If you can be more specific we can whip you up a personalized tutorial. So what we've got ordered thus far is: - Boxes - Lines - Arrows There are a lot of types of these objects so you may need to be a little more specific. Perhaps you are mostly interested in the modeling aspect of this but depending on your needs you may find the Font Wizard creates the shapes you want without modeling. There are quite a few Modeling tutorials in the Tutorials Forum: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showforum=178 ...and you are in luck.... not a single dancing bunny! If interested in the Font Wizard Holmes Bryant has an excellent tutorial on that: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=31432

Depending on who set up the character some may have Pose Sliders built in that control at least the basic poses of the hand. To access those you can either open the Pose slider window or drill down into the User Properties of the Character. I believe most of the standard models that are used with A:M come with basic hand sliders. For simple poses this'll beat working with the roll handles of the bones. ...they are also very 'handy' for gripping things with.

Inspirational in so many ways. Modeling, Rigging, Animation, Music... and quickly too! Looking great!

Most models of major cities will run you several thousand dollars. I've seen detailed ones selling for upward to $7,000. If you have models to trade (or can find someone that will work with you to trade their high quality models) this site might be of interest. http://www.3dworldclub.com/default.aspx I saw Chicago, New York and LA there. There are a variety of formats available but I'd think .OBJ and .3DS will work best in most cases. Edit: Here is the catalog of cities. Here in the forum there have been several attempts to get city projects going and several buildings made their way to the Extra DVD but building cities takes a bit of time and commitment. Something some of us aren't intune with every day.

Looking good! You've even got lodestones in there to anchor it down. I'm impressed.

More great additions with nice attention to detail. I definitely want some of those toys! Umm... for my... nephews. Ahem. As always looking great! (BTW... You may have noticed this... There is some serious suspense going on in both of your comic strips at this very moment)

Most of the A:M Tuts links have been off line for years. I'm not sure its worth bothering Jason to save anything. If you have the original Extra CD all of Alonzo's Bootcamp Tutorials should be there. Edit: Maybe Jason fixed something as this link works for me: http://www.hash.com/amtutes/Bootcamp/index.html If it doesn't work for you... yup... we should contact Jason.

Create Material from Surface property group Tutorial
Rodney replied to jason1025's topic in A:M Tutorials & Demos
A very straightforward tutorial of a very useful feature. Thanks Jason! -
Very nice! I'm sure Al is always happy when he sees his greebles being used. Especially when its used to create starships like this. Keep on posting!

I believe this is the discussion on the clouds used in the opening sequence of 'Tin Woodman of Oz' (TWO). There are some great examples and project files from Rich (Entity), Mark (mtpeak2) and all the usual suspects here in the forum. http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showt...29237&st=40 I'd be curious to see how a rolling/boiling cloud effect (somewhat similar to a slow motion explosion) might look using your technique. There's never enough time in a day to explore all the cool things that can be done with A:M but it sure is nice to know the effects are there if and when you need to use them! A rendering out of a few of these type of sequences with transparency (perhaps PNG or Targa images) might be just the thing for the Images forum area. I'll note to self to see what I can do to collect a few.

Critical Error when clicking on the Stills link
Rodney replied to Eric2575's topic in Work In Progress / Sweatbox
It must have been fixed or I'm clicking on the wrong link. The three different A:M Stills links I've clicked on all work here. Edit: The link that ends in 'stillz' posted here in the forum doesn't seem to exist on my end. -
You are NOT going to get away with just posting a link to this character. This character is meant to be seen. Excellent work Hutch. Superbly crafted character.

Render test Clip from for my presentation

The camera sync looks great to me. I'd say its ready to be taken to the next level. -
A:M Community Chat, Video Tutorials and other Resources
Rodney replied to Rodney's topic in Animation:Master
Sorry to hear of the troubles Jason. Looks like things are working fine here. Concerning that Bell. There is an icon right above where you type in your chat-text (looks like a bell). Selecting that will toggle the bell chime on/off. You can also change the size, type and color of your text/font. (please don't get too crazy with that though as it can be hard on the eyes!) -
That's some serious detailing Eric! You've been busy since I last checked in.

A:M Community Chat, Video Tutorials and other Resources
Rodney replied to Rodney's topic in Animation:Master
It was great to get caught up with you Matt. As we see more User Groups get active that may encourage more people to dive into A:M chat. ...and in 2010 there is sure to be a lot to chat about! -
Not sure of the OS but he uses a Mac. System Description: 10.5.8, 2GHz Intel Core Duo, 1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

A:M Community Chat, Video Tutorials and other Resources
Rodney replied to Rodney's topic in Animation:Master
A:M Community is a part of the A:M Interface. Part of logging in to the community is chat. To reopen the panel for login select View / Community (Shortcut key: Alt 6) in A:M. When you need to get back to work a quick Alt 6 will close the panel as well. -
If you haven't gone through the online videos that come with The Art of Animation:Master book you should begin your journey into computer animation with Animation:Master there: The Art of Animation:Master Video Tutorials You can work through these exercises alone but it's always better to seek feedback. To help you there is a dedicated TaoA:M forum and also a chat window right inside Animation:Master where you can discuss all the latest and greatest progress you've made and seek assistance in real time. If you ever login to chat and no one is there just drop a note here in the forum to let others know you are looking to chat! And don't forget to download the PDF versions of TaoA:M and the Technical Reference. Even if you have the hard copy books you'll find these digital versions useful... and easily searchable!

You've got me feeling like a kid at a comic rack! Pure excitement. ...and strip#100.... ooooh. COLLECTOR'S ITEM! He's awesome!

Sorry Ken. I should be more careful when responding. Going from memory I misrecalled the gesture as 'thinking' and failed to properly edit my response. The gesture reads as a manufactured 'woe is me' gesture so you've got that going on. My point was that there isn't time for a change in gesture and that makes that pose seem rushed... even without this particular gesture Googly may be in jeopardy of gesticulating too much. On the positive side, Googly seems to be enjoying himself and purposefully hamming it up, so its okay if he overdoes it. The underlying point... which I believe you've noted... is that it takes time for the audience to read a pose and then move on. As Googly is popping around all over the place this makes the reading of each of his poses a little harder. From an purely editorial perspective if the gesture doesn't flow as necessary it will be easy enough to lengthen the gesture to a moving hold or simply drop those frames out. I've experimented a little with adding Ease to rendered frames and in a pinch it can do wonders to resolve such minor issues in timing. I suspect that if editing the image sequence I'd follow the Editor's rule and when in doubt just cut it out. There just doesn't seem to be enough frames for the motivation behind the gesture to play out.

You are off to a good start. Its a bit hard to tell but I think the primary thing you'll want to adjust is the stretch settings of the cloth. You want the helmet head hair to move but not stretch. With such short hair you might not need to use Cloth. You may be able to just animate the CPs of the mesh to get the amount of movement you want.

Cool. A:M has a $79 fully functional demo version! I may have to try that out! That 'Nag Screen' remark at the very bottom of the softpedia page has me wondering though. They better not be talking about Ken's Troll on startup.
-
Nice! (I mean... nicely evil!) This short looks like it's going to be edge-of-your-seat!

Nice sequence! I too like the Googly Goo Sequence. The way he moves around and interacts with King Krewl really drew me in. The one gesture out of the whole sequence which seemed awkward is where Googly Goo raises his hand to his cheek his forehead and crosses his other arm over as if thinking. With so little time and no pause to allow Googly Goo to think that gesture seems out of place. I'm not sure what others think but it seems forced and perhaps unnecessary? There is a lot to like in this sequence and I should spend more time commenting on the work represented here. The parting of the clouds while decending into the city... that's very nice! From the characters perspective... breathtaking. Does one of the guards (the one on the right) disappear at the gate of the city? He's probably just off camera but I lose track of him. Edit: Okay, looks like he just takes off well in advance of our adventurerers.
