Vincenzo. Stop. Just STOP! I can't take it! These wimmin's ain't real! This is unfair! You can draw, you can model, but you can't bring them to life! Argggh! Another beauty! I like John Bigboote's girlie stuff, 'cause they are just a bit too unreal (well, maybe not in California). But yours, Vincenzo, look like they might just have been based on a real live person of the female persuasion... and it's just scary... no body can look that good (well, except maybe "the girl from Ipanema"). I like her... a bit funky on the modeled hair where it goes into the skull at the top of the forehead... but, that's so minor. The top of her dress is really form fitting, and I really appreciate how it squeezes her soft parts just a bit (where the top of the bra meets the flesh)! Mmmph. She's a nice one! And she can come down my chimney any day... In fact, I'll build her the chimney next year!
  3. Thanks Vern, Kinda confirmed what I was thinking. Now, on to finishing it up!
  4. I'm trying to model a '50's style fedora similar to the one shown. The hat itself is little problem, but my challenge especially concerns the portion of the band circled in yellow. Would it be better to model this in geometry or as a (bump, normal, or displacement) map... I'm concerned that a map would make it less 3D than it is, though the actual "bow" on a fedora is pretty form-fitting in real life, it does have dimension and this photo shows it fairly well at the rear of the bow where it is obviously not "decaled" to the hat, but a seperate piece. [attachmentid=12783] Of course, since it would be part of complex scenes (with a person under it) patch count will be important in the long run. Thanks for your input,
  5. a program called autostitch would put together your snaps. In order to do a panoramic environment with no geometry (a background) I suppose you would just make a ring around the area you are centered in and paste the panorama decal as is on the inside of the ring. Look in Radiosity forum for info on HDR lighting, that may help you as well. Autostich is free (non commercial use) do a google on it, you should find it (it comes up as the first "hit" for me). all of this depends on how elaborate/accurate you want to be.
  6. Yes Rodger! I think you've nailed it! Very good. Sorry for the nit picks... It just looked too angular.
  7. No, David... Thank YOU! Hope you had a Merry Christmas. You certainly made all of ours much brighter with all of your hard work! I look forward to using thes rigs as I get more adept. Sincerely,
  8. Parkinsons is a disease, apparently it even affects animated creatures, why are we laughing at the poor creature? Bwahahahah! I still don't understand why John doesn't model... he's cute!
  9. of the two, i prefer the old bend. Back to the crimps. Since no one in the world (besides yourself) has ACTUALLY counted the requisite number of crimps, why not broaden them so that they almost touch? It would look more correct as they wouldn't be spaced so far apart. But after all it's only a bottletop... it ain't no pianey. And here's an example of what I mean... (I realize this is NOT an actual bottle cap... but the crimping is what we expect to see (wavy at the bottom of the crimp, not so far separated) and therefore "good" signage. [attachmentid=12454]
  10. Sure, I'd like to have my name thrown in. Thanks to genocel, and all the "starving artists."
  11. You take pictures of wood? R Reynolds used a chrch key? Fogies! Vern, I'm surprised the BORG (Big Orange Retail Giant aka Home Despot) would allow you to take pix of anything in their store.... Afraid you'll steal all their marketing idears and overthrow them. Resistance is futile, you will be assimilated. oh and Rodger, the contrtast doesn't bother me as much as the fact that there aren't enough crimps in the cap. The bottle is beautiful.. but the liquid is "flat" somehow... not lacking bubbles flat... maybe it needs caustics? But then, maybe it's just been out in the hot sun too long.
  12. yep... that was FUN! I'm getting buried in potential snowmen as we speak... It's good to know they will melt! Johnny Carson Voice> I did not know that!

Click!, Shhhhhuuuuuck! BANG! (hope that helped)
  14. The "Charlie's Angels" of the drillin' biz! Yep, they're my angels alright! Yep that's the ticket... mine all mine! Nice graphic Paul!
  15. WoW! Your egghead characters look almost as real as the dog (except for the ear thingy on the father character, and that's my only crit)! How did you get them into the seated position so well! I have trouble doing that with my rigs... they just kinda look like I leaned them into the chairs. Great job, I can see why the eggheads sent it out as their e card!

Yes, and a Gulf Stream jet too! "Otherwise, V, she would be mine!" He says, pensively twisting his pencil thin moustache!
  17. I've never seen one of those... (magik link) I had the rubick's cube and the pyramid and the globe... Nice animation, X!
  18. nice stuff! How long you been splining?
  19. HA:MR might make this possible... you'll have t look in the development forums subforum HA:MR. I don't think it's completed yet.

Vincenzo! I like it! In real life of course, (usually, or if the dress is undersized) there is a point (from a seam) where you have eliminated one. And, the "wings" above the breasts tend to not conform so perfectly to the actual form below. That said, this is not reality! Were it, I would fly over in my GS, pick her up in my Maserati, and take her away from you by showering her with gifts and shiny baubles! (Alas, that is not reality either!)
  21. Wow! Well, I think we all look forward to seeing more of your stuff! Keep 'em coming. Start on your autobiography now...
  22. overall, I like it. But that is one bright candle! I dunno how to fix it.
  23. zip the file. then you can upload it. Just a question, couldn't you use a distortion box to make it act like a mattress without all those splines?
  24. Not bad, you could have posted it here, you know? I think you did a good job on the glowing parts and the blade.

I don't know what they think is wrong with the dress "up there." Strapless gowns often have the wings above the "up there" parts (I think they're called breasts in the vernacular). Not a style I care for.... but I think it's accurate... I would rather see her in a spaghetti-strapped gown, with one of the straps falling occasionally (or just once) during her song. Don't anybody touch her... she's too hot to handle! At least for any of us on this side of the pond! But, boy... given the chance... Reminds me of the "girl from ipanema" (sp?) Tanassi, she is beautiful!
