    Tutorial

If you mean adding the specularity, do that inthe rpoerties for the group. I f you mean filling in the hole... FillingLathedHole.mov That is exactly what I was looking for thank you. In Roberts video-capture: You can create more legal patches if you are connecting the dead ends on the half ot ehs pline between them too... it will result in a 3 point / 4 point-patchsituations so. Another way is to make the whole really small and then using the Stitch-feature (I tend to do this). You get a "plain" area then, but since it is that small it will not matter, but it still will not let you look through... See you *Fuchur*
  2. If you are willing to send your (new) host id, old activation code and email-adress you have used to buy it to me, I can reassign it too. Jason is quite busy this week. (> werbung at patchwork3d (dot) de) Otherwise it may be that you need to wait a little till he answers back which he will do surely. See you *Fuchur*
  3. *lol* It IS a real photo of his stove, if you ask me... no 3d in there. He is showing of his reference there... See you *Fuchur*
  4. Jep, know what you are talking about... CAD models are always hard to work with, especially since the customer tends to say "but I gave you the model, you just have to make it look well..." In most cases I end up remodelling the model (because there are now or very bad edge loops, etc. in the CAD-model-exports) in A:M and only use the CAD-imports as a reference-guide... but is always a timing-challenge to do that... Anyway it looks like a very nice result and that it what counts . See you *Fuchur*
  5. I'd say it is really very realistic... quite as if it could and would be real... See you *Fuchur*
  6. Did you use the internal A:M feature for the SVN? (better to say connect A:M directly) or did you do it externally? I never really had a look at it, but I think it has a big potential. If you can share some info about that, it would be highly appreciated . See you *Fuchur*
  7. Really well done . The quality is really astonishing and the effects you combined there are a very good example what realism is possible with A:M. Thanks for showing these . Looks amazing. (and looks like a very good product too ) There are some wireframes in the Vimeo video, do you have some of the images as well? Looks like a lot of (great) work . See you *Fuchur*
  8. Really a very good quality and nice character for such a short timeframe (even for a longer one it still would be cool Well done! See you *Fuchur*
  9. In general the spline-flow is okay but you should have a look at the upper spline running from hand through body at the shoulder. Is it intended to be that hard of and edge at the shoulder? See you *Fuchur*
  10. The blue screen with the building. At the bottom click the button that opens the menu in a web browser and then click on the modeling link. It'll look like the attached. If you've gotten rid of this menu you'd have to reset A:M to get it back (or simply navigate directly to the video menu which is at http://www.hash.com/startup/). No need to reset: It is available through the "Help"-menu too. Click on "Introduction". See you *Fuchur*
  11. SSE4 / SSE3 has actually to do with the CPU not the GPU. It is a set of commands which is meant to make certain operations faster. As far as I know, only Intel CPU of the newer generations can use SSE4 (I may be wrong with the new AMDs since there is a little bit of trouble with namen... AMDs SSE4a is not the same as SSE4.1 from Intel and so on... If you can use SSE4 you may use it... Yoda himself does use it, I for instance can't use it... if you are having trouble, to to install the version without it... It can speed up things a little, but not that incredible much that it would be of any good if you have other problems with it. See you *Fuchur*
  12. It really is fun . The funny thing about it is, that I am printing more to make it better than actually printing stuff for other purposes . (I have printed several things like a jevel case, a cellphone-holder especially designed and built for my car, some trinket stuff for a friend and so on, but often what I create is a spool holder (a better one than the one I already showed ), a tool holder for spatulas I use with the Rep2, and now an updated extruder, which should make it much easier to print with the Makerbot. (this one is not designed by me) I like to fiddle around with it as much as I like to do actual useful stuff with it . See you *Fuchur*
  13. Maybe with a 5-pointer and flipped normals? And try a hook too... had bad luck with those situations. See you *Fuchur*
  14. Hi, I just did a small video tutorial about how to use A:M to create a STL-file for Makerware, the software to print with the Replicator 2 (or 2x) from Makerbot. Hope someone finds it useful: A:M to Makerware See you *Fuchur*
  15. I love the drive through that mouth/tunnel/music-world... really well done See you *Fuchur*
  16. You may want to have a look at the beginners video tuts at my website. See my signature. See u *Fuchur*
  17. Very strange... you are sure that you did not use T for something in the windows-environment which could overwrite this? Is this happening with Turn only or other things too? Did you try to set the Keyboard shortcut to a different character (lets say X just to test it and make sure)? See you *Fuchur*
  18. Every time I've added another object to my city street back lot, I've been doing successful test renders. Adding the 21st object, my locomotive & tender, caused the choking. In a different chor the loco renders successfully, so I assume it`s this particular combination. During the failed render, with only A:M running, the RAM usage never went beyond 3.5Gb on a machine with 16 so I don`t think I ran out. That would likely be the sky backdrop (144 Mb) but that`s object number one in all my other chors that render happily. The good news is I still have FTP access so I can recreate the directory structure and upload all the components folder by folder without trying to upload one huge zip file. If you have a FTP-account, just upload the big zip-file. FTP should not have any limitations in uploadsize. It is much easier for Steffen to download one file and decompress that in general (I am not sure if he can access your FTP-account via FTP, and if not you would have to provide each and every file as a link... very much work for both of you. See you *Fuchur*
  19. Best wishes and have a great day! See you *Fuchur*
  20. Did you check the darkness-setting of the Light-properties > Shadow as I asked in the other post? However it should not be different in the renderers... I'll test that. See you *Fuchur*
  21. Really interesting how much trouble you are facing... I never found the device a must have, but all in all it worked okay for me... See you *Fuchur*
  22. Really looks quite well . A little bit work on here walking/sneaking but it really is well done and I like the whole composition quiet much... The music is nice, the character is visible and the new version were she gets rid of the hand of the guy is looking much more feminine. Keep on rocking *Fuchur*
  23. Best wishes David Let's celebrate . See you *Fuchur*
  24. Depending on what you got there both are good ways. If you for instance have triangles, Retopology is MUCH easier than getting the stuff right in A:M. If you have a very high polygone-amount it will be better too. If you have a model with good edge loops and quads and at a lower resolution, deleting is very likely the better option (if you are not running into finding normals-waiting times which are just too long). I had very good experiences with Retopology and would recommend it for the given situations and I did the deleting of parts and splines after importing too. Both are valid and nice methodes and it just depends on the case you are in at the moment. See you *Fuchur*
  25. Very likely not. But it would be before that. A:M would still interpret X-axis data but in reallity it would be the y-axis which would be manipulated by the device. This is called remapping. A:M would think it would receice X-data but it would really be data of another axis but the API inbetween just remaps the informations. Try out if it works. It may be possible. See you *Fuchur*
