  1. In some cases, IRL (in real life) this actually occurs. Does anyone remember the "space ray guns" (I don't really remeber what they were actually called) that shot a ringed propeller off the end of the gun? If you shot it straight up, the propeller disc would sail in the air... but it sometimes appeared to be reversing it's rotation direction in mid flight. By the laws of physics it should not have done that, and continued to go upward, but it certainly seemed to. My father told me that was impossible... (I was, like, 6 or so)... I "proved" it was possible by shooting the disc at the top of the molding above a door frame. The disc spun along the top of the frame, and then reversed direction, but when it reversed, it did not fly away from the wall off of the molding ledge, it merely continued along the ledge in the opposite direction until it fell, still spinning, of the end of the ledge. Anyway, it was an interesting phenomenon, and at ~6, I had no way to explain it... it just did it... and the old man was amazed, too. Pardon the digression.. but I guess I'm saying sometimes things really are as they appear. (Maybe A:M follows these odd laws of physics, too? )
  2. very cool! Now a question, oh Lord Of MUFOOF. Sometimes a still of something like a propeller, as you show it, has slightly more "density" in the blur at certain "stations" of the clock. The photo captures the blur of the propeller, as you have , but it is also possible to detemine that it is a two or three bladed prop, because there is a concentration of the blur at, say (for example of a 2 bladed prop) 10 and 5 o'clock... Is it possible to recreate this with your method... or would that have to be done in post?
  3. Motility! Slow Down Man! You're scarin' me! Jumping through exercises like each one is the next level in DOOM or something... Whew! You're gonna wear out your CD! Welcome aboard... I just happened to notice how you're zippin' thru stuff and, well, I just had to say something! At the rate you're going you'll be able to join in the TWO movie project by next weekend or so! Keep up the good work (and don't forget to sleep every once in a while and eat your vegetables, too! Kay?)!
  4. very nice! Take the coffee carafe off the floor... If this is a basement flat, the concrete under the tile will chill even a thermal carafe... tepid coffee is no way to "get to the next level." And forget the mouse, get a Wacom tablet! And you need more books on the shelves! Oh wait... this is a render not a photo... speaking of which, how about a comparison shot? real vs rendered... that'd be really cool! Great job as usual... 11 hours ouch! You "norskies" always so darned efficient with your space... one tiny crumpled sheet of paper on the floor... BAH!
  5. Very nice image, very creative... I do like the storybook character of the whole pic... Sorry you didn't make the contest. Can't imagine riging him, would like to see him in some animation.
  6. get rid of the people at the bottom of the shot.. one is captured mid step. The UFO has too much glow... and doesn't change size when going into distance. I am one of those bib overall wearin' country bumpkin hayseeds thats been abducted by one o dose things and I'm tellin you fer true... or not... But it's fun anyway!
  7. I figured they were... that's why I couldn't understand... but then David mentioned the minor problems with the squtech and the spine ... maybe that's it... Anyway it sure is fun to watch you experts play with this stuff!
  8. I've been lurking on this post for a bit.... Zach, I noticed that "punkin' head" seems a bit baggy... in his skin... while "Sqetchy thom" (in the last tumble mov) didn't seem to have that problem. I know this rig isn't final final yet.. but I noticed that, and assume that Punkin head is merely a slightly altered thom... but why the (well his skin looks more like a garbage bag as far as wrinkling etc than thoms) what causes that?
  9. after your nap... www.cadsymbols.com might find useful trees there in format that can be converted to 3DS... for less... may not help at all... but I tried.

    Singer

While I can view the stills just fine, the Mov kicks me out of IExplorer (ver 6.0,SP2) after her head moves a bit (first couple of frames). Otherwise, she's still beautiful (but shame on you for oiling her body like that) ah well... "You Italians..." Said the ugly American shaking his head slowly as he walks off wishing he could have (made) such a babe.... "sigh" Welcome back Vince... The quality was worth waiting for.
  11. I like both. The 2D version has a bit more going on in it... that I think should carry over to the 3D version... "Liquid" in the large letters, S in Bros. is a different shape ... Entertainment is in a Star Trek like font... But, I like yours, as it is... I just think, translated to 2D for letterhead, business card etc... your 3D version will be a bit "flat" in more than one way... HTH, it's just an opinion
  12. See, This is why I believe Emilio's (not Xtaz's) first "claymation"ever in the OT forum is really A:M or... this biker dude is really clay... either way... fantastic work... How did you get the "clay" bike to look so shiny? the only give away are those dull lamps! hee hee! Geeze, you really are really really good at this stuff!
  13. Dan, it's from the TWO project. Ken, I dunno if you have them "over there" but the throne looks pretty much like a papasan chair, Google that, you'll see hundreds of examples from real life. Baal's is just tipped back more to bowl configuration... you prolly already knew this... but, just passing it on...
  14. here are a couple of links... assuming you are using A:M.. otherwise you will have to use the jpatch site to find how he does it...the basics, not winks but q vids here is # 1 by seven, you can do a search on his name for many tutes sevens basic tute #1 good luck
  15. Marcos, You have certainly found your talent in A:M. Very nice images, all. I like your wallpaper execution a great deal. thank you for sharing!
  16. St. Exupery lives! That was my first thought... I liked the character... thought him a bit...continental..... Then the wonderful stories of St. Ex came to mind... And, your character bears a bit of a resemblance.... Coincidence? Or Channeling? you be the judge.... I like him! a lot... I'm a private pilot... all things flying are great! And I want to see him fly the mail over Africa and France and such... Hurry!
  17. Mike! Very cool.... There are other ways to do this I'm sure... I just don't know what they are. I do know this... You could have the now existing model duplicated in wood for less... pick your wood... Walnut burl, manzanita root, teak, oak... whatever
  18. Nice job! You really did well on it! On time and on budget! good fer you!
  19. So, it's Monday... project was due today... didja get it textured? It's Show and Tell time!
  20. Thanks, S.L. I like it... IIRC mine was a late 60's model... maybe early 70s but I doubt it... they were a bit narrower then... no decals... no skid tape... just an oval hunk o' wood without a kicker but at least I had orange/brown composite ball bearing wheels... some of the kids still had metal wheels on theirs... down the hill by the lagoon in Lincoln Park...wooo hooo! Of course, now, at nearly 50, it'd kill me... but thanks for the memories!
  21. Okay, so you ain't a spline master... I woulda liked to see it... And Hash, in general, seems to show the newbie stuff as much as the ohmigod stuff... I beleive Martin supports our endeavors, actually enjoying watching us progress in our mastery of the software... but, if it isn't up to your standards of your own best work.. then post it in WIP... get some critiques... and some ideas on how to improve it... But don't stop and leave us hangin' It's kinda like there are no stupid questions...
  22. You went to a lot of work! all the lip synch... movement... nice job... no really nice, for a second animation, better than that, even. I hope I can do as well. I see what you mean from your other post about the audio... long download... is that putfile? Or is it your compression or lack of it? Keep working on the concept... it could be alot of fun!
  23. very nice! I like the clay look, too.. I'll have to remember no specularity... Thanks for sharing!
  24. Is Too! And Star Trek is real... And Lucas found out about all that Evil Emperor stuff when he was abducted by real alienses on Independence day, but fortunately he was returned to the top of Devil's Tower when we played the music and he was able to tell the story from the perspective of a little boy who rode his bicycle thru the sky and almost hit the moon... and that's the truth thbthht But I digest.... Showing my age here... but I seem to remember a cartoon (loosely based on history) involving a dog (Mr. Peabody??? ...yep, I think that part is right....) and a young lad... at the end of the toon, the letters in the credit roll fell down and some guy (janitor character) swept them off.. stage right... So, overthinking it, as I am wont to do....It's a previously successful concept... The only thing that's wrong with it is the stitching on the baseball, the color of the letters and the fact that there's no follow thru... and WORST OF ALL... There ain't none of John Bigbootes' beautiful wimmins in the shot... bending down to pick up the letters! Yeah, that's the ticket! My sincere apoplexies to any wimmins who might have been offended by my remarks.. I jes calls 'em like I sees 'em! PS, If you choose not to add it to your reel... I'll add it to mine! Couldn't hurt. huh?
  25. Seems you have the props right for a low-rent bar, or especially one in a hotel (or "no tell motel") ... A lot of stories can originate in such a place. The lights over the tables are a bit bright... Carpet's okay, just needs "muddied up" a bit around the door, and a bit less sharp elsewhere. Needs more light under the bar on the back side (so the bar tender can see what he's mixing up) and less light on the bar and back bar wall. Hope you don't mind the crits... I really like the concept & direction... just trying to make it more "real."
