Jequed Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Jequed, do you want to use the hands on my mario model? Yes, thanks. But I really like the shoes, would you mind uploading then so I can use it on mario? I find it ironic that I thought I was doing bad on the shoes, but really good on the head. Here's the shoes: shoes.mdl Quote
tido Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Man, I hate copy/flip/attach. what am I doing wrong? I know I can simply copy paste then flip the x but there should be an automatic way PS, dont laugh at me lol Quote
tido Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 here is the hand (I copied it from a character on the extras cd, added more details on the fingers and on the top of hand so it is not "all" from me hehe) hand.mdl Quote

Simply move the body to center of the X and right on the y axis Line. If you know what I mean. And if that doesn't work, you can 'select all' in front view and rotate it 90 degrees (counterclock-wise in your case). Then Copy-flip-attach and rotate back. Quote
d34th5t4r Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Here is mario, most of the way done. i am adjusting a previous model and i still have to fit the sideburns and hair to the face. And of course i have to smooth it out a little more Quote

the_black_mage Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 nice, he looks a bit cross-eyed though Quote
Heath_Naylor Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Hope those eyes are movable in some way. Quote
d34th5t4r Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 marios eyes aren't moveable yet but they will be. Quote
the_black_mage Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 you know what i think....maybe you should make that into Luigi's head too, that way they would look similar than completely different, you know what i mean. tido can model Luigi's and Mario's body and you do the head... Quote
tido Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Actually, that head is the head I made and gave to Deathstar so he could try to fix some problems with it. I saw he completly redid the mouth, moved the ears a bit, created eyes and maybe some other things but I would rather say it is our model and not his model... and... what did you do to the mustache? On pictures, it is black and not shaped that way... Edit: Why aren't the ears still round? mario is a character with round ears. Well it may depend of the image we chose... Quote

Thats a good idea, but I think we should still use the body of "J's" luigi model. he was doing a good job on it. he just needs to tweak a bit Quote
Nunsofamerica Posted February 12, 2007 Author Posted February 12, 2007 J spent some good time on that model, and he should be rewarded, it looks good. Quote
Nunsofamerica Posted February 12, 2007 Author Posted February 12, 2007 Well, here is the cast that is fully done so far. chrury will be rigging and giving shyguy a walkcycle. he is also busy with working on take 2, so it may be a bit before someone can use shyguy. Also mage, how is yoshi coming? Quote
the_black_mage Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 hey uh were are the bomb-om's eyes? btw you haven't told s exactly what your planning.... Quote
Chrury Sanson Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 I checked out the shy-guy for some preliminary rigging and found he has two left feet! No one minds if I fix that, correct? Quote
Chrury Sanson Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 take 2: test 1 This is right before he would start talking his lines. dodge.mov particles turned off so 3 seconds wouldn't take all night to render The eyes need some more smart-skinning. I'll work on that. Main points here: -How's the timing? -Does anyone know a better way for the camera shake? It's when Mario hits the ground. In a related note, I can't find the 'repeat' command for actions. I've looked where it should be (action properties) but it has misplaced itself. any ideas? Oh! What will be the finished movies resolution? Quote
the_black_mage Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 if it helps i can fix up the lighting to lighten the shadows on him.... Quote
Chrury Sanson Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 When things get finalized that would be great. It seems to be normal when it loads up, then I do something and it get brighter. Quote
the_black_mage Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 ok, but i expect the final movie to be something over 620 x 480 which is a common render resolution... Quote
tido Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Here is another update on mario. If you guys don't poing me anything, I will consider the body completed and I will need the head to attach it and complete it Quote

What i would like to do is give the mario head model back to Tido and have him make the Luigi head from it. i don't think Luigi's head is that different in detail from mario, it just needs some stretching and sculpting. The reason i changed the mustache to brown was so i could see the shape better while i modeled. It will end up being very dark brown. Criticism noted on the mustache...i will revert it to Tido's original shape. i wonder what i was looking at? Changes that still need to happen are : The cheeks need to be fatter. the eyes smaller. the nose and chin smoother. At that point i think it will be ready to go back to Tido Quote

d34th5t4r Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 i have something to show... Here is an eye test. eye_test_side.mov I have some reservations about using this system. the pupils have some problems as they approach the edges of the eyes. What you see in the test are the extremes that the pupil can reach without looking bad. Quote
totlover Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 i like your mario a lot he has so much character in him Quote
Chrury Sanson Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 C'mon I must have done something wrong. Are there really no comments? Talking test: For such a simple character, this was how I thought he should talk. Ala 'Paper Mario' gtalktest.mov Does he need lip poses? Let me know if you don't like it. The shy-guy would've had his walk cycle almost done (minus smart-skinning) but 'paste mirrored' isn't working for some reason. Quote
the_black_mage Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 lip poses arint nessesary, this video isn't going to be based on realism right? how the goomba talks is fine with me.... Quote

I think that the mouth movement is ok. i would have gone for a slightly more realistic jaw movement rather than scaling the whole head. When you open your mouth it's really only the lower jaw that opens. Quote

Chrury Sanson Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Only a small update today. My computer got taken over when I usually do my AM work. I might just have to animate in the mornings if this keeps up. Which do you prefer; The chalkboard coming from the top? boarddown.mov Or the side? boardside.mov (careful, they're quick) Of course, if you have another direction you'd like me to try (or if something's bugging you) feel free to let me know. EDIT: I have no idea where that sound came from. I had the dialog muted too... Quote

Nunsofamerica Posted February 16, 2007 Author Posted February 16, 2007 very good chrury. I like what you have done with the mouth movements you showed me yesterday too. Quote
Chrury Sanson Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Update: I have completed the first draft of the lip sinc for take 2. All it needs now are some secondary motions and various tweaking. I'll render it off after I stick the secondary motions in. While you wait, here's a pic of the goomba with the chalkboards new diagram. (approval pending ) Quote
Nunsofamerica Posted February 17, 2007 Author Posted February 17, 2007 very good chris. wonderful pic too Quote
Nunsofamerica Posted February 18, 2007 Author Posted February 18, 2007 Take 3 is being written up at this time. it will involve shyguy. more of a take to express emotion without words (because Shyguy cant talk). This will need to be taken on by someone who has a talent to fitting music to "moves". lol. So there wont be much of a script. I will explain to who ever wishes to take it on. Quote
Ilidrake Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Just my opinion: When the board hits the ground it needs to squeeze together a bit and then kinda bounce up. I've attached a simple example. Looking good, keep up the good work. test.mov Quote
