agep Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 I have been updating my demoreel quite a bunch lately. Added some new stuff and rerendered most of the old stuff (v.13 IBL). I guess I should have continued in the old thread but the old one is a bit outdated, so I hope you guys forgive me starting a new thread The demoreel do have some jagging in both the sound and the motion due to an bug in the editing software. Anyway. Here is an direct link to the demoreel: Approximately 18MB, Lenght: 2:26. Right click and save target as.... -=QuickTime=- -=Windows Media=- Let me know what you think Comments and crits are appreciated Regards Stian Quote
KenH Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Great stuff. You could probably speed it up abit. I pressed the fast forward button and it read fine. Quote
agep Posted February 28, 2006 Author Posted February 28, 2006 Thanks Ken. Do you mean that I should speed up the whole reel? faster rotation on the models? Quote
MMZ_TimeLord Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 I think he's speaking more of on the holds... not holding as long... and yeah, probably a little faster on the rotations... I really liked it... excellent work there! Quote
Zaryin Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 I thought it was great. I hope you have a higher quality version though for when you send it out. I got a lot of artifacting the one I watched. Quote
MattWBradbury Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Did you go back and redo some of your shots with HDRI? Everything looks awsome. I just wish I had that much talent. Quote
dborruso Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Beautiful work. I hope you get a lot of jobs and a lot of money with a:m work because you deserve it. You do quantity and quality. Bravo! Quote
oakchas Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 great work Stian! quality and quantity no doubt... I hope you can get paid for the work you do... Your skills arre very good! very nice! Quote
agep Posted March 1, 2006 Author Posted March 1, 2006 Thanks guys Did you go back and redo some of your shots with HDRI? Everything looks awsome. I just wish I had that much talent. Thanks Matt. Yes, I rendered the rotating models in IBL and HDRI sphere. It is thanks to you and your brother experimenting with lights that have made me understand it better Quote
Frank Silas Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Stain you ROCK!!! Frank Silas http://www.franksilas.com Quote
DeeJay Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Hei Stian! Nice Models, Materials & Lighting! The speed is ok, I didn't get bored. ;-) Keep up the good work! Cheers, David Quote
agep Posted March 8, 2006 Author Posted March 8, 2006 Thanks guys. Glad you liked it. I would like to get more input regarding the rotate duration, if it is to long or not. Quote
Dhar Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 I personally don't think it's too long. This is a demoreel, you need to demonstrate your work, which means to give the prospective customer time to examine the work. I wouldn't change a thing. Quote
JB1 Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 very detailed modeling, would suggest having the animation of the workspace move into the moniter instead of zooming out. Quote
agep Posted March 12, 2006 Author Posted March 12, 2006 which means to give the prospective customer time to examine the work. That was what I was aiming at, without killing them with boredom. My last version had a very fast duration that made it hard to examine the the models very detailed modeling, would suggest having the animation of the workspace move into the moniter instead of zooming out. My idea behind the zoom is that first you'll see the project then you'll see the finished project (like the others; wire to final) Thanks for your comments guys Quote
TeresaNord Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 very cool My favorite part is where you zoom out to see the finished project! Quote
Gerry Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Stian, all this is beautiful work! My two cents: I'd like to see some camera moves on the models that you are showing as stills. Doesn't need much, just a touch to show them off a bit and make the viewing experience a little more dynamic. Also, the QT version has a lot of jaggies. Hopefully your final render will be more slick. And the robot rolling off his pedestal was just the right touch! Good luck with this, it's great stuff. Gerry Quote
agep Posted March 14, 2006 Author Posted March 14, 2006 Thanks Teresa and Gerry I'd like to see some camera moves on the models that you are showing as stills. yeah I agree to that, but most of the stills are to time consuming to render as animation, and I also havent found the time to set up new renders (read: a portion lazyness ) Thanks Regards Stian Quote
