Ross, So....umm... what's the problem? I looks like you've come up with a pretty good solution to me. I think one of the reasons Jeff Lew designed his 'Bean' with the mouth he did was because of your very situation. If you mean by problem the rigging of the mouth... someone posted a solution that involved running a series of bones around the mouth in a circular fashion. Perhaps it was John (Artbox) Henderson.... not sure though. Keep us informed about the question and it's solution!

Imagine Vern reading/revealing his script line by line in real time and you'll understand in part how cool it is to chat at #hash3d! There are more than a few times where things are revealed in a chat long before they are announced elsewhere. ...and laughter cleans out the sinuses... I'm only just now learning how to log these chats so I can refer back to them. Vern's revelation of "The (incompetent) Secret Agent is one I sadly missed. ... that and the most recent clone war...

Wow! What to say... that's cool. Other than what has been said... (He seems to step down to the ground... but then step down even further)... the only thing I might want to change is perhaps a quick zoom in from afar at the very beginning. I'd guess you'd favor a slower zoom in from afar if you are wanting to keep the pace... slow. Can't wait to see the whole thing!!!

double the character, but not the fun :(
Rodney replied to lazz's topic in Work In Progress / Sweatbox
As (I think) Marcel was suggesting, something in your action has generated the extra arms. You have several options: 1 ) Create a new action (Disgard the old) *You may want to try this just to be sure your current action is indeed the problem. 2 ) Dig into your action and remove the bad information *You may want to post the file for others to examine. The resulting education might be good for the rest of us too! 3 ) Roll your own solution *You'll always learn a lot this way -

I'll beat Marcel/ZPiDER to the answer... (competitive aren't we?) Print Screen Powertool: On a PC, display what you want to screen capture on your screen, then 'whack' the PRT SCRN button (The Print Screen button should be above the INSERT, DELETE, HOME, END, PAGE UP and PAGE DOWN buttons). Once you've 'whacked' the PRT SCR button a copy of your screen will be in the Windows clipboard. You can paste this into any application that will accept the clipboard graphic data. Additional Power Tip (Free!): If you hold the ALT key down while you 'whack' PRT SCR... only the 'active' window will be captured. This can be very useful for showing only the part of the screen you need versus the entire desktop/screen. -
--------------------------------------------------------------- Hmmmm... yes... most definitely. I see it so clearly now. Positive proof to all qualified observers with potential to access triciary data representions in superior form against those events where the initiating force invariably fails to exercise in precise measure the caution against magnification of nocturnal fatigue induced sensory depravation, which when multiplied, exacerbated, and increased, by an uncalculable factor, directs all available stimuli toward results far exceeding the regions of limited encyphaletic capacity. Gentlemen, clearly, this far exceeds my reasonable expectation of available faculties and would not appear to attain satisfactory results within my own regions of limited experiential knowledge. And for this... (I think)... I thank you! YYYYYYvvvvvvvveeeeeessssss! They're not using big words... but they're still hurting my head!!! *Sorry guys, for my late night attempt at humor

Very neat! Your point of view from the camera really captures the whole scene. Don't suppose you did a day shot?

Got here too late to ruin the ending for everyone. Sorry. I like the part where he falls through the roof Way to go Vern! I'm really looking forward to this one. *Really, in a way... I kinda like what you've got now! Very Impressive! I had great images in my mind when you 'read' the script in the #hash3d chat. What you've put together thus far is even better than what I envisioned! Now I really can't wait for the sequel!!!

Looking good! Cute little button nose and everything. Glad I checked in before going to work! Work will be much easier now. Thanks Javier!

Good question, Rich. There are several work arounds. What I've experimented with today was using curved images all connected in a panaramic view. For what I'm experimenting with here the flat pictures will probably be okay. This is not a hollywood blockbuster... It's just... My Robot Movie. If anyone has solutions to these type problems though... I'm all ears. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's me playing with reverse storyboarding... using 3D to develope plates for storyboarding: It's a test...

Finally figured out my digital camera problems. It seems my adapter, which is only about a month old, isn't working! Confirmed accessibility via Kinko's and bought a new adapter. Arrrgh! I was so focused on getting those pictures off the camera that I couldn't move on with the project. Talk about undisciplined... Here at last is an update. This one, for lack of a better term is called the Beastiary. If you look really close at the bottom of the screen you'll see a bunch of different colored images. They are pictures from the Zoo and museum. These pictures are to go in the black windows as images. If a close up is required, which I think one shot will require, that cage will have to have modeled creatures and environment to capture the detail. The Beastiary Test Here is an example of one of the cage placeholding images, courtesy of the Denver Museum:

Robert, Cool Character! But you'll have to add two more swords to have enough for all four hands! Don't know what might be the problem unless you have added multiple instances of the same model into the choreography. Do you have an action applied? What version are you running? You might save the project then test by removing things from the project until you discover the culprit. I would concentrate on the Choregraphy breakdown in the PWS first. -
Not sure I have the talent to do it, but sure would like to see one! Since only you and I have the insider information I guess we would have to do it. I do hope while creating the model you take a few screenshots along the way! If you supply a few pics then I might have to say yes! Seeing your artwork has made me think you and I could RULE THE WORLD at the end of 2004. Just in time for the CD image contest, or maybe 2005! By then the movie and the toyline may be out. If I can ever find it I'll post the mockup of the A:M CD I put together. Just having fun... This is 'your' character more than it is mine now you know. We crossed that threshold the moment you layed the first spline. A step by step might be a nice addition to the model. I've got a few more ideas for psudo-merchandizing-type accessories before we release the model to the A:M Community too! Can't let you have all the fun!

Hey Rodger, Looks great as usual! Sure would like to see them moving especially via Artic Pigs. You've been doing trains for a long time. Do you have a virtual railroad set by now? ...like the ones that people have in their basements?

Javier, Haven't done much on my end to further this WIP. I thought I might model some background scenes to go with the character. Sadly, not much splining lately... I did do CD and Book covers with the cybergirl as she appears today. See the attached picture for a mockup cover of the as yet unpublished book: The annotated Art of Animation Master.

I've often wished the images from contests and/or users pages could be presented on one page. Well, the credits page for Gregor Rostami's excellent Animation Master Demonstration has a bunch of them! View the variety of art that has been created by users of Animation Master via the Demonstration's Credits Page: http://www.hash.com/VM/credits.asp The link to Greg's outstanding Demo and the exercises from the Art of Animiation Master can be accessed here: http://www.hash.com/VM/ In a word: Wow!

Darklimit! Thanks for that! I haven't seen any Artic Pigs stuff in A LONG TIME! I like your character too! ...but I'm distracted by the potential of Artic Pigs... (As of right now I can answer #3. Nothing. Not a thing. #1 - Reminds me of the princess from Disney's Atlantis... just a bit more matured... #2 - I'd have to say, "Yes"! Keep posting! *Look everyone DLs posting Artic Pigs images!!!

Memory tells me it's was more than $20 but less than $30. Sorry, I don't have any specifics. A couple of other pluses, I believe purchase of Skycast allows you access to some free models, materials, etc created by John himself. Past models have included: Office Furniture set and a hanger (lab) set.
-
Just saw that John (Artbox) Henderson has updated his Artbox site! Very cool John! Music and Everything. Link: http://skycast.artboxanimation.com/ I believe the site requires flash to view and enter. For anyone you doesn't know this is the home of Skycast program. Sure wish I had time to play with my copy... Hope I'm not linking too soon. Forgive if I am.

The fact that this post and Ken's dynamics posts were on the list at the same time PROVES there is a conspiracy afoot. You conspirators digust me (In an entertaining kind of way).

Oh Oh, the Macheads are being released from thier cages... everybody lookout! Looking foward to their demonstration of how sink their teeth into the Treeez plugin. Make us proud!
-
...and well you should be proud! I like! My milk jugs don't have as deep a dent though... *(For Ken) Mine usually do have the dent though... There are probably several reasons for the dent. One guess would be to increase the surface area of the jug to keep the contents cool. My conspiratory mind first thought it might be to make it look like a bigger jug than the competition... but a gallon is a gallon...I guess. As Sigmund used to say, "Sometimes a milk jug is just a milk jug". Are you gonna decal it with a label?

Thanks Bill! And here everyone thought Keekat was just... Keekat! It's plain to see that a lot of care and thought went into building Keekat and making him the best model it could possibly be. From such humble beginnings... The Setup Machine... Cogs... Here a little... there a little... Spline... by spline... by spline... Collaboration of some of the best minds and talent in the A:M community: Raf Anzovin Dave Boutilier Jeffrey Dates William Eggington Mike Fitz Robin Johnson Brian Prince Bill Young A partial list of successful enterprizes also arises: 3DArtz Anzovin Studio Eggington Enterprises ReelFX Are we forgetting anyone? We've only begun our journey and analysis of KeeKat...

John, Definitely NOT cool! Seeing that bed made me really want to go to sleep... *Question: How much of this is based on real world references?
