  1. I'm trying to get to more on this, Steve. I've been spreading myself very thin lately, but it will happen. At the moment, I'm upgrading the Squetch Rig and then making installation tutorials...which is loosely related because that's what is going to be put into Bertram. I've had very little free time since sometime in December...I thought it would taper off at the end of January, but it hasn't. I've got about seven or eight irons in the fire, so there is still movement behind the scenes. Sorry for the delay. I'll see if I can do more in the way of multi-tasking...maybe that will help show some movement.
  2. Using IK arms should keep the hands from moving...unless you reach the limits of the length of the arms. Hope that helps.
  3. Happy Birthday, Jason Simonds!
  4. Looks great, Mark!
  5. The Expression in this tutorial could be applied in more situations than I could list...usually as a small part of a lot of Expressions and constraints. Off the top of my head, I know it has been used in things like the Hand Gizmo and the face rig in the Squetch Rig...it's a building block for a lot of setups. It's similar to an "orient like" constraint, but the rotation is able to be isolated on a per axis basis and requires actual rotation being applied to the source bone. Expressions in general are extremely powerful...this tutorial is a very simple example. They are a big part of a rigging toolkit along with constraints, Smartskin and bone parenting...each used for different reasons depending on the situation. Hope that is helpful, Jason.
  6. I've been bouncing around a little, so I'll have to make another "stay alive" post in this thread...I've been spreading myself a little thin, but things are still getting done. I spent a couple of evenings worth of time putting together three "Quick Start" tutorials on Expressions that are in this thread. I'm hoping it is the start of a large collection of such tutorials on a number of subjects made by the community...we'll see. I felt that it was time to make the ones I did...I'll make more as time permits. Still tweaking the rig...which I feel is improving steadily.
  7. The set looks great so far, Lloyd!
  8. Very cool, Matt!
  9. Great stuff, Tore!
  10. If those CP's aren't assigned to a bone, that could happen.
  11. Great stuff, Will!
  12. The only critique I have is that the four square corners aren't beveled...that would make it perfect. Very cool, Myron! ------------------ EDIT ------------------ Here's sort of an illustration of the splines that would need to be continued to bevel the corners (sorry it's a little sloppy). Then a very slight rounding on the corners would finish it off.
  13. Fantastic, Will!
  14. Happy Birthday, Holmes!
  15. The only problem I see is that then the surface would have no thickness...so it wouldn't look realistic.
  16. Whenever I run into extremely strange behavior, I first try rebooting. If that doesn't fix it, I try a clean install...which is very rare. Hope that helps.
  17. The InstallRig plugin is used when installing the Squetch Rig and the 2008 Rig (unless that has changed in the 2008 Rig), but you can make your own installation rig that uses the plugin if you'd like. I made a tutorial on how to make an installation rig that you can get here. The plugin re-parents bones according to the naming of the "INSTALL" bones, then hides all of the bones except ones with "geom" in their name. Hope that helps, John.
  18. Great stuff, Dwayne!
  19. Looks great, Dwayne!
  20. You are Right, so, I have thinking to correct that part in the rig... I mean adding some smartskin, fan bone or CP weights at the final...so , there are many troubles like this in the models... the rigg is not finished yet...by the way I wonder if you could give me some tips that help me to correct this troubles I hope you could.. I admire the way you resolved troubles like that in the squetch rig...for me it is one of the best rig I have seen in this forum...I am doing this project in my spare time so I did not having time to study the squetch rig...so I am doing it at the easy way for save time ... I am using the rig that I know better---thanks for all David Smartskin and weighting might help, but I think one more spline ring will help the most on the shoulders. If there's anything I can help with, let me know and I'll take a look at it.
  21. It's fun to see him move!
  22. It's still ongoing, but extremely slowly at this point. Right now, I'm working on getting the installation tutorials for the Squetch Rig put together...of course, there are some tweaks that I'm adding to the rig before that gets finished. I've had very little free time lately, so that is also working against me. This project will get finished...although I admit it's taking me way too long.
