  1. That works, it bring in the image and then it lets me select the image as a decal. Just doesn't seem to want to do it directly. That should at least get you back to working on your project. You should also be able to right-click on the Images folder and choose Import
  2. How about if you go to the upper left corner and do File>Open and navigate to where your image is saved?
  3. Well, after "restarting" that was going to be my first guess.... what happens if you load an older PRJ that has some images in it already and try to add a new image to it?
  4. Yes, they were fake. The stuff they were showing was impossible. Today, anyway.
  5. During the trailers at the movies yesterday there was a commercial showing people doing absolutely amazing, mind-blowing, incredible things with Kinnect. Then i noticed the small disclaimer at the bottom, "Depictions are visionary"
  6. "Retopology Helper" (just add your own topology!)
  7. The Null Shader removes all lighting from an object but won't put a hole in the alpha behind it.
  8. I think what you want is called a "Matte Object" in some circles. In my notes and annotations on Jeremy Birn's "Digital Lighting and Rendering" I give a work-around in A:M for such an effect: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?s=&am...st&p=323268 This will need two passes and a compositing program that will allow you to work with alpha channels. Rendering to PNG may be usable but I prefer Targas since their alpha channel is more standard.
  9. If you need this object to literally create an alpha channel hole like the camera background is... no, A:M doesn't have an object setting like that. A second pass to create an image that could be used and composited with another alpha channel would be a likely solution.
  10. Has a brief test run been done yet with perhaps three people?
  11. An object set to be the same as the background color and set to 100% ambiance would appear the same as an object that showed the background color through it. No?
  12. So the object itself is basically a silhouette moving across the scene and inside it shows only... the background color?
  13. I didn't catch the animations you posted. I like the reveal of the wings! I think the blue boxes have to do with how many posts you've made.
  14. Of course, your drivers are actually up to date, right?
  15. Could you post the specifics of what you had to change in a thread here? i know another user who was stuck on that.
  16. thanks for the tips! How about a special deal... $79 for one year? Welcome back! I think i just saw your birthday on the bottom of the forum a few days ago and thought," haven't seen that name in a long time."
  17. Was there actually a picture posted with numbers? i dont' see one.
  18. You can get the tech ref free as a pdf on line: ftp://ftp.hash.com/pub/docs/ It is mostly accurate, it lacks coverage of a few newer features. Ask on the forum if you get stuck.
  19. If you're starting to animate I recommend you watch my "Keyframing Basics" video, found in my signature link.
  20. The window won't be necessary for any one doing their shot. Only in the opening sequence will such a thing be needed.
  21. The "It just crashes all the time" crashes suggest a video card driver problem.
