  1. I got taken by the opening sequence fromt he game dawn of war and started modelling my Space Marines again - but I couldn't think of a good storyline so dropped all the work after producing the image project in 2005 (?). Maybe one day I'll try it again. Cheers
  2. Thats quite good. A couple of things: 1. Monkey is a little sluggish - his actions aren't snappy enough. You need to take a few keyframes out of each motion. 2. The look down might look better/more natural if he looked OVER the arm rather than down through his seat. Cheers
  3. Not my idea ..... This one came out of Killer Bean. Cheers
  4. Is this what you are after? http://www.david-higgins.com/Animation/Effects.htm Cheers
  5. Yeah - looking over the last couple of days I think I should have had a thicker skin and realised I was taking things the wrong way - my appologies - it must be the season and those once a year family gatherings of the in laws, travelling and overeating I do like the charatcers - its just my military background has enforced a lifelong desire for uniformity I'll have to break that habit sooner or later. Cheers
  6. Veilled attacks on people opinions are not warranted. You can agree or disagree with an opinion but do not attack it simply because you don't agree with it! We can't all be as 'hip' or as stylish as you obviously think you are!
  7. Style? What does this have to do with consitancy or 'photorealism'? For consistancy if they have large feet then they should all have large feet. If they are to have small feet then they all should have small feet - or does foot size have some hidden meaning? Cheers
  8. Nice, The only inconsistency I see is the relative feet/shoe size. Any reason they vary so much?
  9. The option is in AM's Tools/Options dialogue, first tab. What is it set to Direct3D or OpenGL? This is something that your video adapter must support. If your video adapter doesn't support either to the extent that AM requires then you need to download a driver for it that will or move to newer hardware/software. Cheers
  10. If memory serves that is a Direct3d error. Have you tried using OpenGL insead. Cheers
  11. I have the same popup issue on my iMac OS X install. Permissions are fine.
  12. I tend to sharpen my renders i PS (something I personally prefer), do you think that caused some of it? Probably. For static ground shots it's fine but in flight there is vibration and movement that just isn't portrayed (except for the props) Cheers
  13. There are always possible compatability issues between models from old versions etc. Try using one of the v15 Library models and see if you have the same issue. The other thing to try (if you haven't already) is to using the Page Down key to have the graphics driver render 1 subdivision per patch where as the default is adaptive (a lot of subdivisions) I've not had significant issues with v15 versions on my P4 laptop at 1.5ghz and 1gb ram (mobility Radeon card circa 2005). Its slow on complex scenes but not as slow as you describe. Cheers
  14. If you are using the library characters in v15 then you might want to turn Hair off first (Options/render - it's checked on by default at install time). As far as I can rememeber, v8.5 didn't have hair..... Cheers
  15. Hi Stian, Superb modelling and texturing as usual. My only issue is that for an 'in flight' shot, the outline of the aircraft is too sharp (this includes the outline of the reflections as well). We should see a hint of the reflections rather then perfect reflections - how about a little gaussian blur? Cheers
  16. There are tutorials in the various books and training tapes/CDs/DVDs available for AM. You might also try visiting the various resource websites and see what is available there: http://www.lowrestv.com/arm/ http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showforum=50 http://www.clipclip.org/clips/detail/16073...-2005-tutorials Plugins: http://www.sgross.com/plugins/ Cheers
  17. I concur with Vern. You'll find many AM users to be 'zealots' in the protection of 'our' software but you'll also find we offer a similar level of support for true AM users You might look around for local dealers/resellers. A quick call to Hash (or email) will reveal a list who may be near you. Cheers
  18. Actually if he borrowed such a "dud" CD, what does this say about the person he borrowed it from?
  19. If you are moving from v12 to v13 AM will typically install into a new folder so if you are just using the one desktop shortcut you will need to change it. If, however, you mean that it won't run because the CD key is the wrong version then you need to talk to Hash. Note that the latest version of 13 may require a 2007 subscription - not a 2006 subscription (ie the latest CD) Cheers
  20. If you added another copy of the walk, AM will have tacked it to the start (or most likely the end) of the all the current actions for that character. Just keep scrolling the timeline to the right and you should see it.
  21. 1. Select the ground in the Chor and hit the delete key. 2. Select the Camera under objects (or in the Chor), Open the properties and its listed there. Cheers
  22. I can't get over the fact that he called himself a newbie - doesn't that imply proper ownership of the product! Now lets see, what other titles could we use.............
  23. Hi All, I've been away for a long time due to time constraints related to work and study. Unfortunately I can't continue on this model in the short term (or the associated head animation work) so rather than leave the young director I was dealing with in the lurch I thought I would introduce him here and anyone willing to continue where I left off can chat to him (it was an unpaid gig). Daniel Ross is his name and he has a lot of material available to download to you as you need it. He has been a delight to work with and not a hard task master. As I said - an unpaid gig. I think it would be OK from a moderators perspective as long as the resulting model (less decals which might be copyright) was made available to to forum and development of the model and resulting animation was discussed on the forum for others to learn from. Cheers
  24. Point at 1 seems to be depressed or has thebias arms tweeked incorrectly. Points at 2 (and matching points on other side) indicate bad splinage. At least one of those splines dead ends at the CP The corners of the mouth also have far too many splines that are far too close together. You'll be hard pressed getting those splines smooth. Cheers
  25. Everything in the Chor will have a name that can be mached to the item names in the nodes under Chor in the project workspace. Yes, RIM is one of the 3 default lights auto inserted into the chor when one is created and it's effects can be subtle (or even invisible) to the inexperienced eye. Cheers
