    Mechanical model

    Here is a new update:
  2. Thanks! It looks very clean. Kudos

    Mechanical model

Thanks guys. Its not going to be an exciting model, a pretty boring one actually. Tralfaz did get the color right though:)
  4. Thanks guys! The reflection is achieved by a pure white HDR image. A trick I learned from the Bradbury brothers The image is rendered with 16 multipasses. DOF is really hard to work with on macro images like this, because I found out that DOF doesn't work when the focus is closer than 50cm to the camera. You are right about the shininess, I hope to find some time to add some scratches Yeah you might be right. I used a photo I found on the net as ref. I did only find one, so I wasn't able to double check It is 15 balls with to different materials (the color is adjusted on the models itself), one material for the solid balls and one gradient material for the striped ones. I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for the tip. All the balls are the same size
  5. Great start! Smooth modeling! Can you share a wireframe?

    Mechanical model

Hi guys I've just started modeling a new model. I want you guys try to guess what it's going to be, while more and more gets revealed along with the progress. So far I've just modeled the belts, but more to come. The mesh is insanely dens though, but that is due to various bevels and holes. Let me know what you think so far
  7. Ok, so I found some sparetime. Here is a small update. I've fixed the 9 ball and redone all the colors. The colors are based on a set of billiardballs I found with the help of all mighty google. They are now less saturated
  8. Yeah, you are right. There's been a glitch. I'll update it when I get back from work today. I'll also see if I can change the colors to be not so saturated
  9. Thanks guys for your kind words and great suggestions Not yet. I'm awaiting a new and better raw video footage to work from
  10. Hi guys. I just want to share a small project I just did. Its nothing fancy, just a few billiard balls (which I suspect is the most cliché thing to make in 3d? ). Anyway, I hope you like it anyway Best regards Stian

    Beechcrash

Thank you all for the great comments and crits. I agree to them all. Anyone have any good ideas how to make believable particles/dirt that is thrown in the air when the plane hits the ground? What I want to do and probably will, is to make a new footage with a better camera and redo most of it

    Beechcrash

Hi all! Happy new year! I've the last couple of weeks been playing with the beechcraft and a video footage from where I grew up as a child (I did the footage this Christmas with my cellphone). There is several things I would like to do different. Due to the footage I cant have the speed I want on the plane, and the landing is a little to short. Anyway, let me know what you think. Also, I don't like the smoke on the end, but I'm not sure how to make it better. Oh, and there is probably some scale issues too? I struggled to make the ground a lot more dirty, but this was the best I managed to do. Syntheyes is used for tracking. I might do some more work on it, but not right now The animation: beechcrash.mov A screengrab:
  13. Nice models indeed! and great resemblance. I am very impressed of how low patched they are. Great job!
  14. Awesome model and render!
  15. The image is uploaded to CGTalk. If you leave a comment there I will be very glad!
  16. Thank you so much for your kind words! I started working with 3D and A:M three years ago I never thought of it that way. I've only had photo ref for the wire. You are probably right though I'm not sure what you mean. I couldn't find any missing patches on the model. Could it be reflections you see? I tend to sharpen my renders i PS (something I personally prefer), do you think that caused some of it?
  17. Thank you Rodney. Here is a new render. I've, as you suggested, tried to lighten up the underside of the aircraft. I've also tweaked some of the shaders a little and also added soot behind the exchaust pipes (the soot didn't get that noticeable though..)
  18. Thanks guys! Most likely not. I haven't desided yet though Thanks for the tip! I have Investigated a few ref photos, and some of them got exhaust residue, so that is next on my to do list Here is a new render setup. Still tweaking on it, but I thought I should share what I got so far. Let me know
  19. Thanks guys. Here is a new render. I've added a few details (and wheel suspension). Let me know what you think
  20. Here is a new update. Missing the wheel suspension and a few details here and there. What do you think?
  21. Thank you so much guys! The first render and second render does actually have the same render setup applied. The only difference is that the first is rendered in v13 and the second in v14 Regarding the tracking, I haven't decided if I'm going to use PFHoe or Syntheyes yet, it depends on the outcome of the tracking
  22. Thanks guys. I hope to be able to use particles and stuff, but I'll save that till the end. First I need to get the model ready, then the tracking and stuff. Anyway, here is a new update.. What do you think?
  23. When you hit [Render to file], just use the drop down menu to select what format you want to render to. Hope this helps
  24. That is a trick I learned from DanCBradbury using a white HDR image on a plane that is above the model
  25. Hi I've just started a new project. Its a model of the Beechcraft Super King Air 200. I'm still early in the modeling process. My plan for this model is to make it crash (hopefully in a live action test). Even though its not much to see yet, let me know what you think *UPDATE* added latest render:
