  1. what are you using for your hull? The typical Star Trek hull texture is called Aztec. Google it and you'll find how to make your own
  2. it's pretty cool to see the greyhalk characters integrated with wannabe. It's a great treat to wake up to in the morning
  3. That is significantly better. I think the dissolve will be that added touch
  4. Ok, to make the movie bit, once all is exported, Right Click on the Images folder in AM, choose Import>Animation/Image Sequence. Choose the first frame and click OK. Then if you right click on the newly imported animation and choose Save Animation As, set it as a MOV or AVI or whatever your preference is, and save it. Now you have the animation file. Could you also screenshot all your render settings. So the Render to File screen, the options for rendering and perhaps even your compression settings. There's something in that that shouldn't be. Perhaps you could also ZIP all the files together and upload it to the forum so some of us can have a look at the project.
  5. you could perhaps even animate a bit of a colour transition too.
  6. ok good, I only accept nifty or spiffy, anything less is a waste of time Anyways, looking very good, I have for some time been tinkering with the decaling of windows on starship hulls and I'm gonna look at Eric's maps some to see how I can improve on ones I use for my ships. I look forward to seeing the rest of this ship re-done!
  7. ...I don't even know how that's possible. I can render several second clips in HD720p and they only equal less than 10MB. What are you rendering to and what are your rendering settings?
  8. I never saw the film, only read the book, but man, that is like exactly how I see the ship when I read it. Utterly astounding, terrific work, wouldn't expect anything less of you
  9. yeah, there ya go! That's one of the beautiful things of AM, you can make carves and whatnot, and have a really low patch count, whereas with poly modeling, you need to increase your poly count to make smoother edges and stuff.
  10. yeah, I don't even know if one of Al's super detailed models has that many patches!
  11. humour me on this. Render it as a short animation and see if the blur works. Something I've found is that if I'm rendering a single frame only, a motion blur does not render, but if I'm rendering multiple frames, the blur does render. Then if you render to multiple TGA files or something, you could pick one with a nice blur on it.
  12. now we need a pancake! looks very good and sticky!
  13. Well, I know Robert has an awesome one from seeing his syrup tests. Bug him for it cause it's a cool glass!
  14. all da cool stuff is here: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showt...mp;#entry325971
  15. volumetrics create some cool and fairly fast rendering fog. They're my primary choice and they're very easy to set up
  16. does it vibrate when you die? Otherwise, don't want it Good job though, you're modeling is definitely lightyears ahead of mine (thus the awesome looking Spitfire model you made, which you can have a copy of the completed ship if you want)
  17. you can lower how much a constraint works on something by clicking on the constraint in the PWS and then setting the Tolerance I think it is, or something along those lines to a lower number. As for audio, I generally use MP3 at 44.1KHZ and 128kbps or higher. Any editing program for the most part will import and use MP3s. It's one of the few universal formats out there
  18. I use BMP, but that's because of the issues I have with AM integrating with OS10.5.8 , I can't access the Set function for JPG images, so I use BMPs
  19. unfortunately, AM can only add WAV files, like the largest audio file format known to the human race.
  20. ahhh, the fresh scent of adobe in the morning, making file sizes 4 times larger than they need to be
  21. hey, that's great for working out motion and stuff. It's sort of like those poseable models for figure drawing and whatnot.
  22. my favourite Irwin Allen show is The Time Tunnel, that was really good, it wasn't really a goofy show and was quite captivating. They were going to do a remake of it back in 2007, but it never got off the ground.
  23. i've only seen the movie, it's quite good.
  24. I love that sub, the one from Seaquest DSV was kind of cool, though very 90s looking
  25. again, that glass blows my mind with its realism. and that's a cool syrup test too, looks very sticky
