Rusty Baby Mini Movie WIP
Bruce Del Porte replied to Heath_Naylor's topic in Work In Progress / Sweatbox
It looks good Heath, nice character design. Mom's fingers seem to dig into the floor a little, a couple of keys should fix that right up. You also may want to have the baby deliberately step on something as it comes out (a telescoping set of steps or something), it looks more like it floats out now. It looks like it will be a pretty cool piece. -
v13alpha saving material right - thanks

Hey John, As always, a very cool test. I'm going to try it on a face, I've experimented with but not found a good way to have a animatable burning face. Nice work! -
Great first model! Congratulations

Naked Demons from HELL!!!

Great model Colin! For such a ripped upper body, you may want to add some muscle definition on his thighs. If the legs are going to be furry, maybe it doesn't matter. I like it. -
Nice job on both tests. The movement looked very convincing. If I were to change anything, maybe shoot an angle thet lets us see the green guy's eyes a little more. Give us more.

A great looking site. It looks like a fun project. I look forward to more.

WEay cool effect! As alway John, a great experiment.

Great effect Mark, nice job. Maybe add a few splash artifacts jumping up on the leading edge using sprites or even streaks. A very effective flood!

I've been on vacation and missed it but Bravo! Very well done guys, very fun. Bruce

I like it. I agree with Robcat, maybe a a "Don Pardo" voice over in the trailer giving the 20 words or less synopsis of the story. would do the trick. If you are looking to punch up some of the walks or acting, try some of the exercises in the Student's section of the forum. Hair noise unfortunately is a compression artifact. Making the hair strands thicker and with less contrast can reduce the noise. By all means, I would post the entire film and link to it here. Do submit it to AM films. Nice job.

Yes, the mist is sprites. I don't think you have the degree of control of the sprites to form shapes once they are emitted, just forces to blow them around. In this case, the sprites are a completely separate pass from the head and I decaled the mist to the head surface. The rest is compositing. The mist pass is on the bottom, the decalled head and then a 50% alpha copy of the mist on top. If you look at the head fade ins and outs, that is about the extent of vagueness you can get without additional masking. Here I fade the mist more so the head more fully forms. Thanks More Ed's Head

Just messing around, looking to make a ghost. I used Ed Lynch’s head model. Ghost 8mb

Count me in! Thanks Rodney

Good job, a convincing integration of CG with live video. The blue truck doesn't appear to swerve at all before impact, is that really the case? Also you may want to delay the debris appearing until a frame or two after impact. Complete nit-picks I know, I like it.

Shortfilm: Writing with Celine
Bruce Del Porte replied to Manta's topic in Work In Progress / Sweatbox
Wonderful movie Manta! Walter Mitty type stories are tough to pull off. Bravo. -
"Better" is relative. Car finishes are usually highly reflective and specular. To take advantage of reflectivity you need something in the image to be seen in reflection, like a girl draped over the hood. I like the car.

Great Ad! I love the characters. Any idea on how many manhours were spent producing the characters and animation?
-
Great stuff, nice compositing! Maybe add a little more orange and soot/smoke to the flames. Big heavy thing that crash also need to maybe move a little more slowly as they disintegrate to get a sense of mass. Overall a some very impressive scenes!

Fur : Testing...1...2...3.. Testing =^.^=
Bruce Del Porte replied to nyahkitty's topic in Work In Progress / Sweatbox
Nice fur, is this for an image or animation? Fur that fine doesn't animate well, you will see all sort of noise, particularly when compressed. If it's for an image, it looks great. -
I have to agree, it stands on it's own very well. Unless you have an Incredibles parody in mind (it would be perfect), let him be his own Super. BTW, Bob didn't have a hood, just a mask.

In answer to your other question, dragging (in the PWS) an image or clip to a light will create a gel. I think the light has to be a kleig.

David Yes, that's the Windows Media codec. If you are on Windows it should work. I'll make a dial up version for the MM contest. What is the practial size limit for dial up downloading?
