Funny? Like how? Like a clown, like Vern is here to Amuse you??????
-
its not bad. I think slowing some things down might make it look better. Like slow the cloud down. and maybe slow the water down more.
-
yeah but isnt riggin fun:)

well, if you just want the waves to move across from left to right, why not just make a black wall like geometry, put a repeating texture and just move the wall left to right? no? too simple?
-
What? I'm not sure what you're asking. you want the boat to go up and down on the wave line?
-
I think a good way to get one into the proper mindset when laying out the mesh of your model is to understand that "it really really matters how the splines are laid out". You want the splines that make up the mesh to flow. think of the eye socket in the shaded/wireframe model you posted. you have 2 spline loops that flow nicely. Its pretty much the only properly laid out splines you have in the model. Also, you have 3pt patches everywhere. You use 3pt patches only when no other 4pt or 5pt patch can do the job. Understanding how to transition from spline loops to straight flowing splines will help you solve many problems you would encounter when modelling, for example in this image. Look for the patches that have 5points. this will help you get out of most spline loops and into straight splines. Like for example the arm flowing into the shoulders and into the chest/torso. to say it plainly.... the splinemanship is just unacceptable:) its chock full of 3pt patches. did you import this from another app?

that is a great looking home! I think it needs a 2nd floor terrace:)

rendering issues with hair system
3DArtZ replied to thefreshestever's topic in Work In Progress / Sweatbox
what version are you working in? v14, 15? If not v15 then you could post the project file, minus the guy and other props and let us have a go with it. I wonder if the patch normals are pointing in the same direction? would that make a difference? -
rendering issues with hair system
3DArtZ replied to thefreshestever's topic in Work In Progress / Sweatbox
My solution would be to do this without the hair system. other then that.... what format is the decal, how big is it file size? -
dont be sorry, its still just as great!
-
Yeah, I think we're gonna have to see some shaded wireframes to make sure this isn't just a photo:)
-
both images look great. you really have a great touch when it comes to these mechanical yet smooth flowing shapes. wow!
-
that is so freaking cool! u very dangerous!!!!
-
yeah, looking great!

From a composition point of view, its fantastic!!! The foot slipping solution probably will be found in editing the position channels. But the progress is great! Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

Cmon, make an animation of this turning his head or something, I just want to see how crazy good the surface of the model will look when its really ready to be animated! Good good good stuff! Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

Its just great! Looks like a real statue or something like that! Fantastic. Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

Damn.... great work on the rig!

You're absolutely correct and I did consider it. But some rough calculations suggested that you'd have to have something like 36 radial cross sections to have a moving bulge as the wheel rotated that didn't "pulse" from cross-section to cross section and it would probably still be a bias tweaking nightmare to get it to look realistic in motion. I couldn't justify this type of patch overhead on just a car. a distortion box would simplify animating that. However an easier solution might be to deform your eight-rib wheel once and then just rotate the texture on it. I think that would be visually indistinguishable from actually animating the mesh. Those are some intuitive thoughts robcat! I was just thinking if you did it only for the still shots, as, when the wheels are turning durign driving you might not notice it as much either way. But for a still, I think it would add great to the detial of the shot. Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

Pretty cool! I'm just making up a crit here:) I wonder if you deformed the part of the tires that touch the ground to show wieght, if it wouldnt convey a bit more of the excellent realism you've already achieved? Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

right-o! there is no real need to have that hook there. the spline that runs across the thigh and over the back is not needed. I would just delete the part going over the back and connect it to the hook. but thats just me. Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

Mark, Even though I can see that the dandylions (not sure what name the flower is) do have variations to them, something looks repetitive about it. I sort of feel like maybe they are at the same height as one another or maybe where ever they are they overpower the grass and maybe in some areas the grass should over power the flower, specially further away? I don't know. But over all, the image is super cool! keep us posted. Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com

Very cool! Lets see some shaded wires!!!!
