Love the firey dark sky contrasting the flame in the foreground. I don't know what those objects in the sky are but they don't seem threatening (or helping).
Good mood setting.
LOL Great work!
After viewing the clip few times I find myself wanting to add a little squish to the character as the doctor presses down on him.
Just a suggestion.
Keep up the good work!
Take a look at Johnny-5 from the 1986 movie "Short Circuit" - it might inspire you to tackle the eye lid problem. Johny-5's eye lids were also his eye brows, so there was no shortage of showing emotions.

I attended a couple of CG animation classes at the San Jose City College (3DS Max & Infini-D). I wish they'd offer A:M classes (evenings or weekends), I'd definitely be there.
Looks pretty good.
If you're trying to achieve realistic behavior, the jet acts more like a model, it lacks 'weight'. This is evident in the abrupt manuvering when it swoops to land, however, as the landing gears touch down you succeeded in adding 'follow thru' which indicates 'weight' to the whole machine.
I did a similar project a few years ago using Infini-D (which is no more) where it had the cool ability to reflect smoke emiters upwards once it touched the ground. I wonder if A:M has a similar feature?
I followed the tutes in http://www.colins-loft.net/CoopPreview.html. Although it's for a human eye, the principles, I think, are the same.
Good job on this challenging project.
It didn't even occur to me. Thank you for the suggestion, I'll play with that over the weekend. I did, however, make the pupil and the iris 80% reflective, but that was too much, I'll play with that as well.
