  1. the contributors retain full rights to their works, but have granted unrestricted use of their works, except where they've limited the use of their works in the file's notes section. so, you could pay anyone to do anything you want to those unrestricted contributions, but you'd have to negotiate with the creator for additional rights for those limited-rights creations. is that lawyer enough for ya? 2. there were only two alien movies: alien and aliens.... the others were just cruel hoaxes. your queen's body seems great, but that tail should be more tapered towards the end. your biggest challenge lies ahead: in the films, the lighting (or lack thereof) greatly contributed to the menace of the creatures. and, of course, lots of slobber. -jon
  3. wolfram: fair enough... it would be helpful to make the distinctions easier to see. ... and don't be offended. i'm mean to everyone. ' ' ) -jon
  4. mr wok, i suspect that when the time comes to produce your first commercial work, it will be uniquely your own, inspired in part by -- but not taken from -- community contributions. so, no worries. -jon
  5. you might just have to start one! otherwise, you ask nicely. ' ' ) -jon
  6. stereoscopy will one day rule the world!

  7. you've been making great progress! i'll cast another vote for wider upper torso. the hips are wider than average, but i'm kinda liking 'em anyway. so many comic artists have abused the popular comic characters to the point where there is no 'one' authoritative look for them.... so go with the flow! -jon
  8. i like the new model... there's a lot more detail now! the profile has too many straight (or near straight) lines, however, that give her a boxy feel. unless that's what you're going for, they need some tweaking. nevertheless... much better! -jon
  9. i am an alien expert, having watched the first two movies 'till my eyes bled. ' ' ) the worker/drone featured prominently in the first two movies were tall, skinny guys in costume, so you might consider making the lower body more structurally human. i like all the varieties you've developed! -jon
  10. thanks for the love, trace. ' ' ) i'll be using sophie with ha:mr in the near future, so i sure hope she plays well in later versions. -jon
  11. thanks for you comments! if you look carefully at the final image, she really does have knees.. her right rear knee is partially visible directly above her foot. [edit] for her forelegs, technically she's missing the mid-foot articulation that i gave to her rear legs.. but i might lengthen her forepaws a bit and add it... one day. in the standing pose, her knees not visible at all, just like the chibi rei images you've uploaded. chibi was the goal, but i'm happy with the results, even if they were only about half way to chibidom. thanks again! -jon
  12. the motion blur doesn't work for me, but it's an all around great piece! -jon
  13. i'll haven't started the bird of prey, but i'll certainly have it completed by the end of the year, hopefully much sooner. you've made great progress! -jon
  14. my first impression is you've created "internal patches", which happens when you extrude a surface and create a legal four-point patch "inside" your model. if that's the case, you can make them all one continuous spline, or not link them in a loop, and the problem will vanish. a hollow wireframe shot would help with the diagnosis. -jon
  15. as promised in a recent rant, here's sophie, in version 12 format. if you have any trouble figuring out my simple rig, feel free to gripe. ' ' ) -jon Sophie_v12.zip
  16. that helped a great deal... thanks! a little less v12 noob now... ' ' ) -jon
  17. whatever the source, the model will need some serious work before it will perform well in a:m. this isn't a limitation of the program, it's like you're bringing your favorite kenny g mp3s to our rave. might be good music, but it just won't fly here. -jon
  18. i want to scale a bone precisely (not using the mouse) and also scale related cps and child bones. i expect to do this in the transform/translate area of the property window, but the entire transform section is grayed out, and i can't change the values. what's going on? did this method go away sometime since version 8... am i not seeing the new way to do this... or am i experiencing some kind of bug caused by my version 8 model. answers to anticipated questions: tried in versions 12v+ and 12w the model has been imported a few times scaling by mouse does work, but i want precision she's naked now, but clothes are next thanks! -jon everything old is new again, except me.
  19. whatever his workflow, the four-triangle-square method of construction tells me that this was imported from the original game model after folks started asking for the wireframe. with a little practice, i'm sure case could create a much better version, but importing a poly model isn't going to do a thing to build mad splinin' skills. -jon
  20. you've discovered the secret to animation: master modeling: triangles! dood, it's a poly port and u r l4m3. use the program and your imagination, and create real art. -jon
  21. you've done a great mod job here! of course, i have a few suggestions... ' ' ) 1) the blue is too dark for my taste. i'd lighten it up a bit, and prolly desaturate it some as well. the model screams "photoreal", but the blue just takes me out of the illusion. 2) you've narrowed the head, but i don't see a corresponding change is supe's neck. his head looks squarish overall -- much more like captain marvel -- which adds to my overall impression that his head is just sitting on his shoulders. gripes aside, this fellow is a great amalgam of the impossibly proportioned animated versions of the big blue banana and his movie counterparts. -jon
  22. so, after two weeks... is it time to call crap yet? -jon
  23. i'm not certain of the ultimate value of all these derivative works, but if the super hero bug ever bit me, i'd prolly create rorschach or maybe even sedusa were i feeling villainous. as for supergirl here... it's a great start! my only nags: her legs seem unusually long in proportion to the rest of her body, and i sure hope she has some red undies to go with that miniskirt! keep on splinin'! -jon
  24. congrats! you know what they say after all.. the devil's in the details! ' ' ) -jon
  25. aside from all of the unnatural attention to his butt, i would mass him up a bit. he also looks a little swaybacked... that is, the equine spine bows down in the middle. it all really depends on how realistic you want the model to be, and ultimately... whatever looks good to you. -jon
