  1. I am also in agreement about the skin. I never thought of using the skin shader at the same time. Look real good.
  2. Here's a little update with some of the torso armor. I still have to add the bolts and straps.
  3. Are there any good tutorials on using BitMapPlus for something like landscapes?
  4. Well, I don't know if they'd be good for animation or anything, but I just place them where they seem to naturally fall for me. I use the same hands on most of my characters and they seem to pose well also *shrugs*.
  5. Thanks for the comment Mark. Yeah, usually that's how trolls are perceived, but I'm going with "The Changeling RPG" look for the base of my characters in this image. I'm assuming there are pics on the web that are similar though based on their universe. Thanks again.
  6. Here's one with some basic surface properties. Just to see what it will look like with some color. I'll be going back to the all white one until I am done with modeling from here -- probably .
  7. Happy Fourth everyone! In celebration of the holiday here's a little update; the finished modeling of the chainmail shirt. The chainmail itself will be added in as a texture later.
  8. It looks real nice so far. Try rendering smaller until you are done with the whole project . I think the tree trunks look a little weird. Other than that I really like what you got so far.
  9. Yeah, make sure you have spec turned on in the light in the chor. If it is, try setting specularity on the model itself and delete the decals to see if spec works at all in this file. If that doesn't work make a new chor. Your old chor may be corrupted. If that doesn't work set up an entirely new project with your model including a new chor. If that doesn't work...--- um, yeah.
  10. *rimshot* Nice. Now I want to see her singing Blue Skies, haha.
  11. Yeah, I'm fairly certain I will be upgrading to the v15 CD, but I can't until Christmas. I don't think I'll have the money until then.
  12. If you are refering to me , my real name is Jeff. If you are refering to me let me know, I'll send you an e-mail.

I don't even know what to say. This is beautiful.
  14. Thanks TheSpleen! Well, here's the boots. Not perfect from close up, but they look pretty good from farther back. Based on some pics of Viking boots I found on the web.
  15. What are you planning with her? I can't wait to see the fully textured version.
  16. I like the gradient, then the toon.
  17. Now, I'm in love with you, haha. That is fantastic. Almost makes me want to do a joint image with you. You do landscape and I'll do some characters, haha.
  18. Yeah, that's looking sweet. Would definately love an AO render.
  19. Yeah, that turned out great! I think I'd put some type of bottom on the car and maybe color it black or grey and rerender. I know it takes a while to render that pic, but that red shadow is a little much .
  20. Hey, that looks real good. I love the hair. The person looks familiar, but I can't place them. I usually use both porcelain and SSS -- cheating I know, haha.
  21. It might just be my personal taste, or maybe my neck of the woods (Wisconsin), but I would like at least some patches of darker brown earth in there . But like I said it's beautiful the way you have it.
  22. Thanks guys. I hate to hijack my own thread, but here I go, haha. Yeah I specifically built the alien head to work with the new SSS and 3DPainter at the time. I love 3DPainter and SSS . With the SSS it's all about getting you lighting right. But basically I use the same setting for SSS all the time 6, 4, 2 and 100% (I used 5, 4, 2 for the troll head on the last page). Then I use a 3-point lighting with a stong backlight tinted red to really show off the SSS. I also use AO, Either Global Color or IBL. Global I usually set at 35%, 100%. The alien was really fun adding all that displacement in 3DPainter. Once you have your UVs set well in A:M it's a breeze. I still use Photoshop for some details though. Here's a link to my September 2008 win in the Image Contest using the alien: http://www.hash.com/stills/displayimage.ph...&fullsize=1 the thing is I was going to make this Image better when my pc totally died on me. I lost most of the files for this project when that happened. I also lost all my files, including pictures, from the October Entry for the Mascot Image Contest *sigh*. Thanks again.
  23. Wow, that water really livened up this scene. I still think you need some darker browns in there, bit it's looking fantastic!
