Hey Darklimit, Just a minor thing ... it looks now like its on a hardwood floor. Instead of a table or a bar. Though if you were drinking this next to a fireplace that might make more sense. Excellent progress ! Doug

Rodney, I'm using the 2001 Rig, though I'm not done with rigging just yet. Still working on the shoulders. I need to figure out how to mix elements I like (IK on legs) with others (FK) on arms and hands. I take that as a compliment - Thanks ! This is just the toon render option. I haven't tried the toonation plugin. Should I? I really like the look of toon rendering and though I originally didn't design this guy with that in mind I think it will work. Oh and btw - if he looks a bit 'demon possessed' as one friend of mine said, I haven't done enough work on his eyes yet. Thanks for looking. Doug

Thanks Zach. Well nothing that I'd show yet. Doug

Can't help but I think it looks great so far. Now get that olive in there. I always enjoy seeing what you come up with. Doug

Hello all, I've decided to embark on my first short short short film. If you follow the link below you can see "Donny" the main character. I would like any comments, impressions you might have. Is this someone you'd like to look at for a minute or so? Wires and other renders to follow. Thanks for thoughts. Doug click here for Character : Donny

Looks cool but is very dark, on my monitor at least. Doug -
Another update, this time a scene test. This is still a WIP. Thanks for any comments particularly do the elements of the scene seem to fit? Still to do, add specularity to eyes(for that twinkle). Clouds, ummm ... what else? Worm / Apple scene test Thanks as always. Doug

you could try here ... Jeremy Birn Lighting stuff Good luck. Doug

Yes, I believe the modeling is complete, though i'm still undecided about whether I should add eyebrows. Thanks alot for your comments Darklimit. That's a motivator. Doug

Whatchu talkin' bout Pia ?! Anyhow I think its a good start. Look at the bridge of the nose in the far right ref pic. What you have now looks like a scrunched up forehead as a person may have in anger, which you have modeled as one big wrinkle. But in the ref you can see that its three different wrinkles all running vertically down the face. Also, when Gollum's face is at rest (as in the other two references) there is no wrinkle. I'm curious as to whether you should model the wrinkles in or leave that to when you're morphing into poses. Well ... hope this is mildly helpful. Cool model so far. Doug

Hey everone. Still working on this scene. I've updated the worm. This fella has been modeled in A:M, exported via another program and rendered in yet another program. I will be completing the rest of the scene all in A:M and compositing the Worm over it. Alot of steps but so far I like the look of it. Any comments appreciated. Thanks! Updated Worm at bottom of page ... Doug

I agree number two looks like a duck. I like the chromey look. Yeah he needs a tail. Maybe a segmented rubbery thingie. Nice work - keep goin. Doug

Just a note to say how much i like the recent updates. I dig the small one-eyed guy ! He is very cute, I hope he's sposed to be. You've got a great thing goin here!! Doug

This is cool ! I just love robots. For hair, how about an insecure security bot (round headed one) who looks bald and has always wanted hair. Give you a chance to try out some hair functions. Maybe Mags is a scientist developing a new breed of hairy security bots? Doug

Shaun - The site is now much more logical in its set up. I will take time later to read through you diary. Doug

Search this forum for Smartskin and you'll see a good description of what Will Sutton (aka Zandoria) does. I too have had little luck with fan bones setup so far. But this is all brave new territory for me. Best of luck. Doug

I see, thanks Parlo. Doug

I agree with DarkLimit. Perhaps this model is a good candidate for porcelain. Great job. Doug
-
Hey Parlo - Would you mind describing why you would sculpt the hair in an action window as opposed to modeling it that way? Is this so you can animate the hair eventually? I'm so excited about seeing this develop. I really love the proportions of the characters. Doug

Cool ! Very interesting character. Are those drumsticks clicking together for the claws sound? Doug
-
Ahhhh thanks. I really thought I was losing my mind. HA! btw - nice bear too. Doug

JIM ! Well, what to say .... . You sure do raise the bar around here. I would love to see this fella in a smoking jacket. Doug
