  1. no problem... i need to get good karma however i can. ' ' ) -jon
  2. if you're still having this problem, what kind of notebook is it? which version of a:m are you using? -jon
  3. you never indicated that you installed the latest video driver. another idea: a:m loves targas -- .tga files. you're image prolly isn't in that format, so try that too.... after the video driver update. with me, you'll just have to settle with helpful. -jon
  4. update your video driver. if you have the latest update, then yes... your laptop sucks. -jon
  5. isn't anyone else concerned that david thinks colin's son looks like an alien? -jon
  6. i can't judge how 'bad' my modeling is, but i like the overall appearance of my figures with porcelain applied to the main 'skin' group. i particularly like the smoothing effect on their faces, but i don't apply the porcelain material to detailed areas like lips. try it, you might like it. ' ' ) -jon
  7. here are two things that help me: 1 remove any spline you don't desperately need. less splines = less lumps 2 the porcelain material is your friend, especially if you're scared of bias handles. -jon
  8. have you tried the 'make dragon' button? -jon
  9. creating known characters is a great way to learn modeling, but you've got your own characters and stories in there somewhere... keep looking. -jon
  10. jon

    3d max model

the larger issue is not how, but why? there is no good answer to this second question. let go of the triangles, and learn to model the a:m way. -jon
  11. a good spokesmodel model, but shouldn't she be more orange? ' ' ) -jon
  12. she looks like an 80's b-movie queen. that's not a bad thing. ' ' ) looking good overall, but her shoulders need more volume. i'd start by lowering her armpits a bit. otherwise, all she needs is a whip! -jon
  13. the useful, constructive part was the first point: everything you need is on the cd. libraries are just bookmarks, and aren't even necessary. your lack of manners and misplaced sense of entitlement was my second point. i helped you before i insulted you, so that makes it okay. -jon ps: the only people i haven't insulted are the ones i haven't talked to. it's part of my charm.
  14. two things... 1. you don't need libraries set up to get to work. just open the files from the cd. 2. you're bitching to unpaid volunteers who're helping you with a program you don't own. -jon
  15. a great look! i'd thicken the arms a bit, just so they're more visible. it depends on the background complexity, animation style, etc. i don't see boondocks here, except for the fact that he's dark skinned. -jon
  16. update yer website!

  17. symmetry is a crucial aspect of beauty, so other symmetries (radial, helical, whatever) are very risky. diversion from symmetry altogether is the hallmark of our darkest nightmare creatures. let's not go there. -jon
  18. better, perhaps... but less alien. i think we can live with the compromise. ' ' ) -jon
  19. i love the lips and feet! it'll be interesting to see her move! -jon
  20. thanks gents! -jon
  21. i'm trying to learn the v13s.... 1. can you scale a bone along with it's cp's when modeling? 2. how do i numerically and absolutely change the position of a cp when modeling? i thought there was a little triangle that would call up a box with the xyz coords, but i can't find that anymo. everyone old is new again.... -jon
  22. you've done a great job! in comparison to the photos: your model's face needs a fuller lower face and jaw, as seen from angles other than the front. i can't quite pin in down, but i see the biggest difference in your highly defined rear jaw bone, and the photos smoother, unseen jawbone. sorry i can't be more detailed in my unsolicited nag. ' ' ) -jon
  23. tvs and other displays pretty much always cast their images on their surface, so there's no refraction to speak of. why don't just just curve the surface of the display area? if you really want to use refraction, then you'll need a transparent surface with the refraction setting -- the 'lens' -- with the display contents behind it. -jon
  24. do you have a profile and/or 3/4 shot of this woman? it's going to be difficult to be very accurate without a second rotoscope. -jon
  25. i like the style! it'll be a challenge to make his eyes readable, due to his vertically squashed head, but expressive animation will compensate. keep us posted! -jon
