  1. i like the style! it'll be a challenge to make his eyes readable, due to his vertically squashed head, but expressive animation will compensate. keep us posted! -jon
  2. that's completely pointless, and totally awesome. in short, a first-rate art project. -jon
  3. are all of your normals outward-facing? that doesn't look like the standard normals glitch, but it's worth a quick check. -jon
  4. do you really need the markings on the horizontal surfaces? if the image only resolves at a distance, you can save yourself a good deal of work by only marking the forward-facing area of the steps. it is a cool idea. ' ' ) -jon
  5. ... then there's that third option: annoying martin. ' ' ) -jon
  6. either there's been a very specific server error or you've violated one or more of the forum's guidelines. i'm guessing it's the second one. ' ' ) -jon
  7. i'm happy to talk about ethics all day, but free legal counsel is usually worth every penny. -jon
  8. darn... i thought this was another os war thread. ' ' ( yep, the same cd will work with both machines. ... i think. -jon

    uh

works fine for me. have you tried lately? -jon
  10. you've got way too many vertical splines for what you're trying to do. the fewer control points, the smoother the surface. it's also pretty hard to see whats happening there on the brow, since the eyebrow is in the way. are those all four-point patches in that area? -jon
  11. face forward = asian. ' ' ) that's not necessarily a bad thing. how realistic are you working for? my first impression is that you could loose half of those splines, and perhaps his eyes are too close together. overall, a great wip! -jon
  12. when we give hash, inc. our money, we're not buying a cd... we're buying a license to use the product. the fact that your friend is still using his license means it wasn't even implicitly transferred... so you never had the legal right to use it. that being said, the only folks who have opinions that matter work for hash, inc. -jon
  13. i can't think of anything here that's 'wrong'. she looks great! -jon
  14. looks pretty good! the upper pecs ('man-boobies' for some) seem too planar, but it could work stylistically... if that aspect was mirrored in other ways throughout the model. i like the art-deco feel. -jon
  15. how are you containing the plasma... with a magnetic field, i hope. -jon
  16. so you spent a whole day, and aren't totally happy with the results? ' ' ) my contribution to the cause was this lovely pair. http://www.hash.com/stills/displayimage.php?pos=-991 they can be found in the first a:m extras disc... not sure how you get one. they represent about 8 years of working with the program, and i'm not quite happy with 'em either. -jon
  17. her torso seems more meaty than her lower body, and i'd speculate that you've spent more time on her upper half. flesh her out below the belt and you can work on giving the poor thing a head! -jon ps: vagina.
  18. the male character looks evil mostly due to the v-shaped brows. i wouldn't worry about the boondocks similarities. that show has a very anime feel that your models do not. great work! -jon
  19. so the short answer is forget poser meshes and start splining, right? ' ' ) -jon
  20. jigglestereo doesn't depend on funky 50's technology. there's always freeviewing or lenticular stereography. ...they're just not as jiggly. -jon
  21. jon

    100% monkey-free!

  22. i love your models!

  23. rav, a teardrop is a deformed sphere. in this context, they would form at the end of the slobber trails. that's all. the mouth still has sharp edges, which run counter to the sleek, organic look of the creature. i can't find a good collection of geiger's work, but you should take a look at his art. he's the designer of the original 'alien' creature. -jon
  24. i love the toon lines, but you could always try a 2 or 3 color toon shader for a more smoother look. -jon
  25. taper: the tail seems too thick towards the end. lighting: the critters were usually seen in low light. slobber: for stills, shiny transparent strands and teardrops should do. -jon
