  1. That's good! I think the pacing will be good with all entries at different lengths...longer-shorter... I also like the horizontal framesize as it allows nice L to R travel. ONE THING to keep in mind, this is UNLIKE the 11 second club where a rough draft quickie render could steal the show... please 'dress-up' your contributions...throw in a set... make an effort at lighting...etc REMEMBER- folks from those 'other' 3D apps will be looking at this with a discerning eye- make yourself PROUD!

The 'Pass the Ball' was not a competition, it was a short movie made by the Hash forum in 2006. The criteria was simple... have a ball, or similar object- enter from frame LEFT, have your character(s) interact with it for a few seconds, and have it exit frame RIGHT. Will Sutton then cut the entries together with some music and came-up with this: PASS THE BALL http://www.hash.com/amfilms/search/entry.php?entry=1080 I have volunteered to collect and compile the clips (Unless someone else really wants to.). We have a musician who has volunteered music... at this point we are having a healthy/positive conversation about the simple rules... those being: THE RULES: -participants will make a unique cartoon/movie with the ball entering screen-left(your left) interacting in the screen (whatever you want) and exiting screen right. -participants can enter as many as they want. -movie parameters: 864W X 486H @ 30 frames-per-second (3 second minimum/9 maximum)... we will place this on Youtube HD. The final copy will also be made available at D1 letterboxed resolution for those wishing to burn a DVD. - A 'ball' will be made available as a common file. However, those wishing to use their OWN model as the 'ball' can do so. -Movie files will be sent via electronic delivery by JUNE 1, 2009. ( to a yet undetermined address) If these rules sound 'jiggy' with everyone...away we go! ________________________________________________________________________________ PS--- I was hoping someone step-forward and contribute a BALL, for those who want to standardize. If not...I'll contribute my stylized Baseball from the title of the last 'PTB'...

  7. Should be said...that's a beautiful bike MC! Maybe if you Google for an image that shows 'what you are going for' we can give better advice. Sometimes rubber is brushed down with oil to make it look more shiney...sometimes it is 'road weary' with dirt and smudges. Help us to help you, Bro!

  9. SHOULD we all use the same ball model...or different variations like last time. Mind you...if we use the same ball, and someone wants to do a SOCCER theme animation...that ball will not necessarily have a 'soccer' feel to it. ALSO- Should we ask for a minimum/maximum time length...say minimum of 4 seconds and a maximum of 9 seconds....?

  11. That's what I was thinking... Youtube widescreen. If we master at 864X486 it will look good (and should be the same aspect ratio) on Youtube widescreen. LET THE DISCUSSION CONTINUE!

  13. Yeah...GOOD IDEA Spleenster! I would think *any* style would be welcomed...we all want to look very diverse from one another as opposed to all looking the same.
  14. Wow! Turnout! That looks like 7 more... up to 11 now. Matt Stanford/Gizmo... rubbish is 'in' for this. Come-up with an original idea... don't be too ambitious, get it done by deadline and make a good showing! (Deadline yet to be determined) Largento/Luuk/Robcat--- I think we should leave it a ball...but I like the idea of using the SAME ball in all animations-for 'continuity' sake. Maybe a RED BALL with a white zig-zag stripe thru it. The parameters would be--- NTSC D1 WIDESCREEN SQUARE PIXEL or 864X486 @ 29.97(or 30) frames per second. Sound effects optional. Any objections? SPREAD THE WORD! Nobody misses out this time! Multiple-entries welcomed!

  16. This is fascinating William- If I may ask--- the image in the center above (the skull)... the creases in the cheekbones...were they modeled in A:M with splines, or cut away from the foam with a dremel tool...?
  17. WOWZEE! It's hard to tell what scale those pix are, but they look GREAT! Is there a lot of prep-work and techniques in A:M (You keep mentioning the word 'bevel') Is there another 3D app involved? I'd like to see the machine that cuts the foam...is it laser? SO many questions!!!
  18. I'd say that 'for a test' you get a BIG 'thumbs-up' from the Bigboote side of town! Nancy, your 3D work is SO original- there aint NOBODY that has the look you have! And it sure shines in TWO on Youtube!

I'd like to see a little more anticipation to the word 'your' when he says "your gonna stay here..." perhaps his lips purse, like the 'W' phoneme, before he says 'your'...in anticipation. THANKS for trusting US with your CnC's... I know you can get CnC's from the 11sec crowd... but we'll steer you straight! Can't wait to see more progress!
  20. TSM2 works well still in V15.0E...I would imagine it works fine in V14. I like your idea of modeling the arms 'down' like that, and I'm going to copy you on my next full body character.
