  1. SWEET! You are using my fisheye lens! I love it!
  2. Mighty cool. On one of my recent models I applied a 'wrinkle' displacement map to the knee, crotch, belly and areas where clothes will 'bunch-up' when the joint is flexed. I set the displace value at 0% and made a smartskin for each bone so that as the joint closes to a lesser angle the displacement value increases- automatic wrinkles!
  3. A:M has a lot of strengths in the motion graphics department... like anything else, it's all 'practice and experience'. I recently cut a reel of some of my A:M 'flying logo' stuff, to show you where I am at: http://www.youtube.com/user/campydoodles#p...B/2/Cxo8WzhWQTU
  4. After our hockey game last night- two of my beer-drinking teammates got into an arguement/bet over who could skate faster...so they laced up and raced to settle the bet. It reminded me that I had made a scoreboard animation for Belle Tire that shows on the Grand Rapids Griffons scoreboard between periods. Some Hasher's may have already seen this: http://www.campbellanimation.com/MC_mov07_BTpuckrace.mov Yes- that's TOM and his family in the stands. I had an assistant last summer and assigned him with that animation...and then I showed him how to rubber-stamp it into a crowd...
  5. I am now uploading my Hash Basketball (see image) into the contributors cue for one and all. You might notice it is unconventionally made... I would probably go about this totally different (procedural textures) today...but dang if it does not look good. You can alter the maps in Photoshop to put a logo on it.
  6. That's 'one small step for A:M- one giant leap for A:Mkind'...
  7. Hi Gikefod! WELCOME! Good choice using A:M for scoreboard/sports graphics. I do work for the Detroit Red Wings scoreboard and A:M suits me and the work to a 'T'. I am sure you are going thru the learning process, and we'll all be happy to help if you have questions. I'll bet one of your first models will be a BASKETBALL...and I happen to already have one in my library all textured for close examination. If you are interested, I'll post it to the 'Contributors Cue' forum.
  8. Looks comfy...but I don't wanna sit in it. I can't tell the wheels are 'off'...good eye!
  9. Cool...that MJL is awesome! Spurred quite the diatribe from daifan...but I got a feeling we might never hear from HIM again, spammer! Love the title!
  10. HEY! Good looking smooth models there! I usually just use patch images for an even skin-tone and just apply regular decals for blush- red nose- etc.
  11. Lookin good! When will you put the #53 on the doors?
  12. HOW did I miss that? Thanks Nancy. I sure am getting old!
  13. I'm looking for Rodgers 'bolts and nuts' model in the contributors cue/models forum...can't find it! And I know I dl'd it...can't find it locally either! Where can I get these nuts and bolts? EDIT: Found it locally...was called 'connector hardware'... but I could not see it on the CC... -Thanks again Rodger!
  14. Looking good! My uncle would look at a car like that and say 'What are all those scratch-marks? Must be from girls trying to get in..."
  15. and what great modeling to inspect. Rodger... you must have quite the A:M train thing going on by now... do you do model trains (basement style) as well? Have you seen the 'Union Station' in Union Lake, Michigan? This guy retired and bought an old store and built a MASSIVE HO scale model railroad with over 100 trains on the track...at least 25 running at a time... multiple sculpted artistic settings.
  16. THAT sounds interesting... where can I learn more about material effectors?
  17. Sounds like you need to make a duplicate model- ONE with material A- one B. ONE has a positive boolean-the other negative.
  18. No- I don't think Ambient Occlusion will bake. For velvet skintones, I like to use the 'PLUSH' Darksim shader- found in the 'miscellaneous' folder. You will need to dink with the colors and settings- but it gives you a nice 'rimlit' look to your objects as well as a velvety soft texture.
  19. This is advice that I am breaking myself...so do as I say- not as I do: IF you are using A:M(in this day and age) for paying work... you should invest in the disc version so you won't get 'cut-off' from your fantastic 3D app mid-job because your sub expired and no one answers the phone at Hash, Inc. ( it would be great if the subscription process was automated so there was no 'human element' involved...but I guess that would lower the employee count from 1 to zero...BAD idea.)
  20. You can always see what Jason is up to by looking at his Facebook entries on the Hash homepage (hashdotcom) I think I read yesterday that he is 'snowed in' at a sales show in Denver CO.
  21. Yeah! That's looking good! A trick to remember.(The bloom, that is.)
  22. HA! I Like Pepito!
  23. Actually, my comment wont show up for some reason. I think the Youtube bot won't allow me to steer folks to hash.com or even hashdotcom. All the comments are about 'What kind of program can I use to make movies like this?" We need to move on this.
  24. Sweet. After reading the comments and seeing the view counter (68,000) it is apparent that many people out there DO want to learn animation. In the comments, they are being referred to Blender... I posted a comment like this: Very cool! There is also another inexpensive, powerful and easy to use program called Animation:Master. You can learn more at hash dot com or click on my name to see my Youtube channel with plenty of samples made with Animation:Master... OR do a search here for animation master. If a few more people chime in on A:M's behalf we might sell a couple of units to help with the airfare back from Africa!
  25. Your lucky I had a free morning. I will upload the project file and assets (In the Contributors Cue forum) that I just used to make THIS movie: I hope you find it useful. snow.mov
