Mine was acting up during Answer Time, but when I set the Gamma in the Rendering tab (Tools/Options/Rendering/Gamma) to "Custom" and "1" it started behaving itself...not sure why, I'm assuming it needed to be set to something now.

Cool! I'm curious to see the results and costs.

Here's what I get: Current_gamma_test.mp4

Merry Christmas!

I did some more digging and found info on Desired Gamma here (a page from Yves' website using the Wayback Machine). The paragraphs that apply are these: This would mean that the "Current Gamma" should be set to the gamma of your monitor (which should be 2.2 for everyone). Then, the "Desired Gamma" is set to the gamma correction planned...which, if rendering to a 1.0 gamma OpenEXR, needs to be 1/2.2 according to this illustration (found on this page): Reading Yves' description, I would assume this correction for a 1.0 gamma would be applied when "Desired Gamma" is set to 1.0, but that doesn't work for me...I get a white screen. It does appear to work if I set the "Desired Gamma" to 3.4. I've been using 3.3, but if it's supposed to work at 1.0 there would be a difference of 1.2 and that would be 3.4 (going in the opposite direction). So, I'm thinking that "Desired Gamma" may be working, but in the opposite direction as intended? Well, as long as it works.

The subject of Desired Gamma came up and I was unable to get my software to cooperate at the time, so, I made an attempt at a video explanation of the little I know that I am posting here along with the Projects used and renders. One thing I still don't think I got across in the video is that if you are working with 2.2 gamma images, the gamma correction can get re-applied automatically with each iteration causing the image or portion of image (and colors) to lighten. Anyway, here is the video and Project files. Hopefully, it is helpful. Desired_gamma_testing.mp4 Desired_Gamma_testing.zip

Thanks for everything you do, Jason! Sorry about your test and holidays. Time crunches are not fun.

I'll bump this in case it was missed.

This might work...although I made the transition too fast and sloppy. Test_12_03_2018.mp4 GradTest02.prj

Thanks, Rodney! I'm going to treat it as a wake up call and attempt to step things up.

Hmmm....it took me a while to find these threads. They are now in the archive, I guess? Serves me right...I'm as slow as a glacier, unfortunately.

It's been a while since I had something I could show. I just posted an updated image for Donna (the Neighbor) here. I'm still working on a Squetch Rig update that will be done when I finish rigging her...she's the test model. I went down a path with the rig that I eventually decided against, so it has made the process longer than it should have been, but I think it gave me something I can still use...we'll see how that eventually turns out.

Here's an update for the Neighbor, who I decided to call Donna because I used Donna Reed as an initial reference (I used several other references after that though). I've made a few changes in the course of putting in a temporary rig before installing the Squetch Rig...sorry about the chest, my wife didn't like the mono-boob. Of course, she will have a top that will have a cloth material on it, so the underlying body is just there for that. I also intend to use her as the base model for future female characters and wanted to cover a few clothing options. I removed the temporary material from the pants for now, but there will be a material on the final product. Once she is rigged, I'll get back to work on her hair and then the texturing.

I believe that's correct. Try this. In the Action, while the issue is happening (bend the arm until you get the problem), select all of the CP's of the model, right mouse click, select "Assign CP Weights", select one CP from the list you have, re-enter the weighting, hit OK, save the model and restart A:M. The problem should disappear in the Action window as soon as you assign the weight, but I don't think it will stick until you restart.

I'm currently working on an update for the Squetch Rig, but I don't have anything I can post yet. So, I'll just use another "Stay Alive" post. I've got some free time currently and more free time in a couple of weeks, so I should make a lot of progress.
-
What I do for that is to select a CP (it doesn't matter which CP you select on the model), right mouse click, select "Edit CP Weights", re-apply the weights on that CP, save your model and restart A:M. This has always cleared it up for me in the past...I'm not sure why it does this. Hope that helps.

Looks great, Mark! -
The finger geometry bones have a pose to unhide them in the hands folder...which is in with the Poses for animating. The thumbs have separate Poses from the finger Poses.
