  1. John awsome character..lots of personality..... love your stuff...........
  2. The last thing u want is to "BURN" urself out trying to run before u can walk......some people who are new to 3D or to A:M jump into complex work before starting small and it works for them and for others it don't.... You need to find out what works for you......what helps u learn.. I always recommend doing still life as a way to start learning a program and getting a feel for it / 3d..... it covers most of the basics modeling / texturing / lighting.... start small and don't be discourage by models / animations not working out; it will always happen...... just start again and spend time with it........ it's HARD work u must stay focus....... my thinking is - U keep it simple u have fun & you build a solid learning foundation...... and just build on that..
  3. I agree the first rock looks better.........also use a diffuse map to break up the uniform texture on the rock.... This will also add some realism to it.......

  10. what I do is make the falloff properties 60% this gives a nice bright appearence, if thats not enough then I create a LIGHT LIST and have lights shine on his eyes.......
  11. Hi guys...... I recently got interest from an art gallery here in Toronto that will be willing to sell my fishes as toys....... so am working on a few to be sent to China to be made into toys.......... here is one of the fishes.......
  12. Good job.......I like ur character.....I just think his eyes could be tweaked a bit...... but if thats the look ur after then keep it..... I also like the overall look and feel of the scenes very cool....... thanks for sharing.......
  13. nice model........but as stated it looks flat cuz of lack of specularity, also the even shadows sorta takes away....I don't know much about lighting so I could be wrong...... easy.......

Hi guys I thought I would share some WIPS along the way to creating my soldier fish........It was a very tricky concept for me to do but am happy with the results....... it's interesting how ur model changes as u tweak over time......made me chuckle a bit..... * His body texture is ALL A:M Materials......... * Only his helmet has texture maps...... * Total patch count is 1008........ Rodney - Thanks alot I have a few tuts in the making am just busy on a video game but will get on it as of next year....... jamagica - Yes I painted the background SMOKE in THE GIMP.........the rest of the background was rendered within A:M........then saved and taken into THE GIMP........ here is a few basic screen shots...... I use transparent layers in THE GIMP and layer them ontop the final background......then paint and blend as needed......I love how THE GIMP handles transparent layers very easy to use.......I use THE GIMP for all of my texturing and painting needs.... thanks again guys for the feedback..........
