paint fall" Image Contest WIPs
robcat2075 replied to robcat2075's topic in Work In Progress / Sweatbox
I think I produced at least 18 bug reports while working on this one project. -
on the original stamp (in the PWS) and choose "Recall View/Position". That will place the decal over the model at the same angle and size, You can Apply it again on the new mesh and then delete the original stamp. (prior to v19, there was a bug in "Recall View/Position" where you had to do it twice before it really recalled the view and position) If you applied the decal in a Pose (to flatten a face, for example) you will need to open the Pose window first. If you had any mesh Hidden when you applied the first stamp you will want to rehide that also. No. Use the Recall and reapply technique to put an UN-distorted decal back on the model.

Confirmation for displacement map bug crash
robcat2075 replied to R Reynolds's topic in Animation:Master
It's interesting that the results are not completely identical but i don't have an explanation. -
Apologies for the delay. Jason is occupied with non-A:M matters right now. When he gets back he'll be able to make poll for us.

Can you send me that test project? I've been having some weird color things happen also. -

Are the sprites supposed to be round also? -
Confirmation for displacement map bug crash
robcat2075 replied to R Reynolds's topic in Animation:Master
The displacement map effect is mostly independent of the patch density. One patch will work as well as 900. -
Needs a piano.

Confirmation for displacement map bug crash
robcat2075 replied to R Reynolds's topic in Animation:Master
I tried it and it rendered. Then I tried it again and it crashed. I'm using a beta version of v19c. You'll want to save and include a .pre file to identify all your render settings so that Steffen is duplicating them when he runs it. Also mention that I only got the crash the second time after loading. -
heard this song and decided to do quick animation

There is the pesky difference between spline modeling and polygon modeling strategy. In polygon modeling you make the surface and add the hole while in spline modeling you make the hole and then finish the surface. I guess you know what your options are now. Since none of the options are perfect (especially at the price range you are looking at) you have to make a choice of which inconveniences you can live with and that is understandable. A:M has always been targeted as a tool for creating narrative character animation and to the extend that people can use it for other things that is great but they can't chase those other markets that already have substantial tools available.

A "Drivers" folder seems to show up under a model in the Objects folder when you change a parameter to something that was external to the model. For example, if you drop a green shiny material on model of a vase, your vase will become green and shiny. If you edit the color of that material in the shortcut that is in the model rather than in the original material in the Materials folder, a Drivers folder will be added to the model that seems to contain that custom change. Or does it? If I delete that Drivers folder, the custom change I made doesn't go away. For further confusion, these drivers sometimes acquire keyframe curves with values changing over time. What causes this when i am editing a model in the model window, which is basically timeless?

Welcome back, Terry! If you can export your video to a numbered targa or jpg sequence that will certainly import. In A:M's render settings I see five options for AVI compression settings. I recommend "Full Frames (Uncompressed)" for something you wish to use in A:M. Note that the file size will be huge.
