  1. I couldnt find the right word, but i mean robotic . . . the character looks very much alive
  2. Well , delete all of the lights in the scene, except the one you wnt to illuminate the room. If you are using a bulb (light a bulb on the ceiling) then make it so the falloff just touches all of the walls, and set the annutention to about 70 or 80. To get a pure white scene, will look ugly, its to harsh on the eye, with about 90 percent intensity and 70 percent annutention, you can get a pretty soft overall illumination . . . I think, another thing to experiment with, is multiple bulbs in one light. For example, if you ever go to a school, the lights on the ceiling are rectangles, try making a rectangular light with the width:height proportion 2:3 then make 6 bones in a 2 by 3 array each equally sepertaed. Make a new action/pose. Make a new light Drag the light into the action and each time, put a constraint on each light, to translate 2 one of the bones (each light must be contstrained 2 a diff bone) Put the model in the chor, then add the action/pose, and adjust the settings in the new light, to get the affect you want. I would sugest falloff so that none of the lights touch the walls but are close, then about 12 percent intensity with 65 percent annutention . . . Or of course i could just post the model for you . . . but i think it helps you to learn about lighting if you do it yourself and experiemnt. Good luck, interesting shot bytheway Ben
  3. nice . . . it really brings across a certain type of emtion from a deadish thing . . . I like it
  4. It seems you have a glass plate or somthing infront of the light . . . move the light so it is just infront of that, and make sure nothing is in front of it. I had this problem when my character was holding a gun with a flashlight, the flashlight beam was interupted just slightly by the characters hand, and it turned out all weird like that Good job though, i like the model Hope it helps Ben PS, about the windows, try maybe a higher intesity on the light, and maybe add a glow to the winows? or some ambience
  5. The gold is probably fine the way it was, but what matters is the lighting, a standard choreography in AM doesnt exactly have the best lighting. Try giving the scene a sun filtering through something so that only parts of the robot are highlighted, but the whole thing can still be scene. That way the gold will be vibrant in areas, but reflective in others. It's kind of hard to explain, ill post an example if you want PS nice job though, i really like the character
  6. interesting, but good I like it becuase it makes me want to know what he is doing, or why he awoke, or was he depressed I take it this will be explained in the movie? I hope so Nice job so far
  7. hmm, kinda reminds me of sothing . . . o ya thats it, the pixar light I think he would look better if he were really prestine gold silver and sharp dark grey rubbers, maybe with blue glowing buttons BUT besides that looks great!!! I want to see some animation oout of him . . . plz? Ben
  8. Holy crap, REALLY nice job I love the headlights . . . i hope my picutres helped neither can i wait for a spin!!! good job One thing ghouhm what about the grill? Ben
  9. thatd be cool if you modled n riged her,id def like to see it in 3d
  10. Great i cant wait to see a render There are some close ups of porsche headlights Good luck with everything!!! Ben
  11. ok srry, i had to resave this about 5 differant times b4 i realized there was no compression (10 mb without) Here it is 715 kb Quicktime swat_man_test.mov
  12. Hey thats cool! I like your drawings and i guess if its a mobile bat cave then it does have to be pretty big! I like your first design from 1991 alot! it just looks cool Neway good job, cant wait for more
  13. Hey everybody, I just gotta say thanks again to jamagica for his rig, I really love it. Anyway, i was up pretty late last night, and finished my first human character EVER!!! He is rigged, almost done mapped, and fully ready to kick some butt. (except for his helmet, i need to do somthing to that so i dont look like a fro) These results are wonderful for me! I added a few bones to the rig, to fix a few problems with intersecting stuff I hope you like it. PS. this is just a really rough test, but it (shows off my finished character) swat_dude_test.rar
  14. Thats wonderful! I really think you did a great job on this guy ( espeacially the rig) Thanks for sharing, i have a character im going to use this rig for Thanks Ben
  15. It looks pretty good, but i think its to tall, the front section is slender and reminds me of a bird of prey. The back looks like an elephant I think it would be cool if you modled it like a bird, just mechanical and spaceship like. Good start though Ben
  16. make two half spheres a bit apart from each other, pop another one in there, and you are all set! The indside sphere will act as the joint, with casing around it. Or then again, you could always do it my favorite way . . . with the 6 tubes conecting the joints. To see what i mean you can check out my robot WIP that i never finished My robot thread looks great!
  17. ok i admit the hips move, but its very slight (for a track sprinter) However, with this character, and how much mass is on top, i belive the hips would have to move. I did say though, that i didnt think he was going for a sprinter look. Ben
  18. LOL, nice drawings. That figure looks nice, perhaps, once hes rigged, for those of us whos animation skills lack, we could all do an exercise, with the same character. Then when done compare and lealrn from others. hehe, still cant get over the last one! Ben
  19. I like it. About the breathing, hips, and such. My dad has a video of me running in my conferance track meet (the big thing and by the way we won!) I was a sprinter, and when i watched the video, all that moved was my arms and legs, when someone runs fast enough, the motion carries them through and the hips don't move up or down. When running, you are supposed to keep a loose jaw, that way you run faster ( I don't know why, thats what my coaches said) I found when i run, i grit my teeth, and breath heavily through them. That way i dont get to much air (so i dont passout or whatever), but i can exert alot of force in my running. I don't think your going for a track sprinter look, but those are just some things to consider. Looks cool Ben
  20. How about, you make 4 little thruster pods with nozzles around each one, and when the guy wants to fly fast, they expand then contract real quickly to direct the thrust more effieciently. Like a plane . . . Nice comic strip! loved it . . . the character looks good, keep it up! Ben
  21. That looks good! Cant wait for more! Ben
  22. Wow, that looks really good! I love the tree . . . and the beetle, and the whole scene! Did you use sweeper for all of those leaves and stems? Great work Ben
  23. extrude those inward a few times and those will look very nice in my opinion! keep it up! Ben
  24. Yes, exactly what Mr Poissant said, I've read the cornell box tut about 10 times. Also look at the tuts at His website. It also helps to just look around in the radiosity forum glad i could inspire
  25. Wow, thats really good . . . I did somthing like that for a river of mine . . . I'll see if i can dig it up
