  4. This is a combination car. It's name comes from its dual application. The first third of the car has enough seats to carry twenty passengers while the remainder is used as a mail car. Since it's a modified passenger car it uses Pullman trucks which were designed for a smoother ride.

  9. Was reworking a 3d print version of this bust the past week. some day I'll have to get back to finishing the original I made in A:M. the wavy hair and a few other details were added in zbrush for the print. but I'd like to give him the snails on his head fix the crazy topology and give him a body... I have the green keychain hanging in my cars rearview mirror.. I thought it would be something to inspire a sense of calm during traffic jams (which was a daily occurrence when I drove into the office.)

  12. Been hard to decide what to work on for the Fall 2020 Image contest! But think I'm settled on this awkward guy. He is something I sketched up a number of years ago. Every so often when I rifle through my hard drive he resurfaces and I think it will be cool to make him in 3d, but then get busy with something else and he gets shelved..... again. So anyway... here goes the more serious attempt to bring him to life.

  13. Thanks Robert. I've made a picture to demo the work flow. Essentially I'll be using a choreography and the models I've already made, plus stand-ins for the ones I haven't (Like basic blocks to represent furniture or a body to represent characters I haven't modelled). That will allow me to get the correct perspectives on the images and then I'll use photoshop to finish the pictures. I've uploaded another example of Bernie waking up in the morning. In the story he's wearing his pajamas, but I don't have a model, or the time to model and texture a different outfit for him. So I used the model I h

  14. So, I ran the numbers and quickly established that if I wanted to release Bernie some time before the heat death of the universe, I was gonna have to change tact. Modelling each individual character, costume and location was going to take waaay longer than I had available so I came up with a solution that I think will work. I'm going to use A:M to rough out the images I need and then sketch over them in photoshop. Case in point I needed a picture of Mrs Burrows in exercise clothes. My model of Mrs B has her in a long dress and rather than remodel and texture her into a new outfit I t

  24. That's a fine way to learn the organ playing, Michael . I'm practising a bit, but this goes still a bit faster I can manage. Decided to use the Newton Fysics explode on the organ, so the ogre can smash it with its axe. .

  25. Typically most of my renders are exteriors shot under direct sunlight. Since I have this factory in the background I thought I'd take a crack at an interior with sun and sky light streaming through the windows. Ultimately the desk will be pushed against a nearby wall so I don't have to ask any awkward questions about where the lamp and phone cords go. The ceiling has a few hanging incandescent lamps, the hand car under repair is under one of them.

  28. An important scene in the book takes place in a cave near Lilymoss Pond. So I've been modelling them for making illustrations. Bernie is tiny in the choreography from this angle. The hill itself is 120 feet across, stretches back 100 feet and rises 40 feet from ground level. I've used maps in the decal to dictate the length of the grass (hair) although it's not very visible from this distance. The trees are separate models made using the treez plugin and the leaves were made using hair again with an image of oak leaves added to the emitter.
