Maya would be the program of choice at Pixar. Animation Master is the program of choice of independant animators and amatures. My advice is to go ahead and keep with Animation Master along with whatever it is they'll teach you in college. You'll have an advantage of knowing more than one program, plus the fact that you'll be able to do your own independant work out of class which will definitely enhance your animation skills.
Knowledge = Power.
Refer back to the magnifying lense video, it shows how to make the surface transparent (I believe he used 95% Transeparency) and you can give it some Reflectivity. You find all these in the Project Work Space under your model's properties (the little triangle next to your model's name that opens a whole drop down menu).
Very nice indeed. Great improvement.
Adding to Jim's critique, watch the arcs of the legs' movements. To simulate heaviness the leg should accelerate to the ground as it reaches it. Also have some follow through movement after the foot hits the ground (like a quick dip of the body where the foot hits the ground). And a small anticipation before the hind leg lifts off. It's the small details that make your model look real. Revisit Robcat's critiques in TWO to further improve the movement of this most excellent model.
I guess I could live without the hind toe control.
Now as for the commercial use restriction; my intention is to enter animation festivals and contests which may or may not involve monetary reward. Would you consider that to be commercial use? I need clarification.
Way to go Satyajit and congratulations on crossing the hurdle. I bet you're excited.
In shots 101, 103 and 106, the characters tend to block the view of the other. That's about all that I see that needs improvement.
You didn't have to change it just because I said they looked like flipflops. Well, now they look like open toe sandals Are you gonna change that too? You're too funny.
Great modeling though. I'd like to see this thing animated.
I'm not sure what it means when my computer asks me to run ActiveX whether it's playing QT or Flash, but it plays very well. The picture is sharp and the sound is crisp. Well done.
At first glance of the title I thought it's gonna be about the school fire tragedy in Ryadh, Saudi Arabia!
Job well done Jimmy. A theme shared by many major religions and you portray it in a very unique style. I liked it alot. I hope you continue with your "enlightenment".
This is really a great character. That run is so...3dartzy Which is to say it's excellent.
The only critique I have is about the jump. I think he should throw his arms straight up rather than put them to his sides just as he jumps, to enhance the jumping action.
