  1. That would work, I'm trying to get a rounded screw head. I just can't figure it out. Now it is just an issue with being able to do it. Thanks
  2. I'm trying to add detail to some vents and wall outlets. Namely, screw heads. For the the life of me I can't figure out how to make a bolt, or screw head...any tutorials or suggestions?
  3. Thanks for the help everyone, I knew I could count on this site. I decided to model my house. I have a small ranch, so it is going well. I don't know if this is the "correct" procedure, but I just made each wall a separate model. (build to size) that way I can move, turn on and off a wall if needed. Yes the floor is going to be expensive, even with a small house it will cost me, but I'm just in the planning stages now. Here's a look,
  4. Thanks, I have a mac so I can't use Dark Tree. I'm thinking I'm going to do each board with a material
  5. Hey, I wanted to see what my living room would look like with a wood floor. I built the walls, and now I'm working on the floor, and thinking of my options: 1. Make a large decal in Photoshop by copying a sample of floor I found on line 2. Putting a decal or material on one board, and keep coping that board until I have a finished floor (I'm thinking that will kill my render times 3? Am I missing another option? (I tried the duplicator plug in, but it won't copy the decal. Any ideas?
  6. Do you mean merge the two files or combine the renders from the two files?
  7. Looks good! I have two questions: How did you light this? (one sun or several lights) also, is that just a blue sky placed into the camera?
  8. Well if you like the program I don't see the problem. You can buy the CD then you don't have to worry about $80 a year. I've tried using Blender, it is designed by programers, not end users, so it is hard to use, and limited support. I've taught basic classes in 3DS Max, not a fan, not to mention the cost. For $80 dollars you get a strong program, and if you're using this at home it's hard to beat.
  9. I ordered some training CD's here: http://www.sharbor.com/ They are old, they use version 10. However, 99% of what they tech works. The modeling CD really was a help.
  10. That looks great! I like how the UFO goes behind the ship. The reflection looks more realistic too. Add a camera shake and this is ready for uTube!
  11. Thanks, that did it!
  12. I want to select several points, and align all of them at once what two x and y positions. Is there a way to do this?
  13. Threw away the tape just because of the rig? Wow, that's cold. I like the 2008 rig. I never used the SquetchRig, I never got through installing the rig. Are you saying the 2008 is more advanced then the SquetchRig?
  14. Thanks for the links and ideas. I have some reading to do. What I ment by even, is like a classroom, or office type lighting.
  15. Hey, I want to do a room with an even lighting, almost like fluorescent lights, what would the best method be?
  16. You may want to add the film grain filter to this. The animation looks good, and the model looks too good, in other words the model is more shape then the video.
  17. Off the top of my head I noticed the hands were locked. It looks like you have a lot of keyframes, or something, it looks jittery. (unless that's the look you're going for)
  18. Very cool! Are the lights on the hull decals or lights?
  19. These are all good points....just when you think you have a handle on this stuff....there is more to learn!
  20. Thanks for the reply, that is some good information. It sort of reminds me of the Sam Buntrock CD's (Live action in AM) He placed files as decals on a model, and layered each sequence. As for the lights, would you make a like model separate too? Or would you have the lights if the first pass? I'm going to make a simple project to try this. Thanks
  21. Hey, I know I've read about this somewhere in here but I can't find it. Am I better off rendering each part of a project separately then compositing it in AE or AM? For example, if it is a small video (under a minute) is this worth the trouble? For example, Jeff Lew's "Killer Bean" (the party) was each shot created in the Chor, or layered and composited together. Thanks, Andy
  22. Thanks, I think that is what I'm looking for.
  23. I know this has been covered before, I just can't find the post. I want to make a brick wall, which I know I can use a decal. However I want to add a bump map or material to make the wall look more textured. Wasn't there a post about this? So what will give the best result.... just a decal, a bump map, or just a material. Thanks!
  24. He could have recorded the movements separate from the audio. That way he could speed up the video to fit narration. It seemed that way to me. His DVD's are good. You may want to check out Cristin McKee too. I've been trying to do each lesson and build off of them. The only thing I did different is rigged the models with the 2008 rig. I didn't have luck using the rigs provided.
  25. I used the Jeff Lew DVD's too. I downloaded the green guy and put the 2008 rig in him.
