I have found that the first attempt sometimes doesn't fully recall the view. Cancel it and do it again and it should work. And... you gotta have the correct window open.
-
This is true. If you need to re-stamp a decal onto the same place on a model but perhaps the mesh has been edited since or you want to include neighboring patches, you can continue down to the "Stamp" folder underneath the decal, on the Stamp for the decal and choose "Recall View/Position". This perches the decal in the correct position ready for you to "apply" again. Then you would delete the original stamp in the stamp folder. Before you do this, you need to have the window open that you originally applied the decal in. Typically that's a model window, but it is also possible to apply decals in Pose WIndows. You would need to have that Pose window open and set to whatever ON/OFF or Percentage setting you used for the decal. If you had some of the mesh hidden when you first applied the decal you will want to re hide it.

In the PWS,>objects folder>under the model>Decals folder> on the decal and choose "Edit" A window opens that shows the decal, overlaid with the splines it is applied to. You can grab CPs and move them vertically or horizontally (rotating is usually messy) to make them fall under desired parts of the decal. You can have a model window and this window open simultaneously so that you can see the result of your editing live. You may need to set your A:M appearance scheme so that splines are a color that is visible against your decal.

Hmmm... the page says I need Firefox 57.0 and I have 57.0 but I still get no video. EDIT: after I reloaded the page it gave me a link to down load the "Nightly". I'd say they still have work to do. All I got was the first few seconds of video and then stuck frames even though the progress bar was far ahead of the play point.

Techwatch: 3D Printed (battery-less) sensors for the IoT

So now I have to worry that the buttons on my shirt are reporting on me. -
Both versions of A:M are on the same computer, right?

Just importing an image into the images folder should not depend on how it has been used. Something else is wrong. Can you show me a screen capture of the images folder before you try the import?
-
Do you mean you're just trying to import it into the images folder and can't do that?
-
I believe the full version will need some new key that is different from the sub version. I've never bought a full version so I'm not sure how it works.
-
And i went for years on this same computer with just 4GB.

I have 8GB of RAM and can run A:M and Photoshop and after effects and Audacity all at once and don't have this trouble. Something unusual is wrong.
-
I guess the 8GB is on the video card? How much regular system RAM?
-
Hi Edward, A security update to Widows 7 makes the CD copy-protection process no longer work on Windows 7. There are two possible work-arounds which you can read in post #26 in this thread.

He's got 8GB of RAM, that ought to be more than enough to run the program. Something unusual is wrong.

The 64 bit won't take any more memory. You can have both. Copy the master0.lic file from your 32 bit folder to your 64 bit folder. Do you think the 64 bit version would solve the problem? I don't know, but it costs nothing to try except a few minutes of time. Download it. Install it. Run it.

I think the butt may need to be smaller. It looks female.

Here are some of my thoughts.. The general gallop loop looks promising but there's a hiccup in it. Any dust kicked up by the horse would be left behind, not continue forward. The cowboy looks like he's floating over the horse rather than riding on it. That is a tough thing to make work. A horse skidding to a halt would crouch lower and have the feet farther forward in front of his weight. Think of a "stubborn" mule resisting getting led somewhere. the cowboy flung off the horse will pretty much follow a smooth arc until he lands. He will not halt in mid air and then fall vertically.

It's a turkey... egg!

And I'm too slow to redo both sides.

"Paint fall" Image Contest WIPs
robcat2075 replied to robcat2075's topic in Work In Progress / Sweatbox
I didn't get around to painting paint splotches on the clothes but I made some preparations for it. Pants are typically an awkward shape to apply a decal to. On this character the pants are just a series of spline rings, up one leg, across the hips and down the other leg. I made a pose that unfolds them into a simple cylinder that is easy to decal. It also rotates the whole set so that the seam at the back of the cylinder decal lands on the inseam of the pants, where I least need to paint. With this one decal on the whole shape it is easy to take the image back to a paint program and add my paint splotches. The temporary checkerboard pattern makes it easy to see which part of the 2D decal ends up on which part of the 3D shape. (click to animate)
