  1. t, Look in Robcats signature (its at the bottom of all of his posts). You'll find the link to his tutorials there. Edit: Robert is quick isn't he!
  2. I was probably expecting Dr. Suess. If my words sounded harsh my hope was that you'd take it right way. I want to encourage while being honest with you. Regardless, what do I know writing and illustrating children's literature... I certainly haven't published any books. Any thought to publishing in other languages? (Perhaps it'd flow better for me in Japanese) Sounds intriguing!
  3. Very nice Marc! Those reindeer are becoming a seasonal classic around here.
  4. Beautifully 'illustrated' Ken. It looks wonderful. I must say the words confuse me and the story has a chaotic flow but in most places in the world that fact alone will make it an award winner. For what its worth, the punchline/message at the end works! If you want more feedback I'm here for you but I think I'll stop there. Congratulations on getting published!!!
  5. Deleting attachments is a two step process from inside a post (three steps if you count submitting/updating the post) 1 - Access the Attachments Dropdown Menu 2 - Delete attachment by selecting the document with a red X 3 - Resubmit post Nice Horsey! Have fun cleaning that up!
  6. Oh... that's really good! You are cutting edge all the way Robert. Sorry, no guess on the caricature. Closest I can recall to that is Oscar Wilde (as drawn by Cerebus the Ardvark's artist Dave Sim)
  7. Cool. You know I'll be right here following along. Looking forward to it!
  8. For some reason 'Stride Length' pops into my mind. If the Stride Length is not set correctly you may get the effect of walking backward or sliding. Holmes, I think you've got a tutorials that addresses this. (Perhaps the 'Walk then Wave' Tutorial?)
  9. I think I see what's coming next! That's looking really good.
  10. I know you had other fans in the fire so I was eager to hear how you were faring. Hope everything went well! It's been too long since I checked in on Subject 99 too. I've missed it!
  11. True. Very good point. Is it a ? (Is it cheating if I guess a second guess?)
  12. Don't read my guess until *after* you've guessed.
  13. As Martin has stated, "The Special Topics are special". Even 'Martin's Minutes' got sanctioned to the Special Topics Archive after no posting for a month. All it takes to keep a Special Topic active is dropping in occasionally to say 'Hi'. Special Topics are special. Subject 99 is hereby revived. Its good to see you again Ernest!
  14. That's a fine breakdown Robert. What I find interesting is that the image I prefer (at a quick glance) seems to be the one that took 41 seconds. This one: If I wasn't already convinced that most scenes were overrendered... I might be now. More please.
  15. Just in case this is an important distinction... We cannot close the Channels window with the Project Workspace (PWS) open. The best we can do is Hide the Window - or close the PWS. In order to hide it, move your mouse over the side pane until you see the mouse pointer change. Then drag the Channels window until its out of sight. At a guess I'd say the reason for the additional render time is that A:M has to take the time to update the User Interface. Hiding that area seems to let A:M know updating the User's view is unnecessary. Note: I've created keyframes only for the purpose of showing the Keyframes visible in the Channels window. I'm calling this space the Channels window in order to distinguish it from the Timeline which can be closed. If you have the PWS open you cannot close the Channels window. You can only hide it from view.
  16. Second Time Rendering... Results: 15:15 50% on 1 core I changed two things as far as I know: 1) I made sure the Channels window was hidden (supposedly it takes longer to render with it cracked open) 2) In the task Manager I Set Priority to High for Master.exe I guess cutting over two minutes off render time is worth tweaking settings a little.
  17. This can be a useful measurement. If joining into the discussion please stay on topic and report your benchmarks as requested. (No need to ask why your post was edited... you already know why) Results: A:M 15g subscription 17:40 Sony Vaio Core 2 Duo CPU T5800 @ 2.00GHz 1 core? %? 4GB Ram DDR2 I think Vista 64 SP2 Nothing optimized here and I suspect better render times would result if I cleaned things up and optimized a little. I made no effort to shut down extra progroms or process and was connected to the internet. Will render again...
  18. Congrats Guys! It begins... Now watch those views on YouTube soar!
  19. I was wondering... thanks for cluing me in. That little bit of texturing really adds a lot to the sequence. All you '11 Seconders' are doing great things. Keep it up!
  20. You are off to a great start Lazlo! (Compressing to a smaller size will entice more people to download and view though) Looking forward to seeing more of this project.
  21. I'm pretty sure you are thinking of Marcos Rezende's Smartskin-influenced Decals. (He's known as 'Xtas' here in the forum) The main tutorial is on his website but you'll find interesting information and commentary and such from the usual suspects here: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=33460 A direct link to the tutorial: Using Smartskin to Animate Decals
  22. Mike, I guess I've already said hello in a way via commentary on your TaoA:M exercises but this'll make it official. With your experience with After Effects I hope you'll take advantage early of A:M's ability to render to image formats with Alpha Channels (TGA, PNG etc.). There is a whole lot of power to be found there. In short, leveraging A:M with After Effects will serve you well! Welcome to the A:M Forum.
