  1. Excellent work, Colin. The modeling, the rigging, the pose. Great! IMHO, the only thing that could be improved upon would be the lighting. Right now my eye focuses on his well-lit foot more than any other area. I would like to see more of the edge lighting on the rest of the figure, too. Thanks for posting your progress. It's very motivating. Jim
  2. Oh my! That is GOOD! Very funny. I just wish you guys had a longer format to show your talents. These are too short! Jim
  3. Cool hypnotic effect, Anders! Nice work. Jim
  4. Wow! Fantastic head model, Ed. He's come so far and he was very good back when you first started him. The expressions are great, too. Jim
  5. He's a great character, James! Very nice modeling. Did you really model his clothes separately? If so, are you going to use cp weights to avoid penetration? Keep updating, this is cool. Jim
  6. Congratulations, Zach! That's quite an accomplishment! And well earned, too. The virtual hot chocolates are on Zach! (We just had our first snow today.) Jim
  7. There's only so much info a pixel can hold. And when the character is rendered smaller in an image, the texture that was made up of possibly a dozen pixels in a larger image is now represented by one pixel. So loss of detail is inevitible. Jim
  8. Cool! I like it! He's a happy troll, I must say. Nice work, Jim
  9. Your model is looking better and better. A couple things to try to make it even more smoother are to make the patches as square as possible and as equal in size as the patches next to them. You also might try using hooks in the many rows of splines going up the middle of the forehead. That will eliminate the waviness caused by the splines being so close together. Keep going, it's really coming along nicely. Jim
  10. If you are in mirror mode, sometimes you can't make 5 point patches. Jim
  11. Nice texturing and nice model overall except for the front legs. It looks like the front legs have two "elbows" each. The "forearm" of the front legs should be much longer. I am attaching a couple reference pics found by Google, to show what I mean. Jim
  12. The model has very good form and is very light spline-wise. Is there a reason you are building it so light? It may not be easy to form mouth shapes and facial expressions if the mesh is too light. But I like what you've done so far. Keep updating! Jim
  13. Your modeling looks fine. It looks like you may be using the Skylark tutorial by Jeff Lew, as I usually do to start a new model. To simplify the mesh, try ending some of the splines, that run back across the top of the head, as hooks, so the splines don't ALL have to come down into the neck area. I suggest every other one or two should be made to end as a hook, and then farther back on the head make some more splines end as hooks. Jim
  14. Okay, Zach... have you been using a PC? Time for intervention! Jim
  15. If you haven't seen my video tutorials about decaling in A:M, they are here: http://home.comcast.net/~jtalbotski/tutes.html Jim
  16. These are a hoot! CrimeBomb is a 12 year old in a superheroes body. Good work! Jim
  17. Isn't it great how easy you can do some things in A:M? Congrats on your first animation and your new choice of software. I hope to see more that you create. Jim
  18. Wow! Very nice! It looks finished to me right now. Jim
  19. That was fun! Thanks for sharing. Jim
  20. Nice work, Phil! I, for one, would like to see a tutorial. Any speed increases like this are very valuable. Jim
  21. Wow! Those are the best 3D modelled ears I have ever seen. Uh... the other body parts are kind of nice, too. Great work, Yves! Jim
