Very nice. This would be a good tutorial. Something that is not overwhelming and can be applied to other projects.

Looks good. So you're making the clothes as a separate model? I also purchased the Cristen McKee series. I like it better the Jeff Lew.
-
Very nice. I never thought of changing up "Shaggy" to be a girl. It works. What rig are you using?

So far it looks very cool. How did you do the rendering settings? It has a unique look. -
Is it that her head doesn't look up (that much) as she jumps?
-
Very nice. Do you just hide the normal ground in the chor. when you do this or just place it on top of the ground?

Thanks Vern, I feared that would be the answer, I was hopping for an easy one. Maybe one day. -

Very nice! I have a dumb question. When the characters were pushing against the door and each other, how do you prevent them from going right into the door or each other. Is that with a constraint? In other words, how did you make them solid so they can't pass through anything? -
I think you have to render each shot from each camera. Then edit the two shots together in a video editor. I think you can edit the shots in AM, but I'm use to using a video editor.

If I wasn't open to feedback on my animations or what post, I wouldn't be here. As you wrote: "so this added technique is not always necessary" I looked at the animation and thought it could use this technique, some did not. It is up the the animator to decide what is right for their project. I think you have to look at what the complete project is. How is the animation being used, who is the audience, how is it going to be displayed, and is the animation a key part of the scene, or just part of the background.

I never get "riled" up, life is too short. I like these post, you get a lot of different views.

It has nothing to do with being squashy, it is an animation principle.
-
The ball seems to have a lot of "hang time", and a little more bounce. Also there should be some squash when the ball hits. In the graph editor you can "peek"(I think that's what you would call it) the keys where the ball hits the ground to make a sharper bounce.

I save the copy and save the choreography as a different name. That way if the file goes bad, I still have the Choreography files.

Very cool! The only thing I noticed is in the second movie, he was just frozen at the start. Maybe some eye or face movement before the walk cycle.
-
Looks great! Was this all AM or did you do some work in After Effects?
-
I remember that post, because you're a Detroiter, as am I. Didn't you post an example? From what I remember someone did, and it looked good!

I have an old Mac (G4), and I'm using V15. I notice I can animate and move around the Chor. window in wireframe better then shaded. The program will quit on my if I start clicking one menu item after another quickly. I would be interested to know if that will still happen when I upgrade my Mac. I like AM, even with the price increase there is still no other program that can do what it does for the price. PLEASE KEEP SUPPORTING MAC's! I know were a small market share, but were a loyal group.

Thank you. I ended up redoing the animation, but it is good to know that one!

I have a simple animation completed. I want to replace the animated model with another model. Can this be done or do I have to put the model in and animate again?
-
Sorry. Didn't mean to cause a problem. Thanks for looking into it. I'll be more specific next time I make a post like that. Everything seems to work, and I'm back animating.

Ok, Here is the project and the model. I took the head from the "Basic Guy" which is on the extra's CD and DVD. He was rigged with the set up machine. I have a hard time using it, so I wanted to use the new V13 rig, which is what I am use to. I am on a Mac, and I am using V15 of AM. Again it seems to work, but if you see a big mistake I made, let me know. Thanks, Andy Chair_new_guy.prj Thom_new_rig.mdl

I'm rendering right now. So I have to try that later. For some reason the head bone was was not under the back bone in the rig. I attached a different head to Thom. I assigned the bones to the new head, but I may have moved some things around. I will embed and post the project after I'm done rendering. I bought the "Animate with Cristen McKee" CD's. They are good. They are like doing mini lessons to help with the animation. So that what this project is. I have a character standing up from a chair.
-
I think I fixed it. The head bone was not under the back controller. So far so good.

Hey Mark, I'm using the Thom model with the new rig for some animation practice, and when I move the chest controller the neck and head do not follow. In fact the head bone (or controller) doesn't seem to follow at all. Did I miss something is using this rig? Thanks, Andy
