  1. whew...that's a relief...given that I last thought about this in april, one might conclude I'm into the waiting it out thang ... I would purchase on black friday. New egg, ibuypower, and another good computer company cyberpower will also be giving deals. I would expect as much as a 20% savings from todays prices.
  2. Definitely a lot to think about. As for more render nodes just email Jason and ask him how much they would charge for some more nodes. Tell him how much you will need. The price is not significant. I am sure he can give a discount for Nancy who was a huge contributor on TWO and SO. In my opinion the bang for your buck is with a 6 core AMD desktop. Those extra render nodes will come in handy for AM animations. You will need at least 12gigs of ram to make efficient use of the nodes spread across 6 cores.
  3. I have Photoshop 6.0 and it works fine on Win 7 Home Premium Their RAM sounds overpriced. Unless you are using more than 16GB of ram in your system you do not need anything more than Win 7 home premium.
  4. Thanks for the links, suggestions Jason, Fuchur. The base system being offered on Dell is $850. - that includes: Base - $849.99 i7-2600(3.4GHz) Win 7 Home premium * 8GB SDRAM ddr3 at 1333Mhz, 4 dimms * 1TB 7200 HD nvidia geforce GT530 (1GB) NO speakers *, NO monitor thx truStudio PC * (16X CD/DVD burner, wireless N, usb 2.0, ethernet, MS Ofice starter, keyboard, mouse, Mcafee 1 yr, 2 yr Limited HDWARE warranty, inhome service, etc) I modified base system, increased price to $1419, now includes: win 7 pro- (added $130.) 16 GB SDRAM dual channel ddr3 at 1333Mhz, 4 dimms (added $360) cheap speakers ($20.) Soundblaster xfi extreme ($60) Not sure I need the win7 Pro ? Only upgraded because I wanted to be able to run some programs in xp mode if necessary (I have old PS, Illustrator, etc software) Definitely want 16GB (maybe this is too expensive?), need speakers. Upgraded sound from integrated sound, to dedicated sound. My current system has integrated, and it is impossible to record voice cleanly Not sure if I care if only has usb 2.0? Isnt that Dell only a 4core? I highly recommend you go to a site like ibuypower and customize. I feel that dell is over priced.
  5. Better deal http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16883229257
  6. I recommend this. I own one. no problems with it. 24x7 tech support for life. only $799.00 Its a six core 2.8GHZ with 8gigs of ram , free shipping, ATI Radeon™ HD4350 Silent Graphics Card w/ 512MB DDR2 VRAM http://www.buy.com/prod/zt-affinity-7377ma.../220293610.html
  7. That is very very fast. But not surprising from a 3.4GHZ Intel I7.
  8. I love your look and style. You are a true artist.
  9. not bad. The camera work is not very realistic. I recommend the smoothing out those splines
  10. Lightworks is a sad story. They had it all before anyone else. Before Avide, premiere, or FCP. They dropped the ball. I remember talking to them at NAB 11 or 12 years ago and it was so sad. They knew they had made major mistakes in promoting their product. Avid quickly over took them. But Avid did not learn from their predecessors mistakes and now they are in trouble big time. They were very greedy charging 10's of thousands of dollars more than Adobe or FCP. All the while apple was giving away software to schools training a legion of editors who have now come of age. Even with all the bitching about FCP X, it is by far the most streamline editor I have ever used. I was once a master Jedi of Avid, Premiere, and FCP. I always felt they were clunky. I felt like a lefty in a right handed world. Always thinking maybe its something wrong with me. Not anymore. FCP X for all its flaws and boy does it have a bunch, It is the fastest most intuitive editor I have ever used bar none.
  11. Something soothing about it. I think I watched it for 2 minutes strait.
  12. work around. Bake in 15.J than render in 16.a
  13. Ok 15.J works fine baking this project. 16.A has the problem you describe. I recommend an error report.
  14. Ill test this later. My guess is that the project was not baked. I have had this issue happen when particles are not baked in conjunction with using Net render.
  15. I leave it on, but who knows that could be my line artifact issue.
  16. You can use the simple progressive render and step frame by frame to find them. I tried delting things like forces to no avail. Deleting keys will solve the problem but the problem often comes back unexpectedly.
  17. Good idea. I will use wire removal in AE. Can you post an error report. I only ask because I think you will write the problem better than I.
  18. Your work is probably the best AM has ever seen on average. If that makes sense. My only thought is the color is too saturated. dull it down a bit. Real life is rarely that saturated but if this was in an HDRI it might be par for the course.
  19. It works but now we are back to the render line issues. Any ideas? do you see those?
  20. If you start a blank project, save it and reload it, you still get that? No but the but on the projects it does ask for. Everything is there in the project its not missing anything even when you cancel what its looking for. Strange right? I assumed this was a known issue. I ddint flag it because it does not seem to cause any problems with my projects because like I said all the assets are int he project.
