  1. I did a quick project using a small image ( square with 2px stroke with alpha ) as a group image set to transparency than I turned off with an off/on pose for each group thing.mov gives a wireframe-ish look thng.zip project includes tga file
  2. mateial effector would effect the skeleton also ....it is not selective I see a pose controling material with sprites as the ash or a boolean cutter I wil post a arnie head with that effect later as I am on "lunch" at work right now.   7. I could not get the effect I think you want with sprites but got it close with streaks..thought it worked before with sprites too even tried v14 train.mov TRAIN.zip
  8. Kelley I think you might have a reportable issue. I tried a quick test and it did not seem to be working correctly..will test later to confirm..at work now
  9. I should have animated the turb and had more lights turned on had the light higher etc etc but hey it was just an experiment lighted.mov lighted.zip v15b does render quick

  16. I do not see any render hits for animating the material but that also depends on how complicated a material you use I did this quick test and with a three darksim materials the render time on this was about 4 sec per frame where the simpler ones were 1-2 sec per frame gradient3.mov

  18. gradient material combiner can be use to combine two or more materials but it is great for effects Here is a simple model with a simple material along with a transparent material I set up a pose to have it become visible the great thing is you can distort the model in the chor or action but the pose works as set on the original model in this QT the model on the left is turned upside down in the chor and slightly distorted the model in the middle is the original and the one on the right is distorted more however the pose makes the object appear the same in all gradient2.mov gradient2.zip
  19. There seems to be some questions on using the gradient material and I was thinking of getting together a tut and do a simple project using it This is the sample using the cone primitive gradient.mov gradient.zip any comments or suggetions welcome

  22. there is a muzzle flash tut around use the search on the top of the forum . Then set up a on/of pose that you can use to set the flash on and off as needed
  23. Not sure what your question is do you want the gun to point at something particular ? Need More iinput!
  24. a jpeg is a iimage load it there and then apply to the model as a decal
  25. If the laser beam is a model set up a pose to vary the length then adust as needed if I have time I 'll post a simple example tonight
