  1. This may be a remote possibility. If you have Win XP, check your CPU to see how much of it is being used while A:M is on and how much it's using while off. My wife had a problem with a virus that kept her CPU busy at 90% which slowed down all programs she was working on.
  2. The title of this thread says: The Order of Character Animation..., Which First? Coloring/Decals? Rigging? Animation?. So, I'd like to comment about this important subject. -The first step in any animated project is the story. -Then comes the storyboard with dialogue. -Character design, style, color. -Then sound track. -Modeling in A:M. -Rigging (to see how the mesh will react when animated. No use coloring if everything's gonna look wierd when animated). -Color/decal. -Animate. That's some of what I learned from courses I've taken over the years. It's certainly not set in stone, but it comes from the experts and the order is logical. It helps to avoid pitfalls. Hope this helps
  3. Yah! Much better, more powerful. I couldn't see the kick but didn't need to, the aftermath explained what happened, looked very believable to me. On to the next scene
  4. I'd just use one dope sheet and animate the characters according to it.
  5. huh? An aquarium store?
  6. ... or of course you can ask our resident tinkering gnome for all of your uncommon needs johnl3d; you need to have your own web site with all your great inventions on it.

    IS IT LEGAL

As I remember from my art classes in college, you don't have to register your artwork with the copyright office to protect your work. By simply placing the © sign on your work, it's basically telling others that this is your intellectual property and you are automatically protected by the copyright laws provided you can prove that this is your own original work.
  8. Can't wait to see your stuff John. Welcome aboard.
  9. Could you provide a shaded wire frame and a wireframe scrn. capt.?
  10. One more suggestion for the line, animate its CPs. If you know the choreography of your line's scene you can then decide how many CPs you'll need, name each group, and then animate them accordingly. Or you can create Pose Sliders for it. This is a more advanced project.
  11. Do you mean the root bone?
  12. LOL That whimsical piece reminded me of the car chases in Playstation's Driver game where some of the cars that get hit are thrown way over buildings. Cool game. Fun scene

    The Retro

As custom as this automobile is, I'd want nothing less than keyless/touchless entry. Either voice activated door openers or a remote control for mine please
  14. Wow! Great accomplishment. Don't stop now, just tweak the rock a bit (accelerate its fall) and then put a fork in it
  15. Hey, I remember this move (or something similar) in my Tae Kwon Do class I took many many moons ago. First, as he crouches his right hand passes thru his right leg The jump & turn is actuated by the twist of the upper body first which acts as a wind up, and then as he jumps in the air the lower body twists to 'unwind' & the leg comes out to kick in the end. So, he should trun his upper body to the right immediately as he gets up from his crouching position while his lower body continues with the jump. That's my take anyway
  16. Go Nancy Go! I didn't know you can change tires
  17. That is one beautiful expressive face. The nose is very French (if there is such a thing). I'm not sure the hairy chest fits this character. He strikes more as the gentle type (the artiste), tall, thin. A hairy chest suggests a brute, rough type. (That's just my take on it, I could be wrong) Keep up the good work, can't wait to see more
  18. Or you can simply copy it, delete the one you have and paste it instead
  19. Here Ryan, see if you accept this. It's the best I can do with it. Good luck. joohl.ZIP
  20. Ryan, what modeling method did you use? Did you follow a tutorial? The reason I ask is because you didn't seem to have made a place for the ear on the head to attach it to. The other problem is the ear you made, you don't seem to have accounted for where the attachment needs to happen. It looks like you kept building the ear into the external auditory canal. Look at your own ear and see how large of an area there is that it attaches to your head. Here's a link that might help you. http://www.colins-loft.net/CoopHead.html
  21. PRIMA! A masterpiece
  22. Cute character for sure. I love the lighting. I agree the walk is a little stompy, but I don't know if that's intentional or not, however, ears and tail need secondary motion. I would love to see your sketches and storyboards.
  23. That looks great. Is that a solenoid valve inside that red canister?
  24. Thanks Nancy. I'll try both methods on a single object and see what I can come up with.
  25. That looks great. Is it done in A:M? The wood texture under the sink counter where it curves and where the chair is facing you makes it look like the chair back has some sort of a magnifying glass distorting the image behind it. I had to look closely to realize the counter had a curve in it.
