gre03 Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 This suprisingly took me about 8 hours to make (i normally spend a few days on a Project). i am quite pleased with it. but the only thing i need help on is the background. Here is the site i used for a guide. Sci-Fi models and animations Any comments would be appreciated. Quote
starwarsguy Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 Go SciFi3D! I've been with them for awhile. They are absolutely the best! Quote
Admin Rodney Posted April 13, 2005 Admin Posted April 13, 2005 Andrew, I like the background as is. The foreground looks a bit flat... almost as if they are walking across a frozen lake. Adding some detail there might make the difference. Very nice. -Rodney Quote
KenH Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 Hey cool! I love the At-AT. One of the best things in the SW movies. You might want to change the posing of the legs. Quote
Zaryin Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 The models are great. Especially for eight hours work. Quote
Biotron2000 Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 That looks great! I'd love to see it animated, too. Quote
Newbert_Zero Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 that looks really good. but it appears as if behind the head there is no detail. i dont know if its soposed to be like that though. Quote
starwarsguy Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 Whenever I use SciFi3D for detailed reference, I end up making too many splines... I am working off of the ARC Fighter WIP right now. I'm gonna try to use bump maps for the little stuff. Quote
Gerry Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 yeah, the models look great, but the shadows are a little confusing. You've got the hard-edged shadows off to the left, then the soft pools of shadow directly below the heads...or is that an oil leak? Quote
NickHutson Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 Sci-fi looks like a pretty cool site. Accept for one very alarming thing though. Noone, not anyone modeled a princes Leah or qween Amidala model. What the heck is that?! If I were to spend my time on a star wars character it would be one of those too first. Quote
starwarsguy Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 They made 2 Amidalas that were unreleased. They were being used in Son of Suns. See? That proves I worked with them for awhile. Quote

starwarsguy Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 LOL. Like General Grievous. Except he's not cool in the end, because... Well, it's how he dies. You'll see when Episode III comes out. BTW, Tragedy, a new trailer, just came out. It has the first released new music. It rocks! Quote
Newbert_Zero Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 Thanks for spoiling the movie!!!!!!!! you FAT MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!! IM GOING TO EAT YOU!!!!!!!! *cough* can we see another render please? Quote
gre03 Posted April 14, 2005 Author Posted April 14, 2005 does anyone know where I could get a movie of an AT-AT walking? Quote

Godfrey Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 Does anyone know where i could get a movie of an AT-AT walking? Uh... The Empire Strikes Back? Quote
jfirestine Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 I remember watching the Making of Empire Strikes Back, years, and years ago. The stop motion animators used footage of elephants to get the walk cycles for the AT-AT walkers. Quote
Newbert_Zero Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 elephats hau? I wonder if it was becaue of the weight of elaphants. and that there on 4 legs. Quote
iGeek Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 I'm sure it was the grayness. You know, it's very hard to portray gray realistically. You need to go scout out all kinds of gray references. Too dark or too light can just ruin your day. I wish I were über enough to animate gray. Seriously folks, looks really nice. -Zev Quote
nerrazzi Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 I built one of those a while back, drove me nuts trying to rig it... Overall your model looks good however, I think you should add some weathering to make it appear as though it's been used & fired upon. Also, I think in the long run it would benefit you to swap the bump maps for real modeled geometry especially when those snowspeeders fly in close to do their harpoon maneuvers. ...just a thought Quote
