Wouldn't surprise me if your friend's car had an aftermarket 'glass hood. You'ld be surprised what car freaks do to win shows.... for example... if the gap around the door is too wide where the door latches... a show guy will have extra metal welded to the edge of the door so that the gap is the same allaround... even if it's just off a 'steenth of an inch... just a weld bead along the edge grind off what you don't need.... Sad, they're sooooo anal... my nit pickin' is very minor in comparison. And I been pushin Dan Bradbury on his Retro just as hard!

Wellll, based on your roto reference, I would have agreed... but my mind said "Detroit wouldn't have allowed that" So, I looked on line with the help of google images... and whaddayaknow.... Drumroll not necessary..... [attachmentid=14771] Sorry, I hate being wr--- wro----- mistaken (can't even say it)! I think, if you look at the driver's side of your own roto, the strips are the same size. The reflection off the chrome is giving you that extra width on the right (of the car). Also, your friends car would be docked points in a show for the strips not lining up... sad but true.

Dhar, Looks good, man... and as to the wings not being big enough... Did you know the honey bee cannot possibly fly? So, since this is a futuristic vehicle, with vibrating wings rather than rotational propellors, I believe it is unimportant how long the wings are. Remeber those horrible shuttles on the Enterprise? Flying saltine boxes with no wings... just skis. They flew quite well, when they were'nt crashing into something.

Welcome aboard! Yep, you'll get plenty of help here... I've discovered that no matter how seasoned the vetrans are... they are all still learning! And, I think the forums here are top notch... the help is pretty fast in coming, too... Having some experience with animation will certainly give you a leg up. I think you'll find A:M pretty intuitive. Though if you're used to polygons, it might be a bit of a stuggle at first. The art of A:M that came with the software will get you up to speed quickly, especially given your previous experience.

I'm sorry JB, where can I send the bill for my keyboard? Seems I've just gotten it all sticky... With coffee (get your head outta the gutter) And now my nose burns too!

Scott, this is looking really great! 'Course before you're done I'll be expecting to see how welll the windshield wipers and washers work! Ever the relentless taskmaster! It really is lookin' good... but shouldn't the chrome strip on the front of the hood be the same width as the ones around the headlight doors? I know it seems like I'm picking nits... and I am... but I like to Push the possibilities too. Even though honestly, I'm not near as good at it myself as I'd like to be (and no where as good as you are!). Oh, and speaking of headlights ( I did mention headlights so this is not completly out of the blue) I really like yours... But, they kinda look dark, like the old headlights did when the bulbs went bad (they'd get that dark grey cast to them). Now, you could say they were smoked lenses...And that's okay too but they need to be smokier if that's the case. And if you smoke the lenses, you gotta have blue dots for the tail lights don't you? I mean isn't that a law or something?

Now, I might ask her out on a date... She has really improved! A candiate for SWAN! Great job Z... keep it going!

Very nice...! I'm doing a keyboard of sorts too... so it's good to know it can be done!

AO is Ambient (or Ambiance?) Occlusion... a (lighting) Rendering feature in V13 (still in alpha, BTW) of A:M, that allows lighting a scene with the character/props casting the light by using there own ambiance instead of lights.... (thats a rough translation that works in my head... I'm not 100% certain it's completely correct) IBL= Idunno Bout Lots (of stuff) (actually, I don't know what the IBL means)
-
Awesome! Degree markings on the harmonic balancer to come?
-
ver 13's are in alpha right now... there are some bugs in them. they are being sorted out... you need to download the latest version of 12.0, I think it's "t" (which I see, you have) if you download and use any of the 13s... be aware any of the models you use to render in 13 will not re-open in 12.

Should have been TAO A:M The Art Of Animation:Master... the booklet that came with the software. FMB... You didn't learn how to tie your shoes until you grabbed hold of the laces yourself. Watching others do it will not give you the skill to do it. If you have trouble remembering how you did something and can't repeat it.. it is because you have not studied what you are doing... take notes if you have to.

We have a BINGO, ladies and gentlemen... Hold your cards while we check the numbers... Yes! That's it folks! Mr. Sutton has gotten a BINGO... Will, "You! You're good, you!" That's it, the face was too long... Wish I coulda done that! And, what Ken said, i.e.: The triangle of muscles on top of the shoulders that are holding her neck up. Drop the slope of them a bit, try leaving the neck the same length or shortening it a bit. Z, I'm sorry I couldn't figgur out what it was that was off... I could only give you my gut... and couldn't pinpoint it. especially in text

Fab, I am sorry I did not make myself clear. I think the character is GREAT! I think everything is beautiful. Except I do not know if the points on her headdress (hat) should be more pointed? or Fab, je suis désolé que je ne me sois pas rendu clair. Je pense que le caractère est GRAND! Je pense que tout est beau. À moins que je ne sache pas si les points sur ses headdress (chapeau) si sont plus aigus? (google translation) [attachmentid=14704] Does that help? Gawd, the internet can be a great thing!

So, what you're telling me is that DOOM let's you create your own "game?" In your own environment? I did not know that! Hmph. Well I guess video games are not quite as mindless as they usta be. Back in the day I refused to sell joysticks to parents who were buying computers for their kids. I was a crumudgeon even at 35 y.o., I guess.
-
very nice... except... is the headdress not closed on her left side at the point? Izzat the way it's s'posed to be?
-
very nice Zach... hahaha! Shaggy's no doubt going to be a spokesman for "head on" headace remedy!
-
thanks, like I said... no biggie... just curiosity... and yes they seem more intense!

what do you do when hair is groing INSIDE your modle
oakchas replied to ufoman4's topic in Work In Progress / Sweatbox
gives a whole new take on "give 'im the hairy eyeball" huh? LOL yeah, definately fix that! -
I think the "bra" should be the lighter blue. She appears to be what we used to kindly call "plain", i.e., she's no beauty. (I hope she's not modeled after your mom, or worse yet, your spouse/significant other.) nice detail on the clothing/boots (boot seam, great) a little "jesterish" on the sleeves. These are just impressions... kinda like free association... you're getting my "gut feel" It's not that I like dislike the character, in other words... these are just the feelings I get looking at her.

I'm wondering... Was there a change in the standard chor and lighting in ver 12 from ver 11.1? I've been rebuilding something that I lost in the translation between 11.1 and 12.0 t and when I put it in the standard chor, the render finishes "overexposed" washed-out... But not until after I click on the finished chor. It's darker (a more "normal" exposure) until I click on it or pan with the scrollbars. this is not a big deal, I'm going to change the lighting anyway. but just a curiosity.

Matt, Just for grins, post the original Doom screen for us to compare to... if you can. Looks like your PS "vacuum cleaner/polisher" did a pretty good job... only missed a spot or two, eh?

wow cory! this is an incredble model! if that walk is "thrown together" I hope I can do as well someday. Yeah, it's a cycle, but it works pretty darned well... Very nice all 'round.

it looks really good. How do you get the graphics out of doom? Screen cap? or are you remaking EVERYTHING? If the latter. stop it. Create your own! You obviously have the ability!
