DarkLimit Posted September 30, 2003 Posted September 30, 2003 Hi guys, I posted this scene a while back on the list and I though I would post it on the new forum....... I created this as a STILL LIFE, just testing out lighting and texturing. http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galle...it&ByArtist=Yes thanks for viewing. Quote
jfirestine Posted September 30, 2003 Posted September 30, 2003 Nice textures, lighiting and camera work!!!! Excellent render, I cant wait to see the animation. Joseph Quote

littleandy Posted November 1, 2003 Posted November 1, 2003 dang. Great textures and volumetrics! How did you do that? And the curtains. Teach ME! Quote
Mega Posted November 1, 2003 Posted November 1, 2003 I especially like the pipes and wood flooring. Are these procedurals or decals? What type of light set up did you use? Quote
DarkLimit Posted November 1, 2003 Author Posted November 1, 2003 Hi Mega & littleandy - Thanks alot for your feedback......... Here is a brake down on the scene...... I have 4 TOTAL lights in the scene.... most of the details are in the texturing / modeling !! I will start with a view of the overall scene...... as you can see here I modeled each board on the wood floor so that they all look different. I rotated them made some smaller; added some nails on the planks; added pipes etc....... the texuture on the pipe is an image map, also on the walls and drapes.. Quote
DarkLimit Posted November 1, 2003 Author Posted November 1, 2003 Now I modeled the drapes by first drawing the shape I wanted then extruding it then tweaking it to how I want it........ Quote
DarkLimit Posted November 1, 2003 Author Posted November 1, 2003 It took alot of tweaking to get the scene the way I wanted it....... I hope this has help you...... I may write a TUT in the future on how I did the entrie scene...... thanks for your interest in my scene guys..... Quote
Zaryin Posted November 28, 2003 Posted November 28, 2003 Hey Dark, this is looking awesome. Congratulations on this. It turned out great. Quote
Mike Lium Posted November 28, 2003 Posted November 28, 2003 WoW! Very incredible texturing skils you should at the very least write one on that Quote
Phil Posted November 28, 2003 Posted November 28, 2003 I really like the detail of the boards. almost looks like a place i once woke up in after trying some homemade port wine Quote
DarkLimit Posted November 29, 2003 Author Posted November 29, 2003 Thanks alot guys am very surprise of the results myself ... Phil - ROFL I have some wine hidden under the wooden floors LOL you guys are awsome...... Quote
DarkLimit Posted February 14, 2004 Author Posted February 14, 2004 Hi guys.... I have decided to animate the drapes in this scene, and render it with Radiosity. How would I go about doing that? am not familiar with cloth stuff.... in the manual it covers it a bit but is there any TUTS that goes a bit more indepth? thanks in advance.... Quote
jimstein Posted February 19, 2004 Posted February 19, 2004 Nice! Isn’t the atmosphere at that attic it a bit clean though? Keep more of that god work coming! Quote
Guest mrsl13 Posted February 19, 2004 Posted February 19, 2004 WOW..Ive been there really Ive been there...if only in my head Ive been there... Great job... Mike Quote
DarkLimit Posted February 20, 2004 Author Posted February 20, 2004 Thanks guys..... jimstein - This was done as a lighting test in V8.5.. I did not have plans for it when I created it, but this scene got a bit of attention so I will load it into 10.5 and add more atmosphere to it... thanks..... Quote
jimstein Posted February 20, 2004 Posted February 20, 2004 It certainly has potentials! If you do something more... add a mousetrap(?) Quote
HomeSlice Posted February 20, 2004 Posted February 20, 2004 I've seen this image before, but since you posted it here I thought i would add my comments too. This is a great image for a backdrop. It really has alot of ambience. Nice texture and lighting work! It doesn't seem finished though. Right now it seems the focal point is the window because it's so much brighter. So I look to the window to get the "punch line" or message, but I can't see a message other than the allusion to a distorted reality, which is cool, but that just sets the context, it doesn't deliver the punch. I know you have a strong message because it is in your other work. Just include it here and you will have yet another piece that needs to be framed and on display somewhere! Quote
paulmcg1 Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 It took alot of tweaking to get the scene the way I wanted it....... I hope this has help you...... I may write a TUT in the future on how I did the entrie scene...... thanks for your interest in my scene guys..... Love this Dark. I think its one of your best at least from all your work that i've seen so far. Keep up the great work and I cant wait for the tutorial on how you made this. Paul Quote
ypoissant Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 This is a really great scene. The atmosphere is superb and the decaling job is amazing with details. When I see this image, the first thing that draw my attention are the desks. I don't know if that was your intension but they have an antropomorphic feeling. They look like living furnitures with their mouth open and the front one with its drooling tongue. Like they are ready to jump on whoever will enter the attic. This considerably adds to the spooky feeling of the scene. Quote
DarkLimit Posted December 23, 2004 Author Posted December 23, 2004 paulmcg1 - thanks alot for your encouraging words I am working on the full tut on this scene.. ypoissant - Thanks so much for your feedback really means alot... it's interesting that you mention that about the desk, cuz I was hoping the viewer would notice them. I wanted them to seem to be normal furnitures but with a closer look that they would come alive..... Am glad they caught ur eyes...... thanks alot guys.... Quote
guernseyfreak Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 I have only one word to describe this... Wow... Quote
