Looking good... good rough-ins. I have to say I am more than a little dissapointed with the 11-second clubs recent picks for audio files. WHAT the heck is the dialogue here...and am I supposed to know what movie this is from? Their references are getting more and more inaudible, obscure, and uninspired. Last months was just a couple of 'bounce' sound-effects. Maybe they are finally getting too many submissions and need to discourage more of us from participating. Alas, perhaps it is just me, as I turn the corner from 'young-whipper-snapper' to 'curmudgeon'...

SAVE. Close A:M. REopen A:M. Open project. This routine sometimes helps to 'jog' things...

Those are 'pearls of wisdom'... I am printing it out and putting it in my book.

SILLY! That is quite original and FUNNY!

See--- the GENIUS behind a clip like that is that it is derived from actual HUMAN motions... and actual human motions are VERY difficult to emulate/animate. They are HIGHLY believable, but since you and I 'fish' for random actions in free BVH format, it's hard to try to 'dream-up' a story that goes along with the 'free' action you have received. This is the next hurdle we need to jump. IMAGINE if you could generate your own actions... and of course, since you are an ANIMATOR you would hold the power of enhancing a mocap file so that the jump is a little higher...the extreme is a little more- extreme...the 'bing' is a little more BANG etc. I'm a big believer in this BVH thing... you just have to know that it is only a PART of the equation, not the answer.

Yeah- typically a single CP will not rotate, there needs to be 2 or more. I looked, but I don't have that book either. It is not a bone that you are to rotate?

Hey Paul- COOL STUFF! Are you remembering to set the 'Reduction Tolerance Error' setting to zero before you run the SSS (Simulate Spring Systems) -Choreography property window -Dynamics tab -change Reduction Tolerance Error from 0.1 to zero. It's been said to make a difference, though I don't notice it too much.

Wowzers! If you get chance, it would be interesting for us to see a photo of the church to see how far you are going with this. It's a beautiful building AND model, for sure. When you copy-and-pasted the towers, did you think 'i bet they wish they had copy/paste-ability when they built this!'

My brother is an ex General Motors designer here in Detroit (will the last designer in Michigan please shut-off the lights?) he says this 'Pro Engineer' has become an overnight standard in the last 3 years in the design industry. Who makes it, and what makes it better than the other softwares?

John Bigboote's Pass The Ball movies
John Bigboote replied to John Bigboote's topic in Pass The Ball!
Most have been coming to me at around 5 to 7 megabytes... I would try to keep it under 15mb. The Quicktime H234(or something like that) set at 'best' should do the trick, providing your animation is not 20 seconds or more in length... -
It might help if you sketch a doodle of what you see in your minds-eye. I could'nt understand your description.

John Bigboote's Pass The Ball movies
John Bigboote replied to John Bigboote's topic in Pass The Ball!
Thanks for mentioning the deadline, Largento! I BELIEVE we were 'shooting' for a June 1st deadline... so far I have but a handful of entries, and most of them are MINE! I'm hoping most folks have theirs done but are still tweeking and awaiting the immortal 'last moment'...send those movies TO mcampbell at gwstudio dot com HERE's the low-down again from the pinned post: ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ WHAT IS IT? The 'Pass the Ball' was not a competition, it was a short movie made by the Hash forum in 2006. The criteria was simple... have a ball, or similar object- enter from frame LEFT, have your character(s) interact with it for a few seconds, and have it exit frame RIGHT. Will Sutton then cut the entries together with some music and came-up with this: PASS THE BALL http://www.hash.com/amfilms/search/entry.php?entry=1080 I have volunteered to collect and compile the clips (Unless someone else really wants to.). We have a musician who has volunteered music... at this point we are having a healthy/positive conversation about the simple rules... those being: THE RULES: -participants will make a unique cartoon/movie with the ball entering screen-left(your left) interacting in the screen (whatever you want) and exiting screen right. -participants can enter as many as they want. -movie parameters: 864W X 486H @ 30 frames-per-second (3 second minimum/9 maximum)... we will place this on Youtube HD. The final copy will also be made available at D1 letterboxed resolution for those wishing to burn a DVD. - A 'ball' will be made available as a common file. However, those wishing to use their OWN model as the 'ball' can do so. -Movie files will be sent via electronic delivery by JUNE 1, 2009. TO mcampbell at gwstudio dot com If these rules sound 'jiggy' with everyone...away we go! ________________________________________________________________________________ -
-In sprite animations, only an image or image sequence can be used to emit. 'Flockings' may be what your thinking of... -Shift 8 is the keyboard shortcut to turn particles/hair off and on in the workspace. -This forum allows only Quicktime movies be posted. -SOUNDS LIKE you have made a material and are trying to drag it into the choreography. You need to drag it into a model and assign it to a group, then drag THAT into the choreography.

John Bigboote's Pass The Ball movies
John Bigboote replied to John Bigboote's topic in Pass The Ball!
Thanks Nancy! The baseball movie is sort of autobiographical about my last day in baseball. I was on a minor-minor-minor(AAA) league team and was called upon to bunt in what is known as a 'suicide-squeeze'. -

THIS ONE- has a baseball theme. It is rather simple in it's action. MC_PTB_BB_small.mov -
Hey Spliners! I HOPE people are still considering making a 'PASS THE BALL' movie for this years movie. I finally got off me 'duff and made one or two (3 actually) this week... and, hopefully to inspire folks...I'll post them here! THIS ONE is to be the main title, and will serve to 'get the ball rolling' as it were... MC_PTB_Title_small.mov

those are some PERVERSE proportions! I love it! THIS is what I was trying to do several years ago with my CRIMEBOMB character, but I did not have the 'nuance muscular detailing ability' that you have... you obviously referred to some reference and have done your anatomy homework...keep it up! (Glad to see in the 2nd images that he lost the 'camel-toe')

THE CHICKEN DANCE!

Yes! Looking good! At the beginning, he is in a 'thinker' pose...it would be fun to see him in the 'Frankenstien' pose...meaning arms out, goose-stepping like a zombie... can't wait to see how you wrap it up!

Anti-aliasing(correct term?) in rendering possible
John Bigboote replied to Path other's topic in New Users
Really? I would have thought it would be much lower, like 4multipasses or 2.... you can see in the render dialogue with MP off as it says "antialiasing pass 1, antialiasing pass 2"... For quick video stuff, I've found that there is not too much discernable difference after 3 passes. Especially if you are using 'fields', which automatically doubles your render time. -
Wow...what a bunch of helpful, patient fellows! When you get your project 'trimmed', CodeD- you can also benefit from rendering on a 2nd instance of A:M...this trick cuts your render time in HALF!

That's GLORIOUS! Very original...very captivating... DO ANOTHER!!!
