  4. alternatives could also be http://johnl.inform.net/pages/roto1.htm http://johnl.inform.net/pages/10material16.htm probably better than this http://johnl.inform.net/pages/9particle3.htm
  5. don't have any time to play right now so here is the project. just remember with gradients you have to adjust them for the model and in this case scale the turbulence too as well as "animating" then in the chor or by an action or even a pose would work if anyone gets a better effect with this please share johnl3d...the tinkering gnome newcloud.zip
  6. While driving on vacation last week I noticed a lot of clouds unfortunately some of them attempted to wash my car. Anyway I got this idea for a new cloud material from watching them. Here it is applied to a flat plane for now with a little animation added to the turb on the gradients. Will have to try it on a "cloud" model also. this is the first render test johnl3d...note North Dakota has a lot of clouds newcloud.mov
  7. try the sprite materials on cd or play with this http://johnl.inform.net/pages/10material12.htm or this http://johnl.inform.net/pages/10material11.htm if I find some more old ones not directly linked I post later but sprites are the way to go look around here http://johnl.inform.net/
  8. looks a little different than Puff but in a good way
  9. thought it was funny liked the character and actions but not sure if I voted for it..my ancient brain retains very little. johnl3d
  10. thanks for the suggestion I guess I'll have to think about it a bit more... have some ideas and maybe some enhancements to the models. If anyone else wants to play with them I'll post the project file tinkering robots before I throw out the material I added it a second time turned it into a displacement map and animated it like the material ..to speed up render I hid 2 robots and changed animated to 15fps. tuenned out interesting but not right for this project robot3.mov
  11. did a quick ..too quick scrub through it...transport of object with aid of boolean sorry no blue smoke transp.mov
  12. did a quick ..too quick scrub through it...transport of object with aid of boolean sorry no blue smoke transp.mov
  13. not sure what I'll do with the robots yet started to play with materials for enviroment and got carried away. I think I'll go for something simpler either a futuristic city or maybe an alien landscape anyone have suggestions I posted a test but you can see its just too weird added the checker pattern as it was being talked about robot2.mov
  14. okay tweaked the colors and added a light (volumetric with turbulence) now have to get habitat better action(now action controls turbulence the rest is hand postioning in chor) and maybe some force oh and not sure if the eyes on front and back look okay will post project when finished robot1.mov
  15. its not really a lag just a quick turn of the model.. this was only part of an idea..the rest will follow as time allows. This was a quick animation test on three occurences of the same model with an expression turned on in a pose to rotate the propeller. thanks for looking
  16. will post more later by the way it loops real well robot.mov
  17. Thanks for the comments on a reallly rough example..and Vern I added the character in there to show that the "cloth"and not the needle was moving no other reason,,and it was just a tga on a layer. hopefully the idea can be refined johnl3d the tinkering gnome of rough ideas
  18. okay this is still rough but closer to a sewing machine http://johnl.inform.net/pages/sewm.htm project file available on page again this is rough but it was just a side project and I don't have time to fine tune it tinkering gnome
  19. Sorry this is a bit rough but I spent 20 minutes on it render as line thread and a pose slider..very rough watch the last few stitches I can post the project later sew.mov
  20. chairs look like they could animate and be evil..spider like ..sit down for lunch and be lunch oh in case I'm looking at this wqrong ...nice render and models
  21. always some artist showing great work maybe I should learn how to draw... NIce Job ! johnl3d the d = doodler
  22. actually the stream is confined to an invisile tube so a force or even a small invisile object could proof intreresting busy right now but here's the project file and tga I used bubs.zip
