  1. Nice! Can't wait to see some preliminary renders of the new character models... A Picard CG Puppet (Cuppet) with Borg gear on. LoL
  2. Purchased... Look forward to receipt and viewing!
  3. Yup, I can slam six nodes on this machine. I have the other two machines configured to be dual nodes each. So I should be able to get at least ten that way. If I fire up my other old machine, that would be twelve. Did some render work for someone here as a test. Went pretty fast too. Cheers!
  4. That's awesome news... not to mention the fact that the packages are stuck to your ceiling. LoL Great work... good luck at the con! I look forward to my web purchase late in May.
  5. Still a bit of splining issue with Piece on the larger radius side. Other than that, it looks really good!
  6. Here's a old project I dug up, tweaked and re-rendered for my Android Tablet boot animation. Enjoy. Acbtest.mp4
  7. thejobe, My biggest irk on all the lighting image tests you've done so far would be that all of your CG models are in nearly if not perfect focus, where as some or most of the images have just a hair out of focus. Maybe adjust your focal length on the CG just a hair, or maybe apply a slight blur to the high resolution images as a whole. Great tests!!!
  8. Nicely done Robert. Can you show the uninformed how you accomplished that animation?

    Curl!

robcat, Nicely done my friend. The larger grid size explains being able to keep the corners in the 'roll' during the turn. Cheers!
  10. 10k patches with a decent system is no problem. It's when you push the 40k or 50k range that it really starts to drag badly. Especially if you've done a lot of deleting and adding to the same structures. One way to speed the model back up is to copy and paste the entire mesh into a new model. This forces A:M to reorganize all the CPs and Splines. If you do this before you start any rigging or any decal work, then it's WAY easier to manipulate a model that size. Also, remember you can assemble model pieces in an action and this will reduce the complexity of a section edit. Yes, your purchase of V16.0 Web subscription qualifies you for a full year of access to the program, regardless of version changes. If you pony up for the CD version then you will probably want to wait until V17.0 hits public release, so you can get it and not V16.0. That being said, I was very reluctant to go the subscription route at first, but when I heard that NetRender is in the web subscription AND we can purchase extra Nodes now over the default limit (4 for the web subscription and 8 for the CD version), I was happy indeed. Welcome back!
  11. Yep, that's Google hard at work. I work for a Spa (Hot Tub) dealer and we do sales and repair. So, I get banner advertisements all the time that are related to the sale of Hot Tubs of all kinds. Even though most of my 'browsing' is to the manufacturer's web site for technical and documentation. I've had an okay time with Zazzle, but again, the shirt prices are a bit high. But they are pretty good quality. Better than Cafe Press I'd say.
  12. Yes, Congratulations William!! Noelle and I wish you two all the best. We are quickly approaching the Nine year mark! YAHOOO!!!! You just let me know how I can help and I'll do my best. Props, set modeling, animate scenes, etc. I may be able to write some, but I'd have to know the existing story setting to that point in order to take it somewhere. Unless you are doing a bunch of parallel story lines. Anyhoo... welcome back!
  13. Yes, nice 'drop in' and floor effect. Great work!
  14. Those are both VERY cool. I've saved them in case I need something like fireflies or fairies in a jar. LoL
  15. Looks like a good start... I was waiting for the spitball to come out.

Yes, excellent story telling. Short or not... well done!
  17. The only differences between the 32-bit and 64-bit versions is the ability to access more memory. If you are simply rigging a character, you can use the 32-bit version with TSM2, save the character and then open it with 64-bit AM and see your rig in place and use it. The only reason you need to run the 32-bit version is to utilize the TSM2 plugin or any older plugin that is not designed for the 64-bit version. Cheers!

  19. All, I will be purchasing more nodes this week and will be offering up my farm FREE for final renders on this project. The requirements for final rendering assistance will be a basic shaded render at 240p with audio preset but without audio and a single frame in final 480p settings. I'm not sure of my capacity yet. I will be doing some tests this week. I too look forward to participating as well. Great set!!!
  20. Excellent effect! If put in the right angle with enough overlay and darkened down a bit, would really look like the real thing! Thanks Robert!!!
  21. Creatively cool my friend... !!! Awesome job!
  22. I used an actual model of the sun as well as placing a light source slightly larger than the sphere in the same position. I also turned on lens flare to make sure it showed up properly. If you want an un-flared light source you will probably have to place a light source and model and make sure the model is 100% ambiance intensity with whatever color you want it to be. Here's a quick render I did just now... you can always adjust the lens flare to your own taste. Hope that helps... cheers!
