  1. Looking good Rusc! Since you say you just have started to experiment I guess you probably don't have any animation tests yet... hope that works as well as the stills you've done thus far. If you find some free time I'd love to see the settings you used.
  2. John, Looks like fun! I look forward to seeing at least one complete animal (parted out of course) uploaded as I think that will help everyone understand the dimension requirements a bit easier. One more step closer to the "Make Dragon" button! Oh Yeah! My mind is racing for a basic monster/animal to put together... hasn't settled on anything quite yet.
  3. Sorry. Still no update but I did rediscover the old color test I was talking about earlier in the discussion. Thought it might be appropriate to post. Some of the other drawings I found and the comics I recovered are really encouraging me to get back into the comic book world. That and many of the recent posts by comic book type artist... and Gerry's Bugbots comic... and.... and... Well Here tis:
  4. Sharky, Looks a bit shiny (like plastic) to me but otherwise... Looking good!
  5. Carl, I like your work... very impressed to hear about your demo reel schedule too. Sure looks like I've seen some of those creatures before ;o) Best of luck on your job hunt. Now, how does that go.... Write when you find work!
  6. Most impressive... you are a lot more patient than me! I'm taking notes.... Lots of nice detail worked into the objects thus far. Keep it up!
  7. Adam, Interesting line style. You can see the anime influence there too. There are enough people with interest in Anime and Comics using A:M and the A:M Forum that I can't help but think joining together might be a really good idea. I'm not suggesting I be a major part of it (I hope! ) but I'd like to see more from those that aren't necessarily fine modelers. Whether their inclination be writing, 2D, 3D animation or general ideas... Not necessarily for full blown projects as there is not enough time for such a thing (from my perspective). Maybe some day for me. A:M Digest is certainly at your service. I'll look into how 2D fits into A:M Digest a little closer. Since (to my mind) A:M Digest and the Forum or basically one and the same we just need to make sure we don't misuse Hash Inc's resources or violate forum guidelines. Perhaps a creators corner or something similar could spotlight drawings that have yet to be realized in 3D! Then anyone who has the desire could try to model the drawings or barter with the creator. Are you asking for someone to model your characters? I think that is what you are saying... can you clarify?
  8. Mark, Thanks for all your effort to produce, document, illustrate and distribute your work. Awesome to see this kind of thing come together! I'm still looking for a good way to work trees into a project...
  9. From simple sketches often come wonderous 3D creations! Looks like it should be fairly straightforward to model. There have been many bird creatures created in A:M so you are in very good company! Zack points out a good spot that you may want to consider further as it could work as a decal... geometry of a combination of both... Zack also evidently hasn't been getting my Forum mail because there are still problems with mail going through! drat
  10. Whooo Hoooo! I just recieved my copy of The Mansect Rebellion - Featuring Bugbots today in the mail! The postcard too! I feel like I've returned to the good ol' days of comic collecting! Thanks Gerry! For the comic and postcard, for the extra effort it getting it out to me, and for getting me interested in a strange new world of insectmen (or is that man insects) that I probably wouldn't otherwise have seen. Best of everything in bringing new life to your creation in whatever method or media it might be. Smells like a bug (or two) that should be real winners!
  11. Sharky, Sharky is looking mighty fine! The addition of color is really adding to his image greatly too! I can't help but think he'll animate and look better animated if he stood up straighter... He is a shark with legs though... so I'm sure he's just fine. For some reason the side view is my favorite... very interesting face he has there! He reminds me of a drawing (minicomic cover) that I did years ago about a Loan Shark mobster with a gun! Too much fun. Good Job!
  12. Bernd, You slipped a post in on me while I was typing mine. Nice detail!
  13. Nice sword Ken! Most impressive. Is there any way you could post a group of wireframe and decal pics? That would be most helpful in understanding the separate components of this very interesting process. Oh, and I hope you figure out JKS Skylight too! I think the would look even better lighted with it! Bravo!
  14. Drat! Another thing I have no talent at.... music! I had no idea you were a musician as well... guess they never do make boy geniuses simple do they! Keep going Zack! Looking forward to seeing more step-by-step!
  15. John, I clicked on your link thinking maybe this was something I hadn't seen. I was wrong though... I saw that yesterday! (or was that two days ago) Sorry I didn't post a comment yesterday but... after being awake longer than I care to reveal... I fell asleep... and slept for about 10 hours... I'm now awake and ready to post a few comments. The live presence of the 'real' character after playing your movie I really would have liked to see! I'll bet that was really fun. The images remind me of Tokyo and the contrast of what living there is like too! Great characters and animation. Maybe later tonight (after the real job) I can go back in and look for specific things that were of interest. You might find it interesting to know that while I remember a lot of the general scenes and characters... I vividly remember the vehicle best. You did an excellent job of keeping the focus on the Jeep. Made me want to drive a TREO! Congrats to you! And to A:M Films for allowing us all to be able to see it!
  16. Very nice! Was this a one time advertisement or are there others in a series? Hope this one is on it's way to A:M Films!
  17. INCREDIBLE! And I didn't think it could look much better than the first one you posted! Wow. Will Sutton ran across something that might solve the hair issue. Hope he sees this and knows what I'm talking about. Keep posting those updates!
  18. Incredible as ever John! Congrats on your upgrade to v11! Upon seeing your little experiments I often say, "Kewl, Why didn't I think of that!" Then I realize there is just no way to think of *and then exectute" the experiments you do. Keep it up! You never cease to amaze and educate!
  19. Congrats on finding your samples and postcards! ...and more congrats on your day job! You'll have to tell us more... I know the feeling of rediscovering old artwork. It can serve as an excellent motivator and keep creativity flowing. I just rescued my (approx.) 8000 comics from storage... The good news is that thanks to Nevada temperatures and the way they were stored all are in almost the exact same condition as I left them 10 years ago! Gonna have to read a few one of these days. Long live comics! (Oh... and A:M too!)
  20. With apologies to Ken... I love it when people make these kind of 'mistakes'. Such interesting results and information are revealed! Now the trick of course is to store the information discovered for a time when we really need that particular solution or effect. That is not such an easy task!
  21. Howdy Ma'am, (Tips hat) This should get you there: JSL Skylight Rig Utility - by Jeff Lee I'm not to sure you can 'obtain' it though in the strict sense of the word. The utility is web based and thus can only be used online. There are other skylight solutions that can be obtained... but Jeff's is certainly hard to beat!!!
  22. Antony, Wow!!! That is simply amazing. Thanks so much for the wireframe view too! Looking at your efforts locks me into a battle within my mind. Concerning my own ability to model human characters like you can... one part of me says "Wow, you can do that with A:M too!" while the other part says, "Give it up Rodney you are officially done with your pathetic attempts at modeling." Both of these internal 'voices' are brushed aside at the moment by a third voice that says, "I want to at least try to do that too!" Bravo... More... please! Best, Schizorodney
  23. That is... most interesting... Have to say that is the strangest thing I've seen.. well since Frank Hulsey's plant characters only moments ago.... ummm... yes... that is MOST interesting!
  24. Frank, I won't hazard a guess... but will say that those er.. ummm... characters are as interesting and they are strange! Very nice modeling, texturing, and posing!
