  1. Hash wants to change the images in TaoA:M to only those that include data, so that anyone can examine the project and find out how to get great renders. I know you've been kind enough to donate to the "Extras" CD before; perhaps you would allow the data for this image to be included with V13?
  2. Did you know we showed this at the Hash party at SIGGRAPH? One of the few films to make the cut, (we only showed 30 minutes worth of stuff this year so that we could have more drinking time).
  3. Multipass is SLOWER than the ABuffer.
  4. I finally looked at this thread. Are you Shawn Arms or Carsten Bradley? I also see your posts over on CGTalk. I have some advice. The project you have ahead of you is challenging. Christina "Smudge" Hanson has a similarly aggressive project. So does Gary (gazzamataz) Abrehart, and Noah Brewer. This is big stuff. You guys need to feed off of each other's energy. I don't mean work on each other's projects - I mean to mutually support and compete in getting your shots done. Critique each other's work, etc. I'm saying this from experience. When you're working on a project by yourself, especially one where you are constantly questioning your own abilities and goals, you need a support mechanism, or you will become demoralized. The A:M community can help egg you on, but I doubt you will get much usable support. This is your baby, and your baby alone. You have shown impressive commitment so far. Don't look back. Keep your head down. Get kudos where you can. Believe in what you're doing. Sincerely, Martin Hash
  5. Elm, from SoulCage, is currently touring the West coast of the U.S., and he stopped by the Hash office! We took him on a tour of the Columbia Gorge then out for local beer before he headed on. What a cool guy. What makes this so amazing is that we didn't know he was coming, and when he walked upstairs unannounced and said "Hi," we were all watching this commercial on the forum for the 1st time!
  6. Oh, Kevin... I'm thinking GREEN MONKEY in the Oz movie.
  7. Jeff; Your donation of those beautiful models makes me proud of our community. I personally LOVE Dr. Suess AND Scooby Doo. Send them off to Paul too. (Remember to rename and change the color of anything that is copyrighted). Sincerely, Martin Hash
  8. Excellent. Nice camera angles. Nice color scheme. Timing good. Could make it longer and build onto the joke for film festival length.
  9. Wow! Yves will be pleased to see this. The room must be lit from the top of the stairwell.

    ROV

The volumetric lights have banding when they're partially blocked because the number of samples have been reduced. Increase the value of the volumetric "quality" setting. (Make sure that you add that reflectivity error to A:M Reports.)
  11. Andy, you've always been one of the best.
  12. Wow, that's a really well done, storytelling film. Good direction and sound.
  13. Wow. I really like how clever that format is. It's almost impossible to get people to watch something for long on the Internet but this format makes me want to see what the later frames are going to do, then the page turns and I want to wait for it to finish too. Do another one.
  14. I loved Speed Racer. I was the president of our local Speed Racer club, which I set up at my grandma's house. My brother, Marshall, was in the club, but he wasn't too excited about it. That Mach 5 brings back old memories. Keep it going.
  15. Wow, Tom, you're really catching on to this stuff. Keep it up. Take this "Tom" character all the way to completion.
  16. Raf, have I mentioned lately how great your directing and animating skills are?
  17. Well, Vern, it's now my backdrop. (Mike Sanderson had backdrop honors for a long time with his "comic page" Art Contest winning entry). Thanks for supplying the image.
  18. Damn, Mr. Brewer. Put those on A:M Stills so that a fast server can deliver your genius throughout the world. I bet those pictures will be a big hit in Japan.
  19. My wife wanted to know what I was laughing at, so I showed her, and now she's laughing. Great job, and good production value.
  20. Hash Inc. has a motion capture rig, a Polhemus 16-sensor. We haven't turned it on in years.
  21. John, You do such, er, interesting stuff... Keep it up. Martin Hash

    KONG!

On my LAPTOP (flat LCD), the image on the right appears correct (the hair in the image on the left is mostly in silhouette).
  23. Hey Peter; Those clouds look great. Your little animation clips really whet my appetite too. How close do you think you are to being done?
  24. OMG, you guys are gods! I felt cold watching that, and warm-n-fuzzy inside.
  25. That there sure looks like poster material. I don't know if you intend the final image to be the same camera framing, but the one you have is striking. Render that baby out big and send a copy to Hash. I hope she'll be entered in the "Hero" contest. As for all the hair work-arounds I'm reading here. What are you talking about: hair has pretty good collision detection. A couple simple examples of it not working like you expect should be submitted to A:M Reports so we can look at it.
